I love your videos guys and i'm watching this one many times, along with your serve tips and one handed backhand vids. But did this particular video need the 'like and subscribe' bell 50 times? I had to stop watching, 2 or 3 times would have been enough imo.
Best serve and volley instructions! Thanks! I played a top player who beat me easily and then I watched this video and served and volleyed. I was up 6-5 when he retired…he chickened out I think because I was crushing it! Thanks for another great video guys!
Excellent Solid Advice. Continue to promote and explain Serve and Volley... It's a dramatic and exciting strategy that is being lost in recent years for the most part.
Best video on S&V ever made ! Great job guys. I dunno if you are professionals or not, but you''re better than 99.9% of us all for sure. It's a shame players don't play S&V anymore like back in the days 3 of the 4 GS were on grass. Soo happy to see guys play on grass. I never did, and it looks really really fun. Excuse my French, but I think that S&V is to tennis what oral sex is to sex : there can never be too much of it, and when it's not here, it's soon repetitive and boring. On the other hand, when it's here, the whole game reaches new levels of fun, with tons of new angles and fun stuffs to do. It's also one of the best way to conclude the action
Thanks for watching Ernesto That comment has had me laughing for a good few minutes! Alex has competed in Grand Slams before and I played at futures level (ITF Pro Circuits) Are there any lessons you would like to see in the near future? All the best Simon
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Thanks for your answers. IDK. Something about smashes maybe ? OTW. I'm not too sure, but is your furry friend a Beagle ? I saw the typical white tail but it was always sniffing that good English lawn. My family had a Beagle and they are the best. Long life too your channel guys !
Very comprehensive on the serve and volley. Thanks. You're always kindly asking for lessons we'd like to see. Here's the $64,000 question. We all know most rec players play too much and practice too little. If you were to design a weekly or monthly practice routine for recreational tennis players to follow for general improvement/maintenance of their play and fitness, what would it be (now there's a PDF for you!).
Ty sir Simon for the wonderful content I am eagerly waiting for this video to turn live. I am not good at serve and volley thing and literally thinking 💭 about it at night before going to bed and went I wake up in the morning I just get a notification a new video posted by u. Ty so very much👍🏻
Top Tennis Training - Pro Tennis Lessons sir I just want that u put regularly put videos. I can watch any tennis 🎾 related content. I wish that u put two videos in a week.🙏🏻
I used serve and volley all the time......didn't have a big serve and was quick, so it gave me the best chance of winning. I modeled my game after Stefan Edberg. Now I serve and pray
Amazing I've always been an agresive baseline player but now I know how to counter players using this style You guys are awesome keep up the great work 👌
Great video guys. Very informative to see that little 'punch cut' on the volley to generate the necessary backspin, something we discussed on a related post over on Instagram in the last day or so Simon. (I was bemoaning my under-hitting of volleys off medium paced shots). Grew up playing on grass too, so this was also a lovely trip down memory lane :)
Thank you for watching Gerard Hopefully this will help you win more points at the net Are there any lessons you would like to see in the near future? All the best Simon
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Playing Doubles later so I'll be taking some of the tips into action ;) Optimum lessons for me are how to get the best out of crocked 53 year old knees! Jokes aside, backhand return of serve is what I'm working concentrate on. Have undergone a grip/stroke change since the beginning of the year, to rally/compete better with the younger guns, especially on the fab Clay courts in the club. Something that didn't exist when I learnt to play on grass/tarmac courts as a Junior 40+ years ago.
I have been trying to find some vids to improve my serve volley... my serve was good enough to get short balls and my volleys are also pretty good but I wasn't able to link the two. Thanks for helping me out with the transition - I'll try tossing the ball more out in front and using a stutter step instead of a split step!
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial yeah I would love to see a lesson on strength training for forehand power. I think I need to work on exploding and having the strength to have a faster forehand. Thank you!
Good video. It's nice to know you guys appreciate 90s tennis even though you're modern coaches (if i recall right, Simon's said Sampras is his favorite player of all time). PS.Simon, just curious, what mph range do your fastest serves tend to reach? Your flat serves look like they have pretty decent pace.
Thanks for watching and the support. The last time I had my serve speed measured I was hitting between 115-120 mph but that was 2008ish Now, I have no idea, I'd love to to test out my different methods and see which one actually produces the fastest serve. Need a proper speed gun though, some of the cheaper ones are terrible. All the best Simon
Three main reasons: 1. The slowing down of the game. Slower and bigger balls, slower court surfaces. This was done by design by the tennis powers since they wanted more “entertaining” rallies. Well now we have baseline bots who only go to net to shake hands. 2. Equipment revolution. It’s much easier to create high RPM on the ball now with the rackets and strings. Nadal would struggle to pass Pete Sampras with a 1990s stiff frame, especially if the courts and balls were fast. 3. Players don’t work on it like previous generations. They don’t see the point in spending 20-30 minutes a day drilling the serve and volley since it doesn’t reward them
Alex ,it was like watching a horror. Chance hitting the poor dog with a body(blow)serve. Thank God it didn't happen. Watched it second time, excellent and instructional.
Whoah. Nice serves Man My serve and and volley not quite at this level ! !!! Though I'm serving daily And working on trophy and moving forward And spins and placement Slice on deuce is problematic And top to backhand on ad sides going ok !
Start doing interval sprints, 30 second sprint 30 rest, then when get better do 40 sprint 20 rest for 15 sets, at maximum sprint speed you can do. Fast and effective
I am a aggressive baseliner whenever I approach to the net I hit a good approach shot but when volley comes I loose the confidence and always hit miss hits or hit near the opponent and then he hits a passing I am very good at baseline but as I get inside the court chances of my mistake increases
try doing your split step further away from the net, that way you can cover the lob. also if they do a perfect lob all the time, it may mean that your serve or approach shot is not doing much damage. when you approach the net, your should be forcing the opponent to stretch to return, or run forward to hit the low ball. because if you don't and they have plenty of time to aim their shots, you will be facing a lot of good lobs or passing shots. think of it this way, only approach the net if you are confident that your shot forces your opponent to make a bad return, if not don't approach and go back to recovery position at the baseline
Mix up the serves, different spins, different targets etc Keep the returner guessing. And you improve your serve here - ru-vid.com/group/PLJP-Wou-v6z3GzxDNn8ASj4qDSIgyaHPX
18:36 Simon at the service line correctly judges the return to be sailing long. I find this hard to see when I'm close to the net. My serves have a lot of topspin, so returns tend to pop up high. How can I get better at judging when to retreat for the overhead and when to let it go?
