Two big dumb things at one work bench. Let's talk about this Stihl 090 Chainsaw, the differences between it and an 070 and comparison in size between it and a McCulloch 10-10 and Super Pro 125.
Really a cool, simple and powerful saw that I'm impressed by. Happy to have one come through the shop here that needs a few tweaks!

New to the channel... are you the same as Duke's saw parts on ebay? If so I spent the afternoon with Bellhopper and he really bragged on you!

What fuel mixture do you recommend using in the 090? Can I run synthetic 50:1 fuel mixture in a saw that old?

My dad and uncle never bragged about saws from that era except for the Macs. It seemed they were the most reliable. The Stihls were to finicky and hard to get parts for. It is so interesting being the end user of saws. I cant imagine being like you and other mechanics adapting to new models/styles ALL THE FRICKING TIME!

I really stick to the brands we sell when fixing for the professional end of things. Especially for parts lists, serial number breaks and more. It makes a ton of sense. Now for the pleasure end of things or for one off type situations I will accept things that interest me just to learn a little more. Especially when it is something that is my own. All the stuff is the "same" but a little bit different. I'm no master mechanic, but it helps keep me honest and can learn a new thing or two by fooling around.
