And finally you don't need to call others dumb, specially if your argument isn't very strong because then, you know, it kind of backfires.
SS4 is getting a mixed response from reviewers and am not surprised as it does have issues as I clearly show in this review. However some reviews are a disgrace to the Serious Sam franchise, not naming names but can you believe one of the top reviewers never even bothered finishing the game (it's about 11 hours) or playing it in coop, how the hell can you review serious sam without playing coop, this is what the game is all about. So please make it a priority to watch a few reviews and maybe even a stream before departing with your money, never judge a game off one review, even mine.
You were the first person I thought of when I saw the game drop on steam. Co-op status was my first question. Does it still allow for local split-screen for when the boys come over?
I know you don't want to name anyone, but I feel like you are talking about certain Centaur here on RU-vid. I will be buying this game, after doing my research, just not day one.
Might be the odd exception but I can't really think of any short games I did not complete. It's impossible to finish every game though as an indie reviewer as some require over 30 hours, not enough time so you have to make a decision when to stop and for the last few years I always try to remember to tell the viewer my play time in hours, All youtube reviewers that I know rarely finish a game and sadly many of them pretend they have but their footage exposes their lies as 9 times out of 10 you see nothing past the half way point of the game. :)
@@DustyEchozy It's coupled with the narrative, soundtrack and the many easter eggs that really made it stand out for me. And the DLC builds on that. A great game, and I'm not really a fan of puzzlers.
YES! that's why I love your reviews because you just know what you are reviewing, you're reviewing this game with the mindset that "this is a serious sam game" because in the end, a serious sam game isn't about cutscenes or story, it's about being a badass and killing hordes and hordes of enemies, and this game just gets it right, this game isn't an introduction to the series but more like a follow-up, SO YEAH! GREAT JOB KEEP IT UP!!!!
Having worked in the industry as a tester I will say that they probably have quality testers that are putting in bugs, probably even the ones you mentioned, but they tend to ignore QA and push it out anyway unfortunately. Marketing and sales usually win that fight no matter the pushback given, in the games industry at least.
Guys there is a reason its getting mostly positive reviews now, change graphic color settings to VIVID and PAtch the fugging game..its freaking amazzzziing
Yeah, it's really good. Mack already reviewed it and gave it a thumbs down but he's really loyal to the original (which is very outdated in terms of gameplay). I think this edition respects the original game while making it less of a burden to play. And yes, the game can be challenging at times (*cough* stupid cart racing mission *cough*)
I'm quite surprised how positive you were. After Gman's review I expecting quite a different review from you. I'll wait for a big discount since it looks (for me) as less fun than the older games.
@@frenetik2017 And I'm not blaming him for not liking SS3 that much, it ain't that great - every negative thing he said about SS3 was spot on. To be honest, every now and then I'm in the mood for First and Second Encounter, SS2 and even for Next Encounter, but SS3? I finished it once and I won't be playing it anytime soon. And SS4 level design (can't understand why they are using parts from Talos Principle) looks partly ok and partly as garbage. So again, I will wait for a really large discount before even thinking about it. And honestly it's a shame since I've loved this series since the original release... But I loved it for that whacky and beautiful level design, stupid jokes and one liners and fun gun play where you don't need to bother with reloading... You just run, gun and try to survive.

serious sam is one of my favorites. i love the chaos and panic when there are just waves and waves and waves of mobs. im glad they kept that and the guns. had some flashbacks of pure joy when you approached the ammo and armor and then there was the "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" bummer they have so many bugs for this release. i don't remember any bugs like that in serious sam 3 maybe i was lucky.
Got this game and I like it despite some reviews. It has some bugs... they are quite annoying if they prevent you from making a progress, but it has great playability and is quite fun. I was surprised some reviewers made it sound like negative that it is 'old-school' and 'over-the-top', I mean, that is the whole point of this franchise and a big plus for me:) Also, it was released DRM-free on gog, it is so rare to see that:)
15 years ago, I used to buy games as they released - many times that very day 7 years ago I used to buy games only when they were a year old now I buy games only when they are 2 or 3 years old I seriously question the common sense and sanity of those who purchase the half finished shite called games these days pre-order or release date.
DirectX 12 and Vulkan are performance-oriented APIs. You won't really see any visual difference switching between DX11 to 12/Vulkan, unless the game supports ray tracing, which needs either of them to run.

I reviewed it twice already, once in 2002 on Mafiaworld fan site and also in 2017 retro review, I will do something but I can't see my playing it all the way through, that would be my 4th completion if I do. I can virtually play it blindfolded now lol
@@WorthABuyreviews You must not like the remake if you can't see yourself playing it all the way through. There are some problems. The AI and stealth are horrendous. The combat is average. The symbols and arc lines still ruin the immersion on classic difficulty. Animations are not very good. It is still a bit dumbed down on classic difficulty, but I am enjoying it. The story is great, graphics are great most of the time, voice acting is great, soundtrack is great, driving is great, gunplay/combat is passable, immersion is not great, AI is bad, stealth is bad, animations are hit or miss. I feel like you will give it a 6 or 7 out of 10 because of the dumbing down, but for me it is an 8.
I was so confused when he said that. He had the choice of DX11, DX12 and vulkan. The choice is obvious but he kept talking and talking about DX11 and DX12. And no explanation! Do you get cancer from vulkan Mack?
Funny you should mention QA. I'm a accountant that follows game developers & trends. I make money by convincing developers to release a game as "marketable" with a 90 day QA program which is based solely on the highest rated reviews per their view count. Your feedback is vital to the success of the game and the continued support. Thank you to everyone for their honest reviews and anti-sugar coating approach. It saves the developers millions. I consider myself a consumer who never wants to buy because reviews are always horrible but the truth is the reviews are part of the system now.
Oh im totally kidding BTW but could you imagine a world where you give 4 product keys to get honest feedback instead dof paying an entire staff of like 15 people 60k+ yr salaries to tell you what you WANT to hear which is "ohh its great, there are no issues, just release as is etc etc"
I loved the OG Serious Sam from back in the day. SS2 was also a lot of fun. I think there were two other SS games that were not as good. I had been interested in SS4 but didn't even realize it was released yet. Sounds like they released it too soon, which is a shame. I'll wait a month or two for bug fixes and take another look.
I grew up with SS1 and SS2, it’s always great fun to play and fast-paced first person shooters were the thing back then. SS3 was good, but not as good as the first two (in my opinion). SS4 however, feels more like a mod for the previous games, and I realised that throughout my time on it. To me, it just didn’t have that Serious Sam feel to it. Maybe because I haven’t played the previous treasures in a long time...
@@0sac Eh, if you are a fan of these games it's worth it. Otherwise wait for sale. It's very buggy right now, but it's a Serious Sam game so it's hard not to like the core of it.

Hey Mack, I have noticed that if you've got the bell selected for all upload notifications on a lot of channels, RU-vid doesn't actually send you notifications from every channel. It seems to omit some and in particular it won't notify of every video a channel with several daily vids uploads. But it also leaves out single vids from some channels, so this could be happening here...
Well I have no notification from any channel, but I usually watch all my subscriptions anyway before consuming any other content - will work fine for me :)
Why is no one using the ABO function in YT? On the left sidebar, the sidebar you can pull from left to right, when clicking and holding the left mouse button, and then drag the mouse to the right. A neat little sidebar is unveiling itself. There is the ABO button. And clicking that, everything thats new, will be listed from newest (top) to latest (bottom) in an infinite long list... there is no need for a Bell if you open up the Abo Tab... you can even make a browser shortcut of it, for instant gratification... And if you have so much Abos like me, then you don't have enough day to watch all of it... no Bell is saving you from that or grant you more than 24hours a day!
Just wished the game had more time to be worked on. Sure I'm gonna pick it up and hopefully have a good time with it, but seeing all the bugs and mishaps is somewhat offputting.
Finally, the Big 3 are now in 2020 :D Serious Sam, Doom Guy and B.J. Blazkowicz (exception of Young Blood) Good time to be a classic FPS gamer, now we need Unreal Tournament and Quake to be relavent (Quake Champion isn't what I had in mind)
Note the reason for using Vulkan or DX12 over DX11 isn't that they let the devs make the game look better (as is the case with the jump from DX9 to 11) but rather to give the developers lower-level access to the hardware so they can better optimize the game. A good example of this is Doom Eternal which runs much better under Vulkan, but it is also developer-specific, so I dunno how much this game's framerate would benefit from it. As for the game itself, I've been a big fan of Sam since, well, forever, but I'll wait for them to patch this one up properly before giving it a spin, quite a shame considering how polished all of Croteam's previous games were on release. Maybe they were running out of money and had to get this one out the door to stay afloat? I dunno.
hey mack, does it have split screen and controller support like the last one? would love to 2 player this with my girlfriend in a month or so when it works properly :') also that looks like the biggest console weapon wheel ever, no complaints there? :P
