great great watchmaker indeed, as a true Maestro: one question, if I can…I saw from many rolex movements two or three jewels near the calendar wheel I think not used (the date ring seat)…do you know why they put them in it? Just to add two jewels more to the movement (27 instead 25)?
@magicofwheels
@magicofwheels Год назад
they are there to prevent metal rubbing against metal. In this case of rolex you mentioned, the date ring and the plate
@fulvioplatania3091
@fulvioplatania3091 Год назад
@@magicofwheels maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't see the ring date touching the jewels to the plate

How to regulating the accuracy of 3035?
@magicofwheels
@magicofwheels Год назад
you need a special tool call microstella which you use it to turn 4 screws (equal turn clockwise or anti-clockwise) located on the inner ring of the balance wheel

Great video . Can you explain how to get the balance moving ? When you placed it on there it started automatically rotating back and forth ? On Mine . It only moves if I spin it and then it stops . Please help .
@magicofwheels
@magicofwheels 2 года назад
Thank you. In my video you will notice how I gave it a wind before regulate and install balance. I mean there is enough power so even a slight touch to the pallet fork it will kick back so starts rotation.
@davidsimpson3380
@davidsimpson3380 Год назад
If the pallet fork and balance is removed from a movement, can the operation of the train wheels be tested? or do components from the dial side also need to be removed before train wheels move freely(hands /hour wheel)?
@magicofwheels
@magicofwheels Год назад
Me personally, I would remove the dial side components first. I don't want all the hands movinging like crazy fast. 😀

@@magicofwheels Thank-you for your reply .... I believe I have some debri caught in the train of wheels and was seeking an approach to removing that bridge and cleaning ...
@magicofwheels
@magicofwheels Год назад
Not sure if you were able to remove all the screws on the bridge?
@davidsimpson3380

@@magicofwheels I didn't think the screws would be a problem but realize that the center wheel would remain in place as its connected to the cannon pinion ...

Hi there! Sorry gor my ignorance what is the function of the jewels? Or why does some must be cleaned and oiled? Thanks in advance
@magicofwheels
@magicofwheels Год назад
In the movement, there are many gears or wheels that spin while the watch is in operation. Each spinning gear has the axis which is held by what we called bridge and plate. Without the jewels, imagine the metal axises spin rubbing against those metal bridges. Of course metal rubbing against metal cause friction and corrosion. The jewels are there implanted in the bridges right where the axises of the wheels spining against. Because the jewels, in this case ruby, is harder than metal and also smooth and slippery, they reduce friction and chance of corrosion. Yes, when we say "reduce" means something can be done in order to improve the performance. No doubt, some oil will do the job. And because the oil has lifespan, once the quality drops, the oil will become sticky and form dirty grease. This stickyness will effect time keeping because it slows down the spin of the gears. Hope that answers your question. 😀
