I would like to see a follow-on video where we take a deeper dive into positional variants and try to improve this watch. The subject of adjustment in various positions is one that is only briefly addressed by famous youtuber watchmakers, so I have a strong feeling that you might be the man up to the task.
What a fantastic restoration and narration.. Having just returned from London, it was quite entertaining to listen to his commentary thru the repair sequence..and his somewhat quips of processes or procedures... Entertaining to say the least...as well as as educational.Thank you Sir... Sounded like Robin Leach...
One of the best narrated videos of this kind ever! A delightful cross between Stewie from Family Guy and a 1950's public service announcer, simply amazing! The servicing of the watch was nicely done too, thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the little bits of history too.
A few years ago, my father purchased a Bentley branded watch from a TV shopping channel here in Taiwan. He thought the brand was somehow affiliated with Bentley the car manufacturer. Let's just say, we had an animated discussion that night. I instinctively knew the watch had zero connection with the luxury carmaker, but couldn't figure out the story behind the brand. Thanks to your little history lesson on Avia, now I do. Clearly, Avia is now in the business of licensing out its numerous brands to various watch manufacturers, thus the resurrection of Bentley in Asia. Wonderful video. Great workmanship. Love the snarky tone.
I loved this watch servicing sir, always a good thing to see someone having a good sense of humor doing they're job/hobby., subbed the channel of course.
I would very much like to see a video about the importance and techniques of adjusting a watch for multiple positions. Thanks for being informative and entertaining.
Absolutely fantastic commentary and sense of humour! Enjoyed every minute of the video. Glad I stumbled across your channel, excellent style and camera work. Looking forward to more video 👍 Regards Jason
Just a little tip on your audio: if you're using some noise removal / noise gate / de-esser software, it's being far too aggressive which is causing your great voice to sound too clipped!
I'm going back through your older videos. I would like a deep dive on positional accuracy if you wouldn't mind. I just serviced a seiko 7S26 and my DU, DD, CU, CD, and CR are all decent at +- 3 seconds, but my CL sucks at +16.
I've had a coupla "Corvettes" they're difficult to research. I had no idea they were Avia's. I've not found Avias to be very good and of course they were killed by going balls deep into quartz......just before quartz watches started being given away free with a tank of petrol. 😂
Hi Tony. It's definitely a conversation. All of the energy in the balance wheel is provided to it by the pallet fork. Then (in reply) balance wheel the gives some of that energy back to the pallet fork to unlock the escape wheel and start the next cycle. Cheers!
aha! i dunno much about watch servicing terminologies...but if you are talking about its PHYSICS, watchmakers / tekkies would put NEWTON's and Einstein's choice of words (conservation of mass and energy) to some sort of poetic injustice... nice video btw @@GentlemensWatchServices
This is a little embarrassing. I did find some adverts from 1966 for Corvette watches, but due to an editing boondoggle missed that section from the final upload. When purchased new it cost around £200 pounds in today’s money
