I built something similar. For placing the poles I used a couple of caps of PET bottles in which I drilled holes for the strings that I used.

Wow. 100% brilliant! I don’t have access to a 3D printer or laser cutter, so I just created my own “tent pole holder things” using some old plastic and a drill. Instead of the webbing straps, I used some thin nylon string. It doesn’t look as fancy or professionally polished as your setup, but seems to work... at least in my backyard in the sunshine. Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic idea.

Thank you for this great tip. I have used some janky ways to try to keep my tent dry while setting up in the rain but this is by far the simplest and most effective. I watched your video on how to make one yourself and quickly made one using old para-cord and washers for my Nemo Hornet 2P. Works like a charm. Thanks again

That is fantastic! The first one I made was using some string and washers too but then it got tangled up really easily so I experimented till I had this system.

Looks great. Gotta create the straps to hold my tent's poles. Watched another video where the tent, fly, and groundsheet are packed together, and you lay it out, and slide the poles under the fly, and then stand the poles up. I will definitely try this too if I can create the straps to hold the pole. Don't know which method I'll go with. Thanks for the video
@kaeytee
@kaeytee 3 года назад
The idea with the strap is great! But why did you make the strap go around the whole extent of the tent? According to my calculations that makes about 5.8m of strap for a single person Hubba. If you make a cross of two diagonals connected to each other in the middle of the tent you can save about 1.25m of strap. And I doubt that one would feel the little bump this might produce.

@@TheZakkmylde in the UK, spring washers are thicker, have a cut in them and are slightly twisted to form the spring. If you press out the twist, you get a flat washer but its thicker than a normal washer.

Great idea , but with that particular tent, isn`t it posssible to , lay the poles on the ground , then spread the rainfly over , and then conect the poles to the rainfly grommets ?? That way you have the rain fly up and then from the inside attach the footprint and so on . I don`t own a tent like that to try it myself , but seems to be doable . Is it ?
@ProjectOutbound
@ProjectOutbound 3 года назад
Good question, let me see if that works.
@Chrizatch
@Chrizatch 2 года назад
Yes, it is possible. I have this tent and once you complete the poles with the rainfly it can "pop up" and allow you to set up the tent underneath. I think these straps add a level of convenience though to get the structure up first then a bit easier to work with the rainfly
