Hey it's me again. Got another few questions. I got my 19HC45 CCII going but the focus needs to be turned almost all the way clockwise to look sharp. I'll assume a weak tripler but there are a couple other oddities. First, there is a pincushion distortion. Would bad capacitors on the horizontal module cause this? I've also noticed that when turning the set on, if you look down behind the convergence board, there is a small spark that flashes once in addition to having to turn some convergence controls all the way to look the best. I haven't gotten behind there to clean but i'm assuming that is caused by the heavy buildup of dust (looks like nicotine dust). Lastly, a question about the vertical module. After reading a series of forums, it seems like the 9-92 boards are bad. The one in mine is a 9-92b. Since it still works, I'll just leave it but is it one of those things that will certainly go bad and break something un-replaceable?
Alot going on here. 1st, make sure your set has the orange safety capacitor beneath the horizontal output transistor heatsink. If it's white, there's part of your problem Bad focus can be trippler related, but first check the resistor from the ground side of the trippler to chassis. Think it's 10 ohms or something like it. If it goes up in value it will effect hv. Rarely do the caps on the horiz board cause pincushion failure. More likely missing voltage to pincushion transformer, circuit or bad transformer itself Check supply voltages to convergence board if controls are at extremes. Yes, arcy sparky can be cause by filth. Clean thoroughly and check hv lead for arc through or faulty insulation The vertical modules weren't great, but not unrepairable. The later fixed problems with output transistor failure. If the vert goes out, you will also get no raster by design so that no burn in of a line occurs on the screen
If you need the sams let me know. I have a few of those and they all have issues, haven't got to them yet. Not sure I agree that they are super reliable
A Sam's would be great. I'm sure I'm going to run into issues on this one between power supply, hv and the color problem. Most of the ones I've had we're relatively straightforward. This one is a bit of a mess
We have a space 80 Andrea we used 25version of this chassis eliminated tube chassis.works well.😎20yrs tripler hard to find today' thought have a 19for parts
Check 24v power supply If ok, check vertical output (no sweep blanks the screen) Check high voltage with hv probe only. If not check horizontal sweep circuits.
