I have a 2021 and same issue. Dealer replaced wiring harness apparently (waited 6 months for it to arrive). Problem persists and now it is every 5 seconds when driving. Trying another dealer.
Thanks for watching. Heard this before. I’d be sure they really replaced it. I say this because it is a legit pain in the ass to replace. The amount of fishing it pretty intense. If they did replace it, I wonder if they paid attention ruin to where they hung the wire and protected it so it wouldn’t run and short out again.
Thanks for watching. My dealer thought the same and unfortunately it didn’t do the trick. They need to replace the wire harness. It’s a short circuit and it should be a recall but Jeep know it’s a huge expensive issue and won’t do it
@@WheresArtyAndTwExplorers so my mechanic did not change out the power steering module. He found the wiring harness behind the glove box and showed me all the welds that were cracked. He changed that out. $500 fix instead of a $2,300 fix. So far it's been 4 days and no problems
I’m having the same issue with my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited. All kinds of codes, they cleared it and it was fine for a day and then started back up. They think it’s the ABS Module or the Vacuum pump.
So long story short it was the wiring harness that connected the dash with a steering control modular. They replaced the entire harness it’s been 4 months now and over 10k mikes no issues. I suspected there was so rubbing of the wire due to the death wobble issue I had for a year.
I don’t understand either. I had to explain to them what I think it is, it should be a recall. I have traded the 18 in for a 21. At 61k no issues yet knock on wood haha
I’m having the same issue. Just purchased a used 2020 wrangler about 2 months ago and it’s been at the dealership almost that entire time. Just picked it up again and didn’t even make it home. Now I’m having to take it back tomorrow IF I can get it to start long enough to get it on the highway.
@@TheJonathanRaper so it’s has to do with the power steering and traction control if I remember. If you have even experience the death wobble most people I talk to say that thst constant vibration losses the harness and it rubs against the metal causing a short circuit
Just took in my 2018 JL for the 2nd time because of this problem. The first time that the dealership "fixed it" the ABS module was replaced because it was the problem. I had it 3 days (over the weekend) after the first visit and the check engine light came on. Well today, I drove over some railroad tracks and all theses alerts went off. When I arrived to a four way stop sign the "D" gear was blinking. The jeep was telling me to shift into park. It would not let me engage the drive gear. So i shifted into park and banged on that mother f'er. Right on the side of the shifter console between the passenger seat, more mid range not totally low to the floor matt. Whatever was loose I knocked it right. Although, I still did have these alarms;service shifter, service engine, service AWD, air bags, a bunch more I cannot remember, it was pretty nuts. I took it straight to dealership and was told " theres a couple more harnesses, we're going to look into them" all i got from that was ; the second option from the last repair is most likely to blame and not the first like we originally thought. We'll see how it goes after this visit 🤞
THANKS FOR WATCHING THE VIDEO. THIS SOUNDS LIKE WHAT WAS HAPPENING OT ME LAST YEAR. FROM APRIL TILL MID JULY, I TOOK THE JEEP INTO THE SHOP MANY TIMES. AT ONE POINT THEY HAD IT FOR 6 WEEKS. THE DEALER SHIP NEVER CAME CLEAN AND TOLD ME WHAT THE ISSUE WAS TOTALY, BUT FROM WHAT I GATHERED IT WAS A WIRE THAT WAS CUT AND EXPOSED AND NEEDED TO REPLACE THE HARNESS . ON TYOP OF ALL THIS THEY LEWFT MY JEEP OUTSIDE WITH THE ROOF OPEN DURING A RAIN STORM. HOPFULY THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED. i HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM SINCE SO HOPEFULLY YOU WILL HAVE THE SAME LUCK
YWA AFTER 6 WEEKS IN THE SHOP, THE FIGURED IT WAS A WIRE HARNESS THAT RUNS FROM THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE THAT CONTROLLED LIKE THE STEERING STABLIZATION AND TRANS. THIS HAPPENS WITH JEEPS OCCATIONALLY BECASUE THE HARNESS GETS LOOSE AND WHEN YOU HIT BUMPS AND RUBS AGAINST METAL AND EVENTIUALLY SHOTS OUT. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE HARNESS FROM THE SORCE BACK TO THE COMPUTER. ITS BEEN 12 MONTH NOW AND HAVE NO HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE
IT ENDED UP BEING LIKE 500 GIVE OR TAKE FOR THE WORK. TOOK THEM 6 WEEKS TO FIGURE IT OUT AND GET THE PART EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM GOING INTO IT IM PRETTY SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I TRIED REPEARING IT MYSELD BUT THROWING SOME ELECTRICAL TAPE OVER THE WAER ON THE WIRE, BUT IT ENDED UP BEING IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS ON THE HARNESS
@@WheresArtyAndTwExplorers just got it today. Total of 6 weeks. So happy to have it back. Lost it, my steering column module and stereo from water damage.
So it’s a wire harness issue that has to do with Power steering and traction control. If you let it sit for a bit it might start up but you risk loosing your PS while driving. Also you dash board will go crazy too. Best way to fix is to bring it to the dealer. I went to 3 different ones even though I knew what the issue was. It should be a recall.
I hope that every single one here who has or has had the problem files a NHTSA safety report. That may trigger an investigation. I had this same issue on my 2021 JLUR. In my case it was a chafing harness near the bell housing of the transmission. Rather than waiting on a backorder harness, the dealer tech and I agreed to simply repair the chafed insulation. It fixed the problem, but I am afraid it is only a matter of time until another harness or connector chafes somewhere. I'm keeping an eye on all my harnesses and will put tape on all areas that look like they may chafe (e.g. sway bar harness).
@@shortk23 There are several potential points of failure of the CAN Bus wiring. In my case it was on the right side of the transmission housing. For others it was behind the glove box, for others under the passenger seat, for other near the front sway bar disconnect.
