thank you father for sharing. im glad also that you have a marian vestment. many priests avoid blue marian vestments but i believe the blue colour honours the Holy Mother well
I have many of my own personal vestments that I got on eBay. I found great prices on used vintage vestments and new ones. Most standard vestments are too big for me so I have to have them all altered to fit. PS - We have the same white and blue chasubles for our diocesan vestments!
The use of vestments is also meant to create a level of anonymity of the individuality of the minister. The priest does not function in his own personal individual capacity but also in the person of Christ.
why do some priests wear the stole outside the chasuble? why do some stoles have one panel at the back as well as the two at the front? why do some priests just wear a stole at mass instead of a stole with the chasuble?
Nope they are also required but, they are allowed to and they can also celebrate mass by just their habit and stole ..they have also white habit..as undergarment before the chasuble..bro tony...
Sadly the vestments of the Extraordinary Mass seem 'out of fashion'. The priest in that most holy form of Mass additionally wears a maniple & he crosses the stole over his breast signifying the cross of Christ. The EF of Mass has much more symbolism than the OF & even though the actions of the priest are mostly hidden it does represent that we are all praying to God together & not (as in the OF Mass) just getting together in a bunch which looks (IMHO) more like a chat among friends than all of us turning towards God together. Utter tripe. The local Parish Priest in my local Church rocks up about 2 minutes before Mass..He couldn't possibly or conceivably say this rubric and dress at the same time, before appearing on the Altar....
