In this video I take you along the service of the high precision GMN "Tempo" spindle of my Schütte WU50 universal grinding machine. This machine type was built in Köln over a period ranging from around the 1970s up into the 2000s! The spindle is a marvel of German high precision engineering and fabrication. The service work reveals the condition of it's vital parts and allows for very thorough cleaning and the required renewal of the spindle grease packing. The spindle needs to be adjusted for axial play, which concludes the service work along with a test of the radial runout, which amounts to less than 1 micrometer!
The new intro music is composed and played by my good friend Churu. Please stop by his site to check out his work: linktr.ee/churu.gtr
