Waking up to one of your videos is like Christmas morning. Except that you didn’t realize it was Christmas until you opened your RU-vid app. Loving this new no-schedule schedule for videos (for you and for us). 😂❤️
25:18 My new chant, "Files to create, labels to make, things to print and laminate!" I keep chanting this! I just love love love your videos! I have been binge watching your videos (again) while I am crocheting. I hope you have a great school year!
I have been a planner girl since I was in middle school. But have moved to digital planning for a while now. It is so nice not having to carry such a big planner around. I have two planners. One for lesson plans and school stuff. The second I use daily for all my to dos and personal life as well. Thanks for sharing your tips and planning style!
@@kjpauta94 so I have an iPad and I used keynote to make my own digital planners and then shared it to Noteshelf to use for writing on them. You can buy your own but I personally wanted things to be set up a certain way so I did my own. I do all my pacing and planning in the one planner along with notes for anything school related. The second planner I use daily as my to do’s and and just life stuff. So it manages my day to day for school and home.
My goal is to someday use a digital planner. It is so much easier and faster for me to use my paper Happy Planner. Many teachers at my school do digital planners. Michelle is so fast and proficient.
I’ve been on supply for so long and this year I’m finally back in class and I’m so excited that it’s synced up with my favourite teaching RU-vidr going back into class as well! (Also, same grade level!) 🎉
My district/school doesn't use Google Classroom for their LMS-so I utilize it as my teacher/personal planner. I also use it to plan my kid's calendar and church. It works great and I have everything all in one place. No need for different planners.
Hii. I noticed you have TEKs written as that. TEKS is not a plural word. Each letter stands for something. Most people make this mistake. Just wanted to comment on that.
Thank you Michelle, as always an amazing video. I am new to digital planning and thinking of doing it this next school year. I am not quite sure which planner to get. I am leaning towards google docs. I am wondering if I would be able to use it on my iPad. Thank you
Are the sticker labels editable? Can you make a video how you made them? There are a lot of labels that I was hoping that would be included but they are not so need to make some, but want it to match. Things such as Phonics, Online Day, Half Day, Writing, Social Skills, OT, Speech….these are things that aren’t available, but we in kindergarten.
Is there an easy way to change the format to portrait instead of landscape. I really liked that about the old planner, but it wasn't very iPad friendly. OR is the tablet mode already in portrait mode? I've put my plans and things in Google Drive before, but boy, would it be nice for them all to be in one document! Fellow Texas teacher!!!
Unfortunately, that isn’t possible. I’m not sure what you mean by “old planner”, but we offer both the Google Slides and Tablet versions in landscape and portrait orientations so you can choose the format that works best for you. But like a paper planner, you can’t easily switch it from one to another.
@Pockeful of Primary: How do you plan and write out your lesson plans? Can you show us an example? Can you link your lesson plans on the digital planner?
Great content. Keep up the good work. One suggestion for you is when you do a room layout, mark on your layout where all the outlets and switches are in your room. This will make it easier on deciding where your electronic devices well be set up.
Michelle!! I have been following you and watching your videos since you taught 2nd grade, and it just brings me so much joy to see you creating for your own classroom again!! You can feel your passion and excitement through the screen. I’m so incredibly happy for you that you listened to that feeling and decided to go for it. Your future students are SO lucky to have you! Fingers crossed for classroom vlogs 🤞🏻🥰💗
Is anyone else having trouble accessing the freebie checklist? I cant seem to print it or edit on it. When i press the use template it is forever a loading symbol that never stops :(
You inspire me! I know digital planners are the way to go, but after using an actual planbook that I write in for 32 years, I am not sure I can do it! LOL maybe!
Hi Michelle, I learned a new trick today but didn't see you using it in your video so I wanted to make sure you knew it! Keyboard shortcut for duplicating (MAC) items is to select your item(s), hold the option key and just drag it where you want it! It takes away the time/energy/and wear and tear on your C, V, and D keys!
Hi. I need some help downloading and using your digital planner stickers and the planner checklist mentioned in this video. I’ve tried it several times and I’m unable to download them even though I purchased your digital planner when I go to your teaching on the double website and login,it doesn’t seem to recognize me. I have tried it both on my iPad with the Google slides, which I like to use, and on my android but cannot open the freebies. Hope you can help with this! Thank you.
Michelle, I have been considering switching to a digital planner for lesson planning for a long time. I like your system but I have a few questions. How could the lesson plan pages be used by a high school teacher on a block schedule (We have A, B, and C day classes)? I have to share my lesson plans with my admin and the resource teacher weekly. How do I share these plans with them? They only use Microsoft. Thanks in advance.
Yay! Will you be bringing us along for the getting your classroom ready? Also, will you be doing weekly vlogs like you did before? Or will you be just making vlogs here and there?
Hi! I just wanted to clarify real quick because I’m about to buy the teacher planner. This planner is not reusable right? I would have to buy a new one every year?
I am loving this new series Michele!! I am coming off mat leave in the fall and this is getting me excited to go back! It is refreshing to see someone be excited about teaching as it seems like no one on social media is. I love teaching and appreciate your enthusiasm!
Im so excited for you Michelle! I started following you way back when I was just starting school to become an educator and now you’re back in the classroom AND in the same state I teach! I love it!!
Aww, thank you so much! I’ve never been a TA so I can’t speak from personal experience but as you saw, the digital planner is meant to be simple and customizable. You can always wait until the year starts and decide if it’s something you could use!
I LOVE your content! I feel like my brain works just like yours, so it's so helpful to see your thought process. I will be a first year, first grade teacher this year and I am so excited! Trying to pre-plan as much as I can (lol). I also really appreciate that you show us how to make our own labels/decor/slides if we're comfortable doing so. Sometimes I just need a little guidance. Thanks, Michelle!
Great video! I just purchased my digital planner and am setting it up right along with you. I need to make some custom stickers, and the guide included with the header stickers tells the size and colors, but I don't see where it tells the font and font size. Help!
Today is my first day of summer vacation. It always amazes me how early everyone else starts. I love watching your planning videos and these always make me want to do digital planning. Can I just say how shocking it is to me just how much PD you have before the first day of school? We go back one day before kids start school, have a welcome assembly with admin and get the rest of the day to set up. That’s it for us for the year! I can’t wait to see your upcoming vlogs! Enjoy what you have left of summer.
Loved this video, Michelle! I am a first year teacher, reading first class teaching and was wondering if you could include some tidbits about setting up a class for the first time in the planning video? I have the amazing checklist from the fb group, but I think seeing it planned out will be super helpful! Thanks ❤
So cool and smart on how you are planning! You will be a step ahead when the real work starts! A classroom planning vlog would be cool for insight! I’ve been preparing to assist in the design of my friend’s first classroom (teaching 1st grade and she has your book). One question I have been going back and forth on is do you organize desks first in your room or do you leave that for the end?
Please show the digital classroom map how-to! I'd love to see a seating chart with movable boxes for different students because i keep having to re-create each quarter when I plan my seating chart and have been racking my brain about how to do it. I'd love it so I can easily move students and then link it in my sub plans so I can just print and go! Thank you!
Not sure if your district does this, but the school year calendar has already been up on my district's website since May. I think my old district in TX does this as well.
Happy Happy, Wednesday, Michelle! I absolutely adore this series of videos as you prepare for your new job. You have motivated me to get my ideas oerganized and ready for the upcoming year. Best wishes to you on your next goal. I can't wait to see your clasroom planning video! 💜
Thank you for your inspiring ideas - your digital planner is so detailed! I would like to know for your next vlog on your classroom set-up, when you decide on the seating plan for your students, please share what considerations you take when you decide who should sit with who.
Hi Michelle, Thanks for yet another amazing video! Will you be doing a video like this - I would like to use this planner on my ipad but not sure how to add all those things you were showing?
I was today years old when I learned you co-host Teaching to the Top! I found the podcast a couple of weeks ago and loved the few episodes I listened to. I just can’t believe I never made the connection 😂
Four blocks on which page? If you’re referring to the weekly planning pages, there are 5 columns (one for each day of the week from Monday through Friday) and the two blank boxes are customizable. Some teachers use them for the weekends and others use them for to-do lists and reminders but the options are endless!
Hi Quick Question, what kind of laptops does your district use? When I was a high school student my school district gave out MacBooks to teachers due to the programs so I wanted to know when will you know that. Cause I’m a tech nerd and I’m interested in tech related to teachers.
Best way to wake up! I loved this as I am really wanting to move into digital planning! I am struggling though now on deciding if I want the landscape or portfolio style planner and now if I want the iPad or Computer one 😅😅😅😅
Hahaha? So many decisions! Personally, I’ve always been team landscape but I know Bridget likes the portrait version for her tablet because that’s how she holds it. It all depends on your personal preferences!

If only you saw how low the background music volume is in comparison… it’s almost impossible to lower it any more 😂 But different devices can make it seem louder than it is and unfortunately there’s no one perfect level for everyone.
