After watching this video, I wanted to share a trick my awesome husband figured out. We just finished installing drip to our containers and of course I already had them potted up, so we had to run the 1/4" tubing on the outside of the pots this year. In order to keep that tubing in place, he used binder clips (the black ones typically found in an office) to hold the tubing in place. He ran the tubing through the silver part of the clip, then just clipped it to the side of the container- genius!!!💖💖💖 He used the mini size, but they have any size you need for your containers. It has been fabulous!!

My husband says I can’t have a drip system like Laura until I start making money from my gardening like Laura. 😕😁 It’s all in good fun, while I’m working in the garden he’ll also ask “ is that how Laura does it”? Or he’ll call me on his way to work and say “I’m not interrupting your Laura time am I ?” Just this weekend we planted a huge area of about 14 varieties of squash and pumpkins and when we were finished he said “Is Laura planting pumpkins? Is that why we are doing this?” 😂 Thanks so much for all your wonderful informative videos and for giving my husband something to tease me about. 💗

I've learned so much from y'all about drip, my husband and I installed it everywhere a few years ago from watching your channel. This year I pulled it all out and put it in a grid pattern like Paul did and the pressure is so much better and you're right we evolve and just keep improving. Whenever I put 1/2 inch black tubing in a walkaway I run it through PVC pipe to protect it from puncturing.

@Angel Of Domestic Bliss hello 🤗🌱 CorrectI was growing in pots last year and I was watering really inconsistently, which I read leads to a plants inability to pull up calcium from the soil. @mukthatumkur3324
@mukthatumkur3324 3 года назад
@anand bagmar That's right, you have to put the teflon tape in a clockwise direction when you hold the pipe in front of you. This way, when you put your fitting on which is also in the clockwise direction, you won't bunch up the tape. If you put the tape on in a counterclockwise direction, when you put a fitting on, it will bunch up because you are essentially moving the fitting against the direction that the tape is lying. There are several YT videos on this....

Good video. Drip irrigation is easy, relatively inexpensive, and efficient. It’s also very forgiving - there are no mistakes that can not be easily remedied. 😅 I just set up a similar system for the 12 planters along our back patio tapping off of a hose spigot with a splitter with a Bluetooth controlled timer, and a similar setup with the backflow preventer, pressure regulator, and filter. Works like a charm. My wife is happy and now my daughter wants a similar setup at her house!

I think drip irrigation is something that you won’t fully understand until you actually start setting it up. Once you begin it all makes sense and is really quite easy. I refresh my mind each year because it’s not something I do everyday and there are a lot of parts to it.
@larag4646
@larag4646 3 года назад
That whole first part seems overwhelming until you start putting it together. Her's is more complicated than mine is with having to get all the adapters for the different threads. You go to Lowes or something and you can find everything that uses hose thread only. Just remember it starts with a timer, backflow valve, filter, and a pressure regulator. Grab those and put it in your cart. You'll need a way to cut the hose and a way to punch a hole in the hose. They sell specific tools for that. Grab those and put them in your cart. From there it's really customized to what you want/need. The fittings are for connecting the hoses to route your system. You can get "emitter hose" like she has (the brown hose) which makes it really simple, or there's lots of drip end fittings you can put on. And then there are kits that will give you an entire set up. I think you may still need to get the cutting and punch tools.

I was the same way when they explained it in other videos. At that time, they recommended buying a starter kit. I did for maybe $25, found it pretty easy to set up, and have been maintaining it ever since. Now I’ve added different tubing, expanded my drip system and even set up a system at my parents house. I’ve never regretted doing this. It’s a real game changer.

I feel like I can have full confidence in putting my front beds on drip! Thank you so much GA! My hydrangeas especially thank you!

All I can say is, your parents must be so proud to see how self sufficient and resourceful you both are with each task at hand and how articulate you are in explaining something so complex like this. It’s a skill you’ve mastered from experience. I know this is a 2year old video so you’ve grown so much more then to now. Do you ever go back and watch your first videos to see the confidence building in all you’ve achieved? Thx Laura & Aaron for sharing.

Dear Aaron & Laura, thank you so much for continuing to share your God given gift with us. You have empowered us to create a veggie garden and now a flower garden and flowering pots around our home. Our home is so welcoming and provides a sanctuary we didn’t know we needed. Would you believe our boys and I just pulled two types of garlic from our raised bed! We are looking forward to sharing them with friends. Irrigation is now on our list and thanks to you we know we will have no problem tackling this task. You have removed the fear we had. From the bottom of our hearts thank you.

This is VERY helpful! I had watched all videos with your irrigation system, and boy, I watched them many times. I thought I was ready!!! LOL. I visited the hardware store multiple times and stood in front of the same isle for hours. At home, once I had finished connecting all pieces for my small irrigation system, I turned the faucet on and wow it was leaking at every single connection. It took a couple of days to realize that I needed to use the thread seal tape. Lots of 💦 but so worth it.

These videos take me back. When I was a teenager I used to help install irrigation lines on my dad's farm/ranch. My main job was to punch holes in the tubing and insert spray emitters at the base of each tree. He grew avocados on several thousand acres of land.

Hi Laura and Aaron. Finally, a video about setting up drip irrigation in containers from start to finish, showing us all of the parts needed and demonstrating how it's done. WOW! So much involved! You answered all of the questions I had wondered about. It's great getting all this information from one source, rather than having to search here and there to "put it all together." Thank you so much! Love your videos; look forward to seeing what you've posted every day.

Just went to Home Depot yesterday and bought a bunch of stuff to set up a drip system for my 50 or so containers in my back yard. I have been hand watering these everyday for the last couple of years and never thought about a system like this. New to gardening & just didn’t know much about drip systems. Glad I found your channel & your video because maybe my plants will survive better this summer.

Remember when you did your presentation all about drip irrigation at the Northwest Flower and Garden show in Seattle? Then you confessed that you felt so silly because of how wet our area is.. I was there and I thought it was great! I ran drip this year and the only reason I knew how to do it was all because of you! Thank you for everything. 😊 (I regret not standing in line for a meet and greet 😞)

I did the drip irrigation system like this along our side yard flower bed. I watched another video of yours where you explained all of this while in the store to make sure I had everything I needed, lol. Having fibromyalgia, an autoimmune disease, and other health problems I know I could never do all that you do, but I am doing more than I have before and it’s all thanks to you. You are an inspiration! ❣️
