Setting up Active Directory in Windows Server 2019 (Step By Step Guide)

The DNS settings between 9:40 and 11:08 are absolutely gold. I haven’t been able to find this info even from Microsoft’s documentation. I wish I understood ‘Why’ this was necessary. The ‘How’ fixed the problem tho for sure 🙂

Great Vid!, and if all you want to do is use the Active Directory Users and Computers and manage an OU that already exists, you can just follow the initial step to add the role and not be a controoler. then log onto the machine as a domain user, and have at it. Or login as Admin, but then "run as" a domain user for the tool. (my google search for this brought me here, so i just through i'd note it)

How to enable email notifications as to trigger alerts automatically when the folder exceeds the limit?

If your default server after NSLOOKUP is showing >Nslookup Default Server: Local Address::1 Switch iPv6 to obtain DNS automatically, then hit okay/apply. This should fix the issue :)

ok when i changed promoted to domain server, and logged in, i tried to change the network parameters but is says : windows can not access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them. but i am logged in as admin ?

i follow you video step by step and it worked beautifully. But the user clients in windows 10 are loosing the network mapped drive, also when i change the password for them, it wont take from their end, they can only log in with the previous password. any ideas>? ... PS.. my router is the DHCP server is that ok?

Hey I'm trying to set up a domain controller active directory using an EC2 instance. The problem comes in when setting up my static IP to my private IP so it doesn't promote the server as a domain controller please help

You also have to setup DNS forwarder to upstream DNS servers such as 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1, so your DC can resolve external fqdn if it doesn't find the record from its own DNS record. 😀
