Setting up the workshop: installing LED lighting + electricity, installing workshop equipment, air and more in this video.
A few things have happened in the new garage since the last video. Firstly, the poured concrete floor (see previous video) is fitted with expansion joints, which have been sealed. The edges of the floor are also sealed.
A built-in toilet cistern has been installed, which was then finished with building board and the walls in the toilet room have been plastered for tiling later.
An electric, custom garage door has also been installed. A sectional door has been chosen which follows the roof line.
The hanging of the toilet door is also done.
The Combi boiler has also been installed and various water pipes have been connected. Copper pipe was used for this, but also Uponor multilayer pipe.
For more storage space in the garage I have placed a storage rack in the attic. As a result, I have obtained 35% more storage space compared to the attic floor.
A small electric hoist and trolley has been installed.
For the lighting of the workshop I opted for LED fluorescent lighting in closed fixtures. When an LED tube becomes defective, it can be easily replaced without having to replace the fixture.
A kind of lighting plan was first made, the starting point being to have sufficient light everywhere in the garage, with a fine light colour. According to the lighting plan, there is 500 lux/lumen or more everywhere in the workshop. I have not measured this, but it is illuminated.
Electricity has also been installed, the first thing I looked at was how much and where I would like the mains and power sockets. It turned out that about 300 meters of installation cable was needed. This is placed in a steel cable duct. This also makes it easy to expand the installation if necessary. Junction boxes are also easy to attach to the cable duct, so that you do not have to drill holes all over the wall.
For air, an automatic hose reel is mounted with a hose to the compressor. An automatic cable reel is placed underneath, so that an extension cable is always within reach.
The compressor is in the attic and can be turned on and off downstairs. In the switch for this is a control lamp which lights up when the compressor pressure is lower than the switch-on value.
I also installed modular workshop storage cabinets. This all consists of separate mudules / cabinets, which can be combined in different ways. I have placed various tool chests and wall cabinets in a corner arrangement. I did not use the special rear walls that you can also buy for this, but placed all modular workshop equipment cabinets almost against the wall. There is still room left for the power cable to pass through the back.
I bought the different cabinets from different suppliers. What one did not have in stock, the other could deliver. They are the same cabinets, same color scheme, just a different sticker on it.
