What about setting up a Waldorf workspace for several children of different ages in a single room?
@SimplyWaldorf
@SimplyWaldorf Год назад
This is a really interesting question, because it highlights the advantages and challenges that come with multiple ages in the same classroom. Setting up the desks for each individual student would take the same considerations in mind that I presented for a single student. However, if you’re looking to share some thing such as a window or a light source, then that might require some movement. It’s a very difficult thing for me to address specifically. That is because each room and every child is unique. I hope that some of the principles I have presented will be of some used to you.

Beautiful paper for righting idea. And all supplies. How about watercolors? And clay? Anything you use to work with clay on? I'm new in it. Do you use any colored paper, sissorsz glue?

Hi Tatyana. We are currently creating watercolor courses. So a full description will come out with the release of those courses. In brief, I can say that I prefer using the Stockmar watercolors. We use a plastic board for watercolor painting. The paper is soaked before hand and then it lies on the board. This same plastic board is good for clay work as well. In time we will have clay, plasticine, and beeswax modeling courses. Colored paper can be used, certainly. However I do not use it very often in the early grades. I don’t do much with glue either. As for scissors I just use fairly common children’s scissors. I know that some of my answers are very general, it will become more specific and obvious as we create more and more courses. Thank you for your interest in Simply Waldorf. I hope as we grow you find more and more that will help you achieve your goals.

Do you recommend the 14 x17 size for the kids as well or just for us the teacher for teaching the lesson?

I use the 14 x 17 for the students as well. It's important to have space, especially for the little ones.

And how about ink and fountain pen? My child really love calligraphy letters.

Calligraphy is a great practice to present to children. I have never taught it to children below sixth grade. When I present calligraphy I teach them how to make their own very simple stylus. And we use that to create various calligraphy fonts. It goes well with the study in sixth grade of medieval history. You could bring it to younger children of course. I would be hesitant to present it to a child before they are proficient with cursive writing. As soon as they are comfortable with cursive writing, they could take up calligraphy without causing any confusion. Of course that will be different timing for different children. This is another course that we will be creating at Simply Waldorf. Again, thanks for your interest. If you haven’t already done so, sign up for our newsletter. That is the best way to find out when new courses are coming out for customers.

Do you have recommendations from where can we get a quality chalkboard?
@SimplyWaldorf
@SimplyWaldorf 2 года назад
Tough one. And a good question. Chalkboard standard, in my opinion, is a true slate board. Heavy material and usually expensive. Due to these two factors, they almost always have to be sourced locally. After that you can find synthetically-created chalkboards online. In my opinion the lowest quality option is the chalkboard paint. That being said, chalkboard paint can work, especially for those who cannot find or afford other options. But since you ask about a quality chalkboard, I have offered them in order of my preference. It’s probably arguable, according to who you ask.

Do you know the measurements of the desk?
@SimplyWaldorf
@SimplyWaldorf Год назад
The desk I use is approximately 4’wide x 2’ (48” x 24”). For a child, I would recommend something at least 32” wide x 24”.
