Service Dog Cuddles 9-Year-Old Boy with Autism While Lying in Hospital 

I work at a shelter and almost all of our dogs are adopted out to be service dogs. We've had PTSD, autism, seizures, diabetes and countless other issues and watching these animals be able to help and visibly see the person calm down is so amazing

A service dog can be a miracle worker for people with autism. Ever since my brother got his service dog, it is like he has become a whole new person. He has had his service dog for over 4 years now. Having a friend (the dog) who loves him for who he is and being able to tell him everything that is on his mind has helped my brother overcome many of his obstacles.

What did we do to deserve dogs?

James is doing great, the MRI was pretty routine. Those of us in James's life are amazed at how far his story has gone and all the attention it has brought, especially to Assistance Dogs New Zealand who trained Mahe. James is an amazing kid who I am very lucky to work with and see every week. Mahe is an awesome companion and a great help for keeping James safe and calm out in public. He has opened up James's world so much. I am one of James's caregivers and work closely with him and Mahe (for almost 2 years now)

SOOOOOOOO SWEET 🐶🐕 Do the doctors know what caused the seizures?

I can't sleep in hospitals since it's too anxiety provoking for me, especially when I have tubes and lines stuck in me since I hate needles. I asked if there were any therapy dogs to help me relax. Lo and behold this beautiful golden retriever was brought in and I was out like a light within 30 minutes; no sleeping aid needed. Throughout my stay there was always a dog near when I couldn't sleep.

I am so grateful to see Inside Edition using people-first language to describe James. It's refreshing to see!

It's like me with my cat except I had him there with me ever since I was born. He grew up with me and was my guardian angel.

That's the same with me when I was nine I had 4 seizers in a row brought to hospital I had to get an MRI and a lumber puncture as the doctors thought I had meningitis

I have autism.. This just makes me feel a lot better.. I'm also about 10. Now I really want that dog. Mum please get me that dog.

I work at a place that trains dogs like these and I get to see them graduate and go to their families and it is such a magical moment I never forget.

My step brother is autistic but when my dad met my step mom my dad helped him act better now he is like a normal person you can tell he has autism anymore :) :)
