Important for Mac owners. Recent Mac operating systems already have an Apple driver for the LightBurn, and that installing the OEM version causes unnecessary conflicts. Might be helpful to update the video.
everything worked for me up to the fire button that never showed up and the move button is not there either. I have cut/layer, console. camera control and, variable text.
If the Move window is not visible you will need to enable it. This can be done by clicking on the Window dropdown in the top toolbar and clicking "Move". If it is already checked and not visible it was likely undocked and you can select "Reset to Default Layout" at the top of that same Window dropdown menu to restore it.
Is the driver mentioned in the Mac install portion a must? I have been using LightBurn with my Comgrow Z1 successfully w/o the driver. Only problem is that when I initially (and even after a couple of weeks) my laser doesn't show up in the devices panel.

Downloaded lightburn today and tried to connect my Sculpfun s9 and the software couldn't find it. I tried manually but my equipment wasn't listed in Lightburn. What gives? tell me how you did it please.

Lightburn did not find my Sculpfun S9, I have the driver installed, and if I manually setup Grbl device it is working but engraving wrong moving in sig-zag when should cut a circle the image look almost like a gear.. With Laser Grbl it is working fine. What is wrong in Lightburn?

I just got the sculpfun 6 pro, I have no idea at all on how I can use this machine, are this instructions the same for the 6 pro as well or do I have to do something different to start using it! We haven't tested the 6 pro specifically but looking around it looks like it should be compatible. The most common driver used is that same CH340 so I would follow along with the guide and see if that works for you. a few months ago I bought a Sculpfun S9 through an online shop in Indonesia, the first time I installed it, it worked well, I haven't used it for a long time, I tried to use it again, but the machine didn't work according to the design I had, then I tried to uninstall the application, then when I tried to reinstall the application, sculpfun was not detected in the lightburn app, please help, thank you

Seems product is awesome... But on Ubuntu lightburn don't show bottom navigation bar ... Tried in many Linux version ... Same issue... How can fix it before thinking to buy it
@Lightburn - I'm using a Mac OS Monterrey version 12.3.1. I tried the install 3x and also followed the terminal instructions for any potential conflicts with existing drivers and nothing is working. I have the Sculpfun S9 that I just got today. I also tried going into safe mode/recovery mode and nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions?

@@aldohernandez2119 I was able to set up a manual setting using GRBL. It took me installing and reinstalling both the driver and the software multiple times before I got it to work. I could never get it to auto detect but the manual set up finally worked.
Please tell me….Do you find it “Slams” against the side bars without Limit Switches..?? Are there any “Switches” that are compatible with this machine before I think of purchasing it..?? LightBurn is just not seeing my Sculpfun S9 laser. I manually installed it and when I check on my Device manager I dont find it anywhere. In my COMS & LPT I only see the Serial CH340....PLEASE assist..
I like this video thanks. But I’m have trouble with my Pergear LaserStorm S5 . Trying to connect it to LightBurn. I clicked. Find my Laser but it can’t see it. The power is on the fan is running. The screen is on but blank is that supposed to be like that? I tried it multiple times and still light burn cannot find my laser. Do I need to put the TF CARD IN ? Please help me! ! 😫

@LightBurn Software I recently got my first laser engraver / cutter (Comgrow Z1) and I will be using Lightburn. And will mostly be using it to cut balsa R/C airplane kits from PDF plans and I was wondering if you could do e tutorial on using / converting PDF files, resizing and doing tab splices for parts that are too big?
Hope I get an answer here.... Everything works except my laser doesnt fire. I have been using this laser for about 4 months. I came out..turned it on...everything works and cycles...but no laser! The fan light comes on....but the laser firing light on the module never comes on and no laser.....
If it is not firing I would check your wiring to make sure none of the cables in the connectors are damaged or gave come unplugged. If you have tried increasing the power and still are not getting output I would lean toward it being hardware related.
Thank you a lot for the video. I have a question about the speed you selecting 5000 and respect. 2000 this is mm/s. What is the top speed of the sculpfun. I don't see how this thing can do 5 meter/sec. I think the max of this machine is like 300mm/s
If you are getting lines instead of shapes it could be a handful of things: - wire being loose for a motor - speeds to quick causing motors to skip steps - a pulley on a motor being loose - a belt being loose Is your preview window showing the text you are expecting? 26:18 There is no "Move" tab on mine! Only Cut/Layers, Console, Camera Control, Variable Text. If you are seeing camera control and variable text that means the original layout has been edited. You can easily fix this my clicking "Reset to default layout" under the "Windows" menu or enabling the "Move" window from the "Windows" menu. Good day hope thanks for the video i followed it step by step,i just have one problem,everything fires up and works like it should but no engraving or cutting is happening, its a brand new Sculpfun s10,the lazer comes on and if i hit start it starts to move over where it should do the project but it is not engraving, do you have any advise for me please.

@lightburnsoftware7189 Thanks for the feedback, i did space the lazer on top of the material with the spacer supplied yes,i tried to do the material test but with different values and power output there was no change, the lazer starts with the test and i can see the fiscal blue light on the work piece but no engraving i will have a look at that link you sent me in the morning and get back to you.
Hello, When I press and hold shift key + frame , just head is moving as frame size but without light, please how can I resolve it, and is the laser 5.5W can cut acrylic as 6mm ?
Did you enable the laser fire button? The value set in the fire button is what will be used when framing so you may need to bump it ever so slightly to find the minimum required power that you are able to see. 5.5W is great for engraving but may struggle with cutting. Diode lasers will not cut clear acrylic so if you are wanting to cut you will want an opaque acrylic. Black is the easiest to cut with a diode.
The video was nicely done. I watched it all the way through, and then downloaded Lightburn and the CH340 driver. However, I got an error trying to load the driver. It failed and I can't figure out what the problem is. I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows 10. I was able to load Lightburn, but of course it will not find my Sculpfun S9 because of the driver. Any thoughts on what I should check? Thx.
What is the error that you are getting when trying to install the driver? First, my Firewall quarantined the driver download, and once I figure out how to allow it, I tried the install and just got a window with the error "Install Failed". I restarted my computer, hooked up the laser and turned it on, went through "find my device" and it found it. I'm not sure how it worked, but it did. I followed your video again and was able to make my first project with text and an outline. I couldn't have done it without your step by step video. Many Thanks!

Thank you for the tutorial. However I am having problems with the absolute coords. I have discovered that when you first start LightBurn it does not set itself to x = 0 and Y = 0, but rather X = -56.7 and Y = -54.88. So if with the sculpfun turned off I move the head to bottom left and then turn it on LightBurn thinks that 0,0 is actually X:56.7, Y:54.88 up from the bottom left of the corner of the Sculpfun and therefore throwing everything out by this distance. Hope there is an easy solution for this.

@@ashleybrewer3326 Hey Ashley. Its under the “Console” Tab. There are some buttons labeled “Macro1”, “Macro2” etc. Right mouse click on one of these buttons and you can set it up with the commands and a name. Have to say I still found it a pain even after this as it would randomly forget the 0,0 position after doing a “Frame” etc. So I tend to stick to using “Current Position” most of the time.
Some of the verbiage doesnt make a whole lot of sense with the driver installer. If you are able to connect to the laser then you already have the driver. Through the installer you can also uninstall and reinstall the driver to see if that works.
Hi, do i use the same driver for the sculpfun s10? my LB with the ch340 does not recognize the s10. I installed the driver after having already used LB by manually adding the s10, now I have seen that it needs a driver, and after installing and restarting it, it automatically does not recognize any laser. however i add manual and works but im not sure if the setting is correct. Another question is how can I enlarge the line size when drawing in *Draw line mode?
Yes, it should be the same CH340 driver for the various SCULPFUN lasers. Is it to see easier on the computer or so that it engraves a wider line?

Hi, I just bought an S9 and strangely the work place in LightBurn seems to be mirrored when the laser works. So if I want text "TEST" to be correct and readable I have to mirror it in the LightBurn so when the laser does it's job it comes correct. Is there any option for "mirrored mode" or something? Thanks
Cutting ability will depend on the specific laser and the material. Diode lasers have a pretty broad range of power from 5W up to 40W with combined beams. If there is a specific laser you are looking at the manufacturer likely has some recommended values or specs.
I have just brought a brand new Sculpfun S9 and have assembled it. When I am using it I'm finding that the laser head assembly is very loose on the rail and is wobbling as it is moving along. This is creating uneven and squiggly lines. It looks like the bottom guide wheel is too low but there isn't any way to adjust this wheel up. Can anyone help with any suggestions please
I just took a look at the one here and there is an eccentric nut on the back of the carriage which will allow you to bring the vslot wheel closer/further away from the rail. It is typically used on roller wheels to help create the needed stiffness for the motion. It is on the bottom of both side of the Y axis as well as on the bottom of where the x axis motor is. Did you install the ch340 driver? Do you have any other program open that may be connecting to the device? Make sure it’s powered on, try a different usb port, and try a different usb cable.
A lot of this will depend on the specific module. The quality of the components used, as well as heat dissipation are big factors here. It would be worth reaching out to the manufacturer for the laser purchases to see if they have recommended continuous run time.
I connected my sculpfun a couple of weeks ago but have not had time to use it. when getting back on my laser is not in with the graph in lightburn. When creating a circle in lightburn on the far left the laser start in the far right. I am not sure how to rest the two so they match. Can anyone help?

Hello...When I do the fill and then go to the preview, the pink shaded area starts way before my text and ends way after. It is not as in your example where the pink shaded area starts at the first letter of LightBurn and ends at the last letter. Please explain this. Thank You
If you blindly entered “3000” as a speed, ignoring the units used, and your system is set to mm/sec instead of mm/min or inches/min instead of mm/min, either of those would be *much* faster. That would be the most likely difference. You might also have turned up the overscan amount - the default is 2.5%, but a higher amount would add more overshoot.

@@fazelhassan - It does not matter which setting you choose, you just can't blindly assume that if you enter "3000" that LightBurn knows what units you meant. If you see a speed value on the internet, it should include the units. If the speed was 3000 mm/min, that is the same as 50 mm/sec (divide by 60 to convert /min into /sec). How you choose to display the speed is a preference, and that can be changed in the settings. It would be best if you could show a picture, so we can see the results, but you can’t do that here. Does the circle just look a little funny, or is it made of jagged lines that look like scribbles?
@@jasniHD most likely you are using a cracked copy of the software. We automatically detect this and make it fail in a number of frustrating ways. Download the official version from our website and it will not do this.
You will want to run a test grid to get the best settings for your laser on the specific granite. The settings will vary from machine to machine. If you want a baseline it may be worth reaching out to the manufacturer to see if they can provide that.
Error 9 can be caused by a number of things. It is shown when the machine goes into a lock state that is typically accompanied by additional info. -Flame detector on Ortur machines -Changes made when using a rotary -Machine not homing correctly To name a few. If you are getting Error 9 look in the console before and see if there is any other information or error being shown along with it.
