Sermon Brainwave 949: First Sunday in Lent - February 18, 2024 

Thank you for this so much. As an external processor I find sermon writing so difficult to simply begin without a dialogue partner to help me know what I think. So thank you for that. Regarding the “wild beasts” and keeping with the them of struggle I believe Mark has one eye on the persecuted church he’s writing for. Many of his ‘parishioners’ would have known what it was to see their brothers and sisters being killed by the wild beasts in the public space. Knowing that (the resurrected) jesus was present in that moment, where the wild things are, would have brought comfort and hope that death is not the end.
