I’m in Fort Myers too, it’s looking like if it satays north, we’re getting the surge. If it hits directly, there’s that. If it goes south of it’s unlikely. I’m thinking of evacuating because I’m near the beach.

Rusty, seems that those who foresaw a late blooming season were onto something. Still active off the west coast of Africa, and as expected, active in the Gulf of Mexico and environs; and Florida again!! October came to life over SE Jamaica this PM; big thunderstorm.

Rusty helps us to pray for those places that were impacted and is still in the areas of Milton. It is so sad. Please, God, be merciful and be our shelter in these times. Rusty Barbados is having some mixed weather, lots of heat in some areas, lots of rain and heat together. I am baking right now, although the dew is around I can not thank you enough for updating us on what to look forward for in advance

Clearly, you don't have a choice. If I were you I would go and give Desantisss a piece of my mind. He's the one who doesn't want climate change mentioned in any education facilities or in news reports throughout the state. It is a blatant fascist coup on the truth. Lived through Charley, Jeanne and Frances that blew through Central Florida all in 6 weeks in 2004. I thought the roof would go with Charley, we had gusts of 119 in our area. No power for 10 days. Roads impassable because of trees and branches. Prepare like you're going to be in a tornado that lasts hours. Do not expect the gubmint to come help you. Expect to fend for yourself without power and probably water for at least a week.

If Milton is a major Hurricane and if the track is right up I-4, hurricane winds around 75mph would be possible in the west side of metro. Still time to watch and determine impacts. -Rusty

Hi Rusty Franklyn here in Antigua. It was hot and dry today with just a few dark clouds around. I'm rather worried about Milton. I have family in Melbourne Florida. What's the chance of Milton affecting Melbourne and how much rain might fall there?

I think its going to be stronger than a Cat 3. 1st it shows a Cat 3 right before or when it starts going over the Loop Current. Gets that strong then the Windshear will have to eat away at it that is supposed to be there. Strong storms will create thier own environment over themselves. And what windshshear there is may help the outflow. As for the other option further south being weaker? I just dont see that either. Maybe not helping it but definately not hindering it either. I hope its nothing more than a depression at landfall but it will cross the deepest ocean heat content and if weaker may not upwell the deep hot water. I have been watching this for a week and found it concerning when nothing was gonna' happen except rain. In 36 hours it went from an elongated tropucal system to a Cat3. We have 4 more days with a cold front that will add the outflow. A definate worst case scenario unfortunately. I say Cat 4 or 5. In 4 days if I am wrong I will gladly wear an idiot hat or Dunce Cap. I think the winshear from this front coming down will enhance the outflow and aid the upflow. But it depends on timing. And I hope to gawd the forecasts 48 or 72 hours ago was right. Just a weak tropical storm or depression or low end Cat 1 and nothing more than a rain maker.

Florida temperatures are much much higher than Portland Oregon. So hot indeed that everyone should move to Portland because the temperatures are so beautiful there. As I said also California and New York and Kensington Pennsylvania. Anything but Florida no one else should move to Florida especially Palm Beach county.

I always suggest following official information in regards to evacuations. Honestly, that far inland, I don’t think there are official evacuation zones. Maybe suggested zones near large lakes, but I doubt mandatory. -Rusty

Florida of 2024 a lot different from the Florida of 2004 absolutely. Weather forecasting far better now than then as well...as it needs to be actually. Florida with a population total of 500,000 for the entire State was not that long ago actually on or about 70 Years hence now and luckily the USA coming out of World War 2 knew all too well what massive tropical events actually meant back then but that didn't stop Florida population going from 500,000 to 25,000,000 million today absolutely.
