@@xhoelmuca7911 Yaaa. The prowess of both bands stand and always will stand the test of time, I think they're on the same level in that way. As for the vocal ability and talent, showmanship and individuality, goes without saying both Freddie and Serj have that *thing,* like they were born to perform
@@ИванТерлецкий-ж5л Not really true... It's just punk and metal fused together. Not really that much of a stretch since they're both really high energy, hard hitting sub-genres of rock. And then there's some random folk themes thrown in, so it gets a unique sound. I wouldn't call it genre-defying, though.
I think the orchestra makes it BETTER. And they know hes an oddball. His performance wasnt anything out of the ordinary for him. They probably expected exactly what they got.
Not just considered. You literally cannot find how he conducts music elsewhere. Closest thing is jack black going through vocal range but thats still not even close lol
That's funny that you mention his range, especially with a work like this.. This looks like a Mike Patton project although Mike has Serj beat to the 6th. Patton is pretty phenomenal though, he did the VA for things like Darkness (video game) and single handedly pioneered the "zombies" from I Am Legend. I think Mike would have done a much better job with this imo.
Logikael Impakt Senzory Overload Mike Patton dont have 6 octaves dude, theirs fans that believe he have. He problably have 4 and a half octaves, some of his high screams dont count bc u dont have any pitch, its just some random scream that anyone can do if u push ur throat with tension.
sefsadf asfasf exactly, big range is nothing if u dont know how to use it, there are a bunch of people who have more range than freddy mercury but cant do any thing he could.
Serj is so talented and underrated, I mean look at him singing in 4 different voices, this man is a genius and I listen to his songs without getting tired of them.
Serj used to be so talented* Go watch him performing live with SOAD in the last 2/3 years. It's quite sad. He sounds totally different now. This performance was from the golden era of Serj.
@@truuuupR There's something called ageing so it's normal to sound different after so many years considering they were screaming a lot in their songs and voice boxes deteriorate over the years if you sing their style
@@hananabujawayed1351 age plays a big part. But there's countless singers/vocalists that have retained their sound and ability after decades of singing, some are even older than Serj. It seems time wasn't so kind to him though. Makes me sad hearing him sounding like Squidward on stage singing some of those iconic SOAD songs.
the many voices of serj 0:28 - 0:46 little girl 0:49 way to nasaly 1:25 - 1:26 old serj low notes 2:09 - 2:11 brief woman opera singer 3:03 - 3:05 soad suggestions chorus 3:08 - 3:17 just normal serj
If you listen closely you can hear Daron Malakian yelling in the distance and hear Shavo sobbing but if you're a really good listener you can hear John giving absolutely 0 fucks
Just in case anyone is taking the nasal thing seriously, it's an homage to the vocal sound of the late 1800's ("Hello my baby, hello my honey", for example). You can hear him switching in and out of it, so he's doing it as an effect or mockery of the quality of a grammophone, not an unintentional tone related to a forced change in his technique due to vocal problems from singing in a less healthy way.
Fighting in this war, he is one of the greats, expecially in the new years of metal. He, Rob Halford and a few other have the best stage presence for me
Joe F he has stopped doing metal. This music is just as good, if not better. It all depends on the style that you like, however serj has done an amazing job at any genre he has touched so far. This includes: Rock, metal, classical, electronical, jazz and i'm sure i've missed some.
Are you SURE he stopped doing metal? I am a big fan of one of his new hits if you haven't heard it, type it in the RU-vid space bar and listen to it. The song I'm talking about is " Figure it out. " Or is it " Let's figure it out." It's not metal, but it's Hard-Rock and it's a GREAT song!.
@@contains5juice22 Noone can do every range... He has a very big range tho. But he also uses alot of different technique's to make it seem even wider. His range is big, but it's not as big as you would think.
imo serj tankian is probably the best living singer right now, he can go from low to high instantly, he can do the scream (which is one of the hardest thing in the music world) and he has so many voices... my man
Not to downplay his screams because they are great but I don’t think screams should be classified as one of the hardest things to do. Doing them as good as serj is insanely hard but the technique itself isn’t super hard.
I always find it interesting to watch orchestras and choirs working with rock bands or left-field musicians. You tend to notice some of the instrumentalists getting into it and enjoying the weirdness, whereas others really seem unhappy. I'm noticing a lot of the latter in this video... :/
Yeah thats why I gotta to show this to my friend in orchestra 1.because I like Serj's music 2.I want to see him react to this (maybe make him ask his teacher to play it in one of there performance's for $50 bucks I wonder if he would if so XD)
03:03 I miss that kind of attitude and screams. I actually LOVE his new style, but, man, he's not the same guy as he was during SOAD times. I really miss his energy and unique screams :C And I'm very sure I'm not the only one!
besides metallica did S&M they had their guitars and everything, the music just change in that case, but here in this symphonic version of serj's songs, they sound completely different, you have a whole new perspective, and i personally believe that this style suits serj's music better
Calm them titties and think before you speak. Both are AMAZING. But serj better than Metallica? That's a bold statement. But we all have opinions don't we;)
