Those drawbridge bedmates at the bow are a great yet basic improvement from the narrow beds of yesteryear. I’m willing to bet that a deep slumber on a Narrowboat is akin to a good night’s sleep whilst camping, fishing and holiday making trips.

Actually I sleep on them 4 nights a week every week, summer and winter and they are as comfortable as the mattress. I’ve got a great mattress. Cheers Tim

G'day. On Stelvio, what is the capacity of the diesel tank for the generator? Also; can you please make a video with the generator running, and compare the sound levels with a diesel powered boat? By the way, very nice boats...

Hi Mate, The diesel tank is about 80 litres. On Stevlio the genny is forward and needs it's own tank. There is another 200L aft, this is for the Eberspatcher and Reflecs stove. It would be hard to do a sound comparison. Generators vary hugely as do motors. Best scenario is to have a good genny in a cocoon forward and you hardly hear it aft when outside. That said solar power is silent and the genny on Stelvio only has 27hrs on the clock. Thanks for the kind comments. Tim

Hi there and thanks for your kind comments. Narrowboats have to be 6'10" wide but can be any lenght up to 70' - so quite long. And no special licence required - Tim

@@mothership_marine ne approfitto se non disturbo troppo, quanto può costare un narrowboat a propulsione elettrica ( non credevo che ne esistessero già, bravi ) ? ho visto filmati di narrowboat che navigavano in mare, neanche li è richiesta nessuna patente? Lo chiedo perché in Italia se l’imbarcazione supera i 10 metri è necessaria la patente nautica. Grazie

Roughly our boats start at £250k which is to a high speciation and has many inclusions not in other boat specs. Hope this helps. Tim

What kind of engine are in the boats ?

Hi Gregg - An electric motor is in essence a very simple thing. I have use 'branded' motors before but when I found out the 'brands' buy their motors from the big electric motor manufactures I thought I could do better. Narrowboats opperate in very specific environments. Narrowboats are heavy and slow. So a large slow turning prop is the most efficient. I get my motors especially wound from a company in Europe. They are 15kW PMAC direct drive either water cooled or air cooled. They have 8 poles and an upgraded internal bearing/thrust system that eliminates the need for a thrust block. They are beautifully engineered and very very quiet. Cheers Tim

@@wadawads it really depends on a bunch of factors. How fast you are going and how much solar energy you pick up are the big too. The one thing that I can say for sure though is that while I have to manage what power I use I have never run out of power. Even after a month of travel. Tim

Where are your basic prices who could or would pay for a narrowboat the price of a flat? No one. You need to bring it down to 100,000

I turned the audio off because you kept smacking your lips, and it got tedious. You didn't specify the headroom, only "it's a bit taller". (Stelvio) Nice boats though, and as electric propulsion and battery life improve, I can see you being in the right place at the right time, in the market, to capitalize. I wish you success.
