whoever designed this is genius. I'm sure it was a team effort. After watching this video halfway through, I knew it was worth upgrading to Komplete 15
Brilliant.. this is next level of AI. This feels like all my existing percussion plugins combined and given God level intelligence and a universe of rich samples.. Mic options, Spatial audio customizations... this plugin doesn't even need a mixer channel or other FX.. in LOVE NI.
@@NativeInstruments Huuu... where's the AI in this ? To me it looks like it's just a new midi editing interface with good samples. There's no AI in this.
@@NativeInstruments Huuu... that's still not AI, but a search engine. Not unlike what Toontrack is doing on their EzDrummer plugin. Not saying it's bad, it's actually super useful ! It's just not AI that's all.
This couldn't have come at a better time... I was looking at some other products, but this demo sold me on NI Session Percussionist and it's now a part of my musical arsenal!
This truly a whole new level. Was loving my XLN audio's XO in peace now I am restless. I want this too. This different from anything I have heard or had
This is the best thing I've ever seen, but I still miss the ability to drag loops into the project tracks. anyway , Native Instruments will forever be my first choice.
I was sold in probably 20 seconds. It reminded me of UVI Percussion Factory but I knew I would be more impressed. When I see something this intelligent or useful to me, I always want it to be secret to me. I think. "NOOOO, not NI! Everyone will have this!" Yes, I' m selfish like that. :D
I love me some NI, and I really wanted to love this but the lack of drag and drop is almost a deal breaker for me. Now y’all know that should’ve been there from jump street. It might be a bit cooler not to release things before they’re komplete, with the promise of we’ll fix/finish that in a future update. 🎹♥️
I would recommand looking at Toontrack's EzDrummer suite. You get good drum sample but most importantly their midi libraries. They are pricey but honestly worth it. You can for instance grab the kick and snare pattern of one midi track in EzDrummer and put it to the battery track. Then do the same for a hihat or toms later based on anoter pattern.
sounds great, and great features....very cool stuff! hopefully some changes that could be implemented down the line are different time signatures and the ability to extract midi so it can be put on a DAW instrument track. easier to work(for me, and others) if you can see the midi in relation to the song form rather than within a separate entity(plug in or other software/apps)
No 🧢.... This might be a top 5 product from native. Me saying this is a lot because i really hate how expensive they are but this is actually worth it.
How did you move the Session Percussionist groove into your DAW track? Somehow I'm not seeing how I can drag it or copy into a PT track. Appreciate any tips.
@@experience_music but what if you want to put that pattern on another track with another plugin? Is that possible? All I see being recorded is me hitting and holding these keys (c1, c2 etc)
NI, I need your help. I bought a licence of session percusionist a week ago. But something is wrong with Native Acces. It says the sofware is installed. But it's no where to be found. It's the first time I encounter this issue with your product. Could someone help please?
Listening to this on my phone speakers across RU-vid sounds terrible but on my studio monitors I'm sure it sounds awesome. About the only thing NI left out was the ability to take a pattern from a different plugin like "Middle East" and drop it into this one and change all the instruments. I was shocked when I went back to look at the sticker price of only $99 US. I was expecting more like $299 US.
Why can't i find any kind of instrument list anywhere? Nothing in the manual. Or are they just the ones featured in the images of the 16 categories, just different versions?
came real close to buying this, but looked at the manual and there's no mention of time signature other than to point out the grid is two bars of 4/4. One could probably use the 8th note pentuplets and effect some 5, crossing the bar etc but this limitation is too hard for me.
The manual have a section about editing the grid. It have the following note, does it help?: "The available step lengths are: triplet 8th note, 16th note (default length), triplet 16th note, 32th note, quintuplet 8th note, and septuplet 8th note."
@@mattiasboden2329 No, because that's independent of time signature lol - personally, idc - most music is in 4/4 but I still find it odd that they don't have that feature...
Any time signature is possible, for example 5/8th, 7/8th, 3/4, 11/16th, anything you could think of: Example 1: 7/8th signature: Use the default 16th grid and move the right locator from its default 32nd (=8*4) step to the 28th (=7*4) step. If you do this for all 25 players' keys, then your whole ensemble will play in the 7/8th signature. Example 2: Let's create a ternary 3/4 signature, each quarter divided by three 8th note triplets: In this case, set the fundamental grid to 8th note triplets and move the right locator from its default 24th (=8*3) step to the 18th (=6*3) step.
The percussion sounds are amazing. I have a number of MIDI files with percussion tracks, is it possible to use Session Percussionist with those tracks? If so, what are the instrument patch numbers?
@@NativeInstruments - I guess my question wasn't understood. I have many other VSTs that work with Kontakt 7 and understand how to use them. I am NOT trying to import MIDI files into Session Percussionists. I was looking on how to assign MIDI notes to have the VST play the percussion. Just like I would select a trumpet sound via MIDI and Kontakt would play the trumpet. No need for any further replies, I have figured it out. Thank you for the reply though.
@@Jim_Thomas_Draper As a matter of fact I do also have the Player version of Kontakt 7 in addition to the full paid version of Kontakt 6. Maybe if I want to buy the newer Native Instruments libraries I could use those in the Player version of Kontakt 7. Thanks.
I bought it and I love it. But i'm using it to score a video and I having the posibility to drag midi to the piano roll in my daw would surely be beneficial. Do you think you can add that feature in an update?
Example: Let's say you want an alternating 7/8 and 3/4 signature. Then for all 25 pattern keys, you set the right locator from position 32 to position 26, because 7/8 + 3/4 = 14/16 + 12/16 = 26/16 = 26 sixteenth notes total pattern length. Then after two bars, the next onset will be in sync again. Then you might also want to select all positions 17 to 32, and then ALT+click the 15th step in the step strip (with the circles) to shift the beginning of the original second bar to the beginning of the new second bar. Now, each bar (7/8 and 3/4) has its original onset note events from the original patterns.
Each pattern is triggered by one single midi note and will run automatically as long as that midi note is held. This midi note needs to be drawn by mouse or recorded via keyboard into your DAW. To change the rhythm / pattern note events, you don't change that single midi note, but directly edit the pattern in the pattern editor.
I have the UVI version . the editing feature here seems a little more advanced however the UVI allows sample import. I think the samples here are loops. The uvi version is not . just samples
@@issiewizzie UVI does seem to have around 18 more instruments though.. It's a bit hard to compare because I do not find a list exactly which instruments this contains, it just says "58 instruments".
Can you drag the patterns as midi notes into your daw? Or would it be more efficient to create the patterns in the plugin, and hold down one midi note to record those patterns?
Dragging and dropping a pattern into your DAW as a MIDI file is not possible, but you can create patterns right in the plugin using its Pattern Editor.
It would be great if it had an electronic drums version and even a way to put your own samples. Maschine its so outdated, same electronic expansions for years.. put more artists to make new expansions and give this way of drum programming to Maschine.
