Sermon preached by Rev. Thomas Farrow Jr. from Acts 28:1-6 entitled "Shake If Off." Acts 28 opens with Paul and company on the Mediterranean island of Malta. As he's gathering sticks to fuel a fire a viper fastens itself on Paul’s hand. While the natives were expecting him to swell up or die, the Bible says he “shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.” Paul's actions are suggestive of how we should deal with unhealthy attachments. Whether it’s guilt, bitterness or anger, some stuff we've just got to shake off in the name of Jesus.
