Abp. Vigano is courage personified! When History, current and past looks back on this Great Man they will compare him to the great Athanasius as he stood up almost entirely by himself to defend the Doctrine and Magisterium of our beloved and Most Holy Catholic Church while almost all of the other Bishops and Cardinals remained silent and chose not to rise from their cushy seats but were content not to rock the boat and watch while our beautiful traditional church would be completely desecrated. I’m 84 years of age and catechised many years before Vatican 11. The only benefit of the Novus Ordo is that my Protestant husband was able to understand the words used during the Mass. However, I love the traditional Latin Mass: even if Pope Francis continues to try to abolish it he won’t succeed. The creation of the New Mass finished my acceptance of Vatican II.... the seeds of division and destruction were obvious to me right there and I was a teenager. I found it very shallow, just a shell of what I was used to and loved that called me to stand tall and focused on God. 1,500 years of clarity, ritual, meaning and understanding of evil.... it was the human beings in the leadership that dis-honoured the Church that needed to change, not the Church. I hope that V's action gives clarity and courage to others - there has been a schism in the Church since Vatican II, he has just brought it out into the open and into the light and I thank him and pray for him to have the strength and fortitude to stand strong. His action has given me hope for the future of His Church and confirmed my trust in God.... He and His Mother have not abandoned us to the spiritual darkness of these times
I feel much the same. I took Latin in high school and understood the Latin mass. I thought a good translation into the vernacular would be great though. But the translations were not good; they were more like an outline of the mass. Too much was lost. And so many people left the Church, just the opposite of what my classmates expected! The excommunication of a holy person cannot harm him as long as he remains faithful, because God is more faithful still.
I admire you guys for your faithfulness. People of your generation who I'm close to jumped into the new liturgy head first. I'm gen x and was born into Vatican 2 but found the traditional faith about 3 years ago and haven't looked back.

I have listened to Archbishop Viganò over the last 3-4 years, mainly during the Covid debacle, where he gave me and my family the strength to stand firm in refusing the shot. This beautiful human being, with his wise words of love and peace has single handedly brought me back to my faith after decades in the wilderness, as I knew the church had become wholly corrupted. I truly love the TLM and agree with traditional Catholics about the bad fruits of Vatican II. I would appreciate someone explaining to me why Vigano waited so long to voice his dissent regarding the Second Vatican Council. I mean, surely he identified its break with continuity long before Francis became Pope. Please resist the urge to attack me for asking a simple question. I am very sympathetic to Vigano. I just want to understand better how all this transpired.
Please don't mention Martin Luther. He created the mess we have today in the protestant world with 35,000 plus denominations. He broke his vow of celibacy and married a nun who also broke ver vow. There is no conparason there. That would be an insult to the other people we haven mentioned along with Archbishop Vigano.
I like much of this homily but, on there being only two sides it's just not the case from a lived experience. You're dealing with humans full of emotion and irrationality. There will be a multitude of sides spanning the two sides. It;s what humans do they equivocate. This is a significant moment for Trads yes it is but, this situation will stay unresolved until sufficient penance and reparation has been done for the laxity of Catholics prior to the Vatican 2 revolution. We still in the first stages of this punishment.
Honestly speaking, Bergoglio has rather excommunicated himself, instead of being able to excommunicate a true believer and faithfull Catholic archbishop. Unfortunately, today there is no emperor of the Holy Empire available to make this clear to a broader public, as would have happened in earlier centuries.
He may not be the first, but he has as much guts as the ones who proceeded him. Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre was a holy man indeed and I hope some day our church will recognize him as the Saint he is. What he did was very courageous indeed. God bless him and all the others who proceeded Archbishop Vigano. One day, all of them will be given the credit they deserve. I will pray for Archbishop Vigano and I would very much wish to stand with him. I remember many years of cringing with the NO Mass. The loss of reverence the lack of experience of the Holy Spirit, receiving Communion as if I were eating popcorn (even though I always receive on the tongue). Alltogether grim to say the least. The problem for me and I guess for a lot of people particularly in Europe is that there are no options. In my parish it is always a reasonable NO Mass without reverence. I have great difficulty with Pope Francis. If he had been prime minister in a democracy he would never have survived in office, because of his injustices and abuses of power, I don't need to enumerate them. One of the gravest abuses is his advancement of heretics and heresies as well as public sinners, also that he actively promotes heresy particularly in the area of human sexuality. I became a catholic in 1970 so in fact I have only experienced the VatII Church. In the 80's I discovered Cardinal Ratzinger and his book: Introduction to Christianity. I loved him as Pope and still do and am horrified at the treatment of him by some of his bishops. I love his idea of the hermeneutic of continuity it makes it possible to survive in the Church after Vat II. Rupture with Archbishop Vigano not possible at least not for me because my faith has come to me from Ratzinger/Pope Benedict, The Chatechism - his books on Jesus of Nazareth. If you buy the Ignatius commentary on NT (hopefully soon the OT) also it is built on the theology after Vat II, Scott Hahn, John Bergsma, Brant Pitre, the New Adventure Bible, Jeff Cavins, Mary Healy, etc etc. I cannot suddenly turn around and go away from what I have absorbed over so many years. I know that chatechism has been very bad since VatII, but there are good things out there! If only the Pope and the hierarchy would change and leave off being heretical! How about that?❤

Thank you for reminding me of what Pope Benedict said about the office of the Pope. Wonderful good words! However, the disgrace of promoting Rupnik McKerrick and the like while persecuting good bishops like Bishop Stickland is the particular stamp of this Pontificate not to mention the new synodal church - what happened to poor Cardinal Pell! How does this altogether fit in with Pope Benedict's beautiful words? ❤
The Church is not the same, and I am concerned with the direction it is taking. I accept Pope Francis to be the legitimate Pope, but I acknowledge the concerns of Archbishop Vigano. I pray for them both and hope that the Holy Spirit will guide them to the truth.

I'll tell you what I do. And I have been in the Church forever. Just love our Lord with all your heart and His holy mother and the saints. Our church has gone through difficult periods during our 2,000 + years of existence. Pray for our Chruch daily. And do what Padre Pio advises us to do: 1. Pray. 2. Hope. 3. Don't worry. Do that and attend mass at your local church and we'll all be OK. God bless you.

Vatican II is a pastoral council (read the first few pages), nothing dogmatic in it. So, what would be the big hoopla if his excellently wasn’t in bed with it?.
Why did the "pastoral" council promulgated *dogmatic* constitution like Lumen Gentium ? And even if it were not dogmatic, you would still need to submit to the decisions of an oecumenical council, whether it concerns dogmas or discipline
Here is what I see. The Doctrine of the true Catholic faith is internally harmonious, with all of its parts balancing and supporting all the rest, in a proper and fitting proportionality and order. Anything less cannot be from God. In contradistinction the Doctrine of the heretics is hegemonic and oppressive, with its various parts being internally incoherent and each vying for dominance over the other. Such conditions reduce the Church of God into a mere left/right political entity. This, in point of fact, is the present, momentary reality. The Doctrine that seems to have won out and to have achieved post-conciliar dominance in our time is that of the pernicious doctrine of Ecumenism. All else must either be radically modified and altered by any needed means, to acquiesce to the demands and criteria of this man made ecumenism, this Unity über Alles. All this is done without acknowledgement that Unity at the expense of Truth is clearly demonic, these unbelieving monsters occupying their usurped positions of power have cast aside the essentials of the immutable Faith, even and including the bodily resurrection of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and decided to make their own man-made Chimera. The ape of the Church, and have displaced the loving guidance of true and believing shepherds with tyranny, fear and oppression. There is a solution. Vatican II must be cast aside as the “bad council” prophesied by Our Lady of La Salette and Our Lady of Good Success.. Without doing so the restoration of the true Catholic faith cannot be re-established. That’s how I’ve come to see it.
I wonder how this sermon is aligned with the Gospel last Sunday. Father Gregory tackles a relevant event in the Church today, but I don't understand how this speech is more important than the message of the Gospel. This can be a public letter/message to the Pope and to all Catholics, but not a sermon during Sunday Mass. Please don't use the Liturgy as a platform for personal advocacies.

Those of us who reject the council do so based on its contradiction of previous magisterium. Even Francis admits there is no hermeneutic of continuity. He insists that what the vatican says now is what is the faith and the old must be discarded. I reject that because that position rejects all the previous popes and councils. If it is a choice between Vatican II and its popes and all the other councils and their popes, I'm with all the other popes
