As this FS Fiber Modules do you use the Generic ones or the HP Pro Curve one?

FS will customize the modules to work with your switch. I used this one: J4858C HPE ProCurve Compatible 1000BASE-SX SFP 850nm 550m DOM Duplex LC MMF Transceiver Module for HPE Aruba and FlexFabric Switch Series #32140 www.fs.com/products/32140.html

7:20 you say that it isnt immediately obvious that the power supplies were the root of your issue. I beg to differ. You started the video talking about it throwing error codes because you didnt have both power supplies plugged in. That was more than likely it TRYING to make it immediately obvious, but you seemed to quickly dismiss it as simply being a status warning type error. Meanwhile it was an actual error with legit functionality consequences. That being said i totally understand how you would overlook that for a while.

Hi! The reason I initially ignored the warning is because I’m used to seeing warnings on servers and other equipment with two power supplies when one power supply is unplugged and it is just warning you that there is no redundancy, but you still have full functionality. In this case it caused loss of functionality. I had never seen that before. I assumed the multiple power supplies in this switch were for redundancy and to provide extra power to all the PoE modules. Since I wasn’t using any PoE at the time, I thought it would behave like a server and warn me about loss of redundancy and retain full functionality on one power supply. Apparently not, and now I know to look for that and not assume equipment should work on only one power supply when it has multiple installed. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching the video!

@@G6TechnologyServices yeah like i said i totally see how you would end up skipping over that. One other part of that is i think they have both 750w and 1500w power supplies for those - so it may be happier with 1x 1500w than 1x750w? But just a guess at this point.
