Man I remember the good ole days when they used to say that the current generation was going to be able to produce a consistent 60 to 120 fps pretty much across the board. Those were the days huh.

The only Xbox hardware that would get me excited would be an Xbox Handheld/Hybrid with Series S performance. All my digital library games optimized for it. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

With gta 6 being a cpu bound game, the ps5 pro is only getting a 10% increase in cpu performance, meaning it will the match the series x at 3.8 GHz after a .3 increase, completely eliminating the chance of gta 6 running at 60fps. Digital foundry just proved that point yesterday

OK so when I got to 11 minutes on this video I will say the only reason Playstation is out selling the Xbox is probably because of the exclusive games that Xbox does not have

Does it matter how powerful the console is if developers won't use it because of cost and time constraints.

No Series X Pro. It's not needed. Xbox can focus on working on the next-gen Xbox. That makes the most sense. However, they could release a handheld with the power of the Series S before then, and I would be cool with that.

I think people are forgetting xbox does 1440p 120hz and that's already crazy for a 500 dollar console so if you think a new 500 dollar ps5 pro is going to do 8k ur nuts

We need a haptic xbox controller and a performance boost in the all digital X would be great

Been playing GTA 5 at 24-30fps for 9 years then 3 years they add performance RT and performance modes to push 60fps. Honestly if it runs less than 30fps on my series X I would have to go PS5 Pro but other than that I'm sure we are all fine with 30fps especially on single player.

Pro consoles are a waste of time, max out current-gen, or... wait for the next REAL generation jump.

Great news: the hardware upgrade once every 4 years is normal and needed. Better frame rate and ray tracing are a MUST.

The XDK is for the Xbox handheld later this year. The Series S2 and Series X2 will possibly launch next year alongside gta6. Xbox has been pretty clear they are not following the generational thing anymore they are doing the apple thing where you release a new high/low end model each couple years and games just get updated to suit.

We don't need a Series X Pro or any other Digital device at the moment 🤔.

I’d love a handheld Xbox after owning a Switch. It’s way smarter to own that as a Series S slotted hardware option and then have a flagship console. They should skip the mid gen refresh and go for next gen. You can’t make the current gen hardware so much better that it makes it worthwhile to spend another $500.

Xbox came out more powerful than PS5. I feel that they haven’t leveraged what they have now, they should make a plug-in module to upgrade the system instead of spending $5 or $600 for another console

Phil Spencer has said there won't be a Mid-Gen Refresh simply because we haven't seen what the Series-X is REALLY capable of.....YET !!! People need to wait for the Proper Next Gen Games to release before saying anything, wait and see the games that have been built on and only for the Xbox Series-X (with no xbox one x support) I think Phil Spencer knows that the Velocity Architecture inside the Series-X is a LOT more capable than people think, therefore they don't need to release a mid-gen refresh since the Series-X is capable enough to last throughout this entire generation.....Where-as Sony NEED to release a "Pro" Version because the PS5 isn't as capable as the Series-X and won't be able to last this generation. You'll be surprised to see just what the Series-X can REALLY do.....Most of it's power and next-gen features haven't been used at-all, most of the games out right now are merely jumped-up and polished last-gen games.....Many people don't understand that they're still making the Proper Next-Gen Games (many of them should've been out by now) unfortuately they're taking a bit longer to make than they thought, simply because there's a LOT more that goes-in to games now-a-days, games are a Lot Bigger, Deeper, Longer and More Detailed than ever.....This is what people want BUT they haven't got the patience to wait for them to be made properly.....People want more but more means they going to take more time to make !!!

I can see a Series S boost but not the X

Lets be honest, the fact that the xbox series x was out of stock everywhere, all the time, was a big part of why they probably weren't selling consoles.

The series X is already more powerful than the PS5

lets all be realistic GTA 6 will NOT becoming out 2025 we are looking at mid 2026 at the earliest

Thing is tho.. if it's improved notably - it's not an additional $600 over an existing PS5 or Series X, it's $200 as you could easily sell your existing console for $400.

We don’t need another console, it’s ridiculous. Let Sony do their own thing. Xbox doesn’t compete with them anyways as they also do their own thing. I’m not buying another console this early. They haven’t even taken full advantage and optimized the current hardware we already have. Developers are just lazy instead of fine-tuning their skills with the hardware they are working with. They just want to proof force everything. Also quit being so ambitious with your vision. The current hardware is capable of of making amazing games and visuals with good performance. New hardware is not required.

This generation doesn't need a pro model. They barely reached the potential of the hardware at this point. What we need is a handheld!

Why even get a ps5 pro anyway? None of these devs have utilized the full potential of these consoles yet and they already trying to make pro versions

They need a smaller TB drive for on board storage. All we need is 4k capped at 120fps with a good refresh rate calibrator. Human eyes can't even tell the difference at higher resolutions past 8k, the difference is so minimal its not worth the investment.

Why would anyone buy a new Xbox when most the games do not push the limits of the X

They need to keep everyone happy, a handheld and a powerful console for those who like to have the console experience

I would have wanted a XsX pro if they had not made the series s. Developers would have to make optimizations for 3 current Xbox systems. I believe the series s is kneecapping the Series X already.

Why they don't need to ! Xbox can just come and say next gen 2026 and most likely gta6 be out in 2026

9:25 I’m still VERY convinced that the Xbox Handheld will come to market for 2024 Christmas, so the Xbox Dev Kit could be the DevKit for Xbox Handheld (different CPU/GPU, etc… so necessary to have a specific DevKit).

We still have games launching with old gen versions

It's great if a console can do all those things, but are there affordable monitors that can display all those upgrades? Are developers able maximize those upgrades?

Honestly both PlayStation and Xbox need to focus on just bringing quality games to their platforms and not remakes or remasters. I think the best days were probably the ps2/PS3 and 360 days where there was literally hundreds of games worth playing as where now your lucky to get 1or2 games worth it during its cycle

If game industry is just a single ecosystem sony and microsoft could do a console collab and combine their best of respective platforms

I have an Xbox SX and I’m more interested in getting more storage space than actually having more performance, bigger GPU, etc… I would actually love Microsoft to release a NVME Enclosure that could be used natively in the Xbox storage expansion slot, so we could use any NVME to expand our storage. I would love a Xbox X2 that would actually have 2 to 4TB internal, and 2 to 4 expansion slots so we could add 2x4TB, or even 4x4TB of native storage to run all our games directly… and the richest people could even use 8TB NVME… if they ever drop in price. Making the Xbox one step closer to a PC with very large storage for very large games.

Super high fps is overrated.

Sony and microsoft need to realize that MOST of is will take 1440p if that means we get a solid 60 fps/120 fps.

Xbox Series One S (XOSO) at 400$ and Xbox Series One X (XOSX) At 800$. Rx 6700 XT vs Rx 7800 XT Ryzen 3700x vs Ryzen 5 5700X3D. 1tb vs 2tb 16 gddr6 vs 32gddr7 Dual boot with Windows on both consoles. Having a one a half gaming PC, games will run way better on Xbox os because of optimization but games like the last of us would be perfectly playable on Series one X. They could also add DDR4 8gb stick on the Series One X I guess.

You know what I want...? My xbox sounding like a jet because it's kicking the bucket trying to put me on the edge of my sofa while playing a game that gives me the same feeling I had back when I played MetalGear Rising back on 360!! (That was taking the juice out my console... But it was pushing the limits of it...) GTA V back in 360 that was pushing the limit of my console. But now. I highly doubt anyone will tell me there is a game that is pushing the current generation of consoles to their limits. And honestly if that doesn't happen I have no reason to want another console or a new generation...

I find mid gen refreshes make next gen less exciting. It's nice to see the bigger leap forward.

Bro we need games not a pro version

The most awesome console xbox could release would be a handheld at least as powerful as an Xbox series S that has a dock with a more powerful GPU. Something like an external GPU dock on a gaming laptop. It’s been possible for years but even more so now with higher bandwidth connections. You could have a handheld that is powerful enough to play games on the go and when docked to the TV it could be way more powerful.

R.I.P., Xbox. I can't believe they're reissuing the Series X with no better specs, taking away the disc drive, and calling it a mid-gen refresh. I don't know how you do this, man. It's gotta be REEEALLY hard to put a positive spin on any of this.

I’m getting the next GEN series X because it’s got all that extra storage for the games I want and I gave my old series X to my stepson he needed something new. He was still rocking my old Xbox one X.

With puny 10% increase in CPU performance for the PS5 Pro, I really see no reason for Pro for MS or Sony. After watching DF they talked me completely out of buying a PS5 Pro. I don't expect MS to release a suped up machine they should have suped up the Series S black when they released that.

So is this gnh be the version where when cold war would crash so hard and so much that thr support team reccomended to turn off ray tracing and deleting persistent storage to even unplug the xbox for 10 minutes 2 minutes whatever. The version of what so boasted terraflops Yada yet games like mw3 or skullandbones can't even load the frames on time resulting in flat or lack of performance with the quality it should have. It better be the version of the xbkx that debugged all these so called game issues it may be the game but in all reality why should I have to turn off ray tracing when it was setting in game and content to deem its setting to be able and modify as if it was allready aware of in the first place like teases with simple obvious aspects that shouldn't be a option for if this system was claimed to perform like a pc and well I felt like a dummy first time I turned off ray tracing like oh sweet that all I had to do and guess what the game still crashed its honestly a game system in fake quality to gain tge comustomer base that has been in the console since atari and know that it's simpler to game console to gaming pc overall your cheated and since xbox 360 there's been gaming pc that is better then the xbox series x then and is today a joke compared to pc gamers like why the console players always complain about cross play pc because ther frame motion and sync has no lag no loss and can run 8k if the money is spent by now if you haven't spent money on the console every release you would have saved enough money to buy a pc and a oled tv or a g9ultra wide. Today I haven't even got the expierence of playing on a pc with a frame less motion rare running past 299 to whatever hz monitors andits the same as playing a guitar inspected at a different location compared to made in usa its different and extremely noticeable but money is the reason we get that model of what was made from and took look and feel as close as possible but yet is not the real thing.

I think the "refresh" is going to be storage focused with 2tb and able to better work with cloud gaming and be a series x in a more compact housing and no optical. Call it series xc

Only thing I can think of is maybe they want to come out with a digital x that is more matched to the series x. To be able to have the best gaming experiences for upcoming games that series S might have issues with. Then we could unlock the true power and potential of what the xbox series x and digital x can do. But I doubt it. That would basically say the series S would be pointless to have.

I for one want a SX Pro and would buy it tomorrow. What I don't want is an all digital anything. I want to own my games and I want to be able to buy used games.

These 3 big shots companies have made it impossible for a company like Sega to bring out a new system. The Pros have to come out in order to block any company trying to squeeze in between system launches. It's nothing like having a powerful system that can do a lot of stuff, but there's also nothing like a less powerful system that have experience programmers that can make the system do amazing things. When a system specs come out is it possible for them to hide something?Or do they have to tell everything up front? Nintendo could pull a fast one by having a lock on a chip or blockage that nobody knows what it does. Third-party companies may be wouldn’t like it because Nintendo would have the upper hand.

Absolutely not interested in a digital series x nor will I ever be but I actually believe that it would be good for healthy competition for Xbox to actually try focus equally on software and hardware because they both have an important role to play and are both necessary so it's kind of like a seesaw Xbox really truly needs to learn how to balance that seesaw in order for them to truly see how successful and positive they can really be

There is a no reason for a PS 5 Pro or Xbox Pro when devs can’t spend time optimising for each system when supporting so many different tiers now. Throw more HW doesn’t fit the problem, just look at the switch and what it’s been able to do.

A potentially more expensive handheld Xbox is better than the Series S? Even though the Series S accounts for the greater proportion of Xbox console sales? There’s a reason people love the Series S, and I think Microsoft knows that which is why they’ve ensured to provide continued support for it.

All depends on the performance - names and specs don't mean shite without devs doing the work.

I hope Xbox just goes next gen in 2026 since most of people still use 4k tv's/monitors. I don't think xbox even needs mid gen refresh at this point. 4k/120fps, better AI and 8k gaming support for next gen. I just want handheld right now tbf.

Eh ibwouldnt even consider it if it doesn't have at minimum double the memory storage of the X. I have the X and my biggest complaint is that u only have 1 TB of storage (yes i had to buy the 2TB expansion card), especially when nearly every game is download only, I still don't have even half the amount of storage I need with the expansion card to play all my games whenever I feel like playing them. At least with the 360 u can buy the disks and the memory u have on the console is just for ur saved game/ progress.

If I was the head of Xbox I, of course, would go all out and even skip the Xbox XL and go straight XBOX XXX, triple X.

I've never even heard my series x ramp up if the series x is getting held back by the series s them why wouldn't a new more powerful Xbox have the same problem? And if what I just said is not the case then why aren't we seeing some games that look really impressive on the series x compared to the PS4 or Xbox One x??

The only answer that would make sense, that XBOX can give is releasing a next gen XBOX, but on the other hand those consoles didn´t reached their true potential yet. Releasing any mid gen refresh is a stupid move in my book.

It might not be worth it if you keep your PS five, But if you sell your PS five and take the money that You got from selling your PS five and then take it to buy the PS five Pro, that might be worth it. Just saying, it’s all perspective.

Maybe that dev kit is for an upgraded series S that has the same hardware of the Series X. Series S is holding back the series X, so why not make them the same. I don't see the point of a digital Series X if the Series S exist. Just upgrade the series S hardware. It's way cheaper than redesigning the series X. I would rather them bring out a beefer series X Elite model and call it the Series E. Have a faster hard drive, more storage, newer controller, and beefer stats. Nothing crazy. Like they did with the Xboxone Elite console. Just my opinion.

there wont be a xbox series x pro, there is a xbox series x digital version. I read in twitter that microsoft is skipping a next gen refresh console and jumping to a xbox 5 or possibly going 3rd party.

I don't think fps are going to be any better on the "pro" unfortunately bc of the CPU. It may look "fancier" aka shiny with some extra RT and a bit higher res but that's about it
