Hi lads and lasses,
This is me and Davy setting up a good friends (from the Hunting Life Forum) sub 12 foot pound air rifle and calibrating his MAP 6A reticuled scope for him the way I have found to be the best way of calibrating a rifle and scope prior to doing some field testing with it and taking it out onto one of our permissions to shoot vermin.
Please note that all the shots taken at longer ranges on live vermin were only done so after lots of practice and by a very skilled air rifle shot.
Under no circumstances is it advised to try and copy these shots at these ranges unless you are sure you are going to make a humane kill.

I could watch you guys all day long. I especially enjoy your tutorials on calibration, pellets and tuning. The vermin shooting is great, too. Pls never stop :)

Malc, they were not there to have a good time, they were there to set my gun up. These are two of the kindest men it is my privilege to know and for them to call me "FRIEND" has blown me away. Because of lack of mobility stops me from kneeling let alone laying down. The hard part would be getting me back up lol JCB's at the ready. More like it Huge THANK YOU to both of them. Well done lads…and thank you….at 53,just getting back into shooting with a air rifle,over twenty odd years break lol..so I’ve just brought a AA s410f super lite…and your vid has really given me food for thought…that it certainly pays to experiment different brand of pellets…Diabolo field AA,what came with the gun,may not be the best…just trying to secure some land…then I’ll be able to see what’s best(haven’t got the range,where I live)….really nice shooting on them woodys 😬👍🏻🤘🏻

Aye Si ' n' Dave. I can't believe your shooting I'd have to see it live with my own eyes using my own gun AA S510. I watch most of your vids if not all of em the shooting is spot on.

i didnt realise u had to clean the barrel after each brand of pellet,ive juts purchased a daystate huntsman classic i was testing different pellets and got some good groups to start with then they went a bit funny! after watching your video ive cleaned the barrel and its spot on now! so thx for the vid and keep up the good work lads

great vid chaps . i have a air arms s410 classic myself and it is a great gun to shoot i have found that acupels work best in my gun , anyho some great shots there from davy wel done chaps .

Some tips for zeroing: Do not use a bipod (sandbags in front and rear much better), and if so, make sure it is set up for the correct height. Your body should be totally relaxed, and not in a "cobra" position trying to get a sight picture (look up natural point of aim). Insides of feet should be flat on the ground, etc. Shoot more than one group with each type of pellets. Three 5 shot groups would be minimum. Shoot indoors (not always possible I know). I can hear the wind howling in your video, not conducive to the best accuracy.

tasmedic everything I said applies. It's basic marksmanship. NPA is widely known as crucial to accuracy when shooting prone position. Recoil has nothing to do with it. I compete in benchrest competition with air rifle, and was a sponsored 3 gun competitor. Fundamentals of accuracy are universal.

I would like to use the Hawke software as I have a Tac30 but it is not yet available for Mac operating systems... :-( I have been advised that it will be available soon as currently being tested... :-) ATB! David.

Tried S400F and found that it shot about 1" low at 25 m with silencer on. Is that normal?

11.8 ft is a bit close to the legal limit 😯 that will possibly be fac with heavier pellet.. and as for the test why are you hold the fore stock ? you are using a pod so other hand should be making a fist and be under the butt of gun for support..

Hi si, would you say you have to clean the barrel every time when changing pellet brand, I have a Hatsan at44-10 .177, someone off a forum says not to clean the barrel at all, the more led the better what would you make of this? Any help would be great, thanks

elvis oorloff: in general use you would not clean the barrel of an air gun UNLESS you started to have issues with accuracy, it will then take a few shots ( depending on pellet used / soft/ hard, clean / dusty ) to get some led back in the barrel and groups to tighten back up, if you change pellets as the boys are doing here without cleaning the barrel it will take maybe 5 shots per pellet brand ( maybe more sometimes less ) to get the led in the barrel to match the pellet and get a good group. by cleaning the barrel you are giving all the pellets an even chance, if a pellet groups well with a freshly cleaned barrel then chances are the group will only get tighter as the barrel led's up.
