I like to add the Behringer PM1 to this set up because then the audio is dual mono and the op will have control over his volume with a knob. Works awesome.
@0815Berliner
@0815Berliner 2 года назад
Hi, thats interesting. On the product page of the PM1 it seemed like you had to get a xlr stereo signal (Pin 1: GND, 2: L, 3: R) to XLR Input to be able to have signal on both R/L. So how does it actually work with the Sennheisers that could only put out mono?

Try using the Sennheiser G3IEM for your boom op, has a knob to adjust volume.

Use your main outs that way it's easier to adjust the output level rather than changing the settings on both the rec and tx.

i'm using a rodelink with a m-audio bass traveler sticked on the RX for volume control :)
@RLFOSOUND

+Konfus interesting So does that give you sound on both ears ? Left and right when you use it with the rodelink ? Or is just for volume control ?
@flunkspagnargel
@flunkspagnargel 6 лет назад
just for volume control / boost.

you can make DIY cable, that you connect between g3 reciever and headphones. just connect male 3,5mm jack tip with tip and ring female jack.

Hey, I have been watching your channel for the past 6 months. I really like it. I have a 633, but I am not sure how to connect wireless AVX (senheizer) into it. each time I trie, I am not getting good level. Can you give me some insight into why this is happening?
@tonyhoneybun5111

I do the same, except I use the Sony URX P2 . They have a dedicated headphone output and the volume can be adjusted by the op.

Is it possible to have multiple IFBs connected out of the X1/X2 connection so that Boom Op, Script sup, and director all get their own IFB?
@philpike6177
@philpike6177 Год назад
if you want them to receive the same mix, then you only need one transmitter, but I'd recommend the boom op gets either just their own boom (or both booms if twin booming) and the production staff get a feed of the mix that you're creating, which would mean two separate transmitters on different frequencies, connected to two separate outputs.

Is this same setup possible on the Mix Pre 6 via the stereo out instead? Super useful thanks!
@alisaljic
@alisaljic 6 лет назад
Yes it is. You get yourself a 3.5mm stereo to split Right n Left to two mono female xlr cables. Configure it properly in the outputs menu and than you can have R ch sent only to your boom op, and L ch sent to the director with a full mix or however he/she wants it. As additional option, since mixpre6 does not have an internal mic, when you have xlr inputs to spare you can plug one lav directly into one of the spare channels (if you have a wired lav xlr adapter of course) and assign it to your boom op output in the outputs menu to turn it into a comm. Just make sure you disarm that channel so it does not record unnecessarily, and preferably use the advanced mode so you can mute your comm with the pot when it needs to be muted.

question: wouldn't it be better to send the boom as a prefade rather than post? my rationale would be because the ISO is usually recorded at a lower level for safety and won't be constantly changing with the fader. and if you were sending postfade and if the fader is set too high, then it would be too high for the boom op like you mentioned. what do you think about this reasoning?
@RLFOSOUND
@RLFOSOUND 6 лет назад
+mattstartsomething I used to do it this way, but if I do that lets say I turn my fader all the way Down, my boom will try and communicate with me because he can hear the mic but I won’t be able to hear him, so if I do post he hears what I hear so if I turn my knob down he knows I’m away or not wearing my headphones I don’t know if that makes sense :)

Can I do this with G3's on my Zoom F8? I tried with the sub-out output and it didn't work :(

+Fabrizio Ferri there is !!! someone link me a product that does that !! www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/252354-REG You would need to use your trs to trs that came in your kit

No you can not make true stereo signal on g3. You can only make them pass dual mono signal. Ew300 and ew500 can do stereo
@RLFOSOUND

Correct, not real stereo just dual Mono my bad !!

Hello if I use pre 6 that just have one output but I need to give one to camera,give one to boom man ,give one to director how can do ?just use one transmitter in output and 3 receiver use same channel with transmitter?
@RLFOSOUND
@RLFOSOUND Год назад
If you only have one tx that means that all the 3 receivers will get the same Feed coming out of the mix pre, you can easily do that
@dingdong5601
@dingdong5601 7 месяцев назад
You can pan the outputs on the mixpre6 menu where the left channel is the full mix and the right channel is just the boom. Then get a 3.5mm Left/Right splitter cable and plug into the stereo output of the mixpre. Send the left channel to camera and director, send the right channel to boom op so they only hear the boom.

Has anyone tried this same set up but with the Sony UWP D11? I own 4 of these. I followed Rodolfo’s video with my Sony’s but I get a weird distorted hissing sound. Is there a particular additional step I must do for the Sony’s? Any advise would be grateful. I’m student filmmaker btw so not too versed with sound engineering and always ready to learn.

Hi David. It has been long time I hope you are well. Did you find any solution about it or any info? I am also a student filmmaker and planning to do the same setup. Using Sony UWP D11 to send a camera hook or use it as boom operator feed. Can you share your experiences?

Hi rodolfo, I can't hear anything when plugging in earbuds. I have to switch my tascam Dr 10 in between the receiver and earbuds. How do you make it work to receive an audible signal on your earbuds directly plugged in to your g3?
@alisaljic
@alisaljic 6 лет назад
Depending on the earbuds. You can, as an alternative, run the signal from g3 through one of those small recorders, like H1, and use it as a headphone amp if all else fails. Besides, H1 is a great tool to have, due to its small size and light weight, you can hide it anywhere. It saved me numerous times.
@RLFOSOUND
@RLFOSOUND 6 лет назад
Try sending a constant tone or signal then play with the levels on the RX first then the TX also make sure they are in the same channel, what was your set up like tell me your signal flow
@brucehazelton4393
@brucehazelton4393 3 года назад
Firstly, it amuses me how low the audio is on this video. Secondly, the output from the receiver isn't really up to driving a pair of headphones - an IEM receiver would be a better option. Or build your own audio amp to boost the level - that's what I did :-)
