This is an personal video about me
servicing a Philips N4520 tape recorder.
I use the dutch Service Manual and I try to explain what I am doing
as much as possible, but sometimes that is a little bit difficult
because English is not my first language.
Please be aware also that I am a well-meaning amateur and
I am not a certified engineer. I do this as a hobby and
therefore service the device on a 'best effort' base.
I know that I do not execute the Service Manual completely
but some steps are impossible to do or just plain b******t.

Informative. Goed gedaan! I lost my N5420 in a storage fire back in Amsterdam NL were I lived. En hier in BC heb geen Philips; enkel Akai, Sansui en Pioneer R2R's. Anyways so some good universal aplicable trouble shoot maintenance and calibration tips here. Transparent tape? I wouldn't never have thought about it. Again interesting video!

Thanks for this Video. What do you think, how many Versions are out on the market? I saw one, that had some "set in" Plate on the front. Never saw that one before. Then of course the first wave, but there are more different types, same technique and same outlooking but inside it is a bit different

Could be hundreds of things. If you are not able to troubleshoot yourself, I suggest you bring the deck to a service person in your area. I hope he/she can fix it!
