Settlement Builds for Noobs | Spectacle Island 

The problem I have with Spectacle Island is that it is just too big. Also, many of the fixed buildings and objects should scrap.

One more suggestion: You mentioned that you don't often decorate settler rooms, since they don't spend much time in them, but I'd encourage you to give it a shot anyway in future builds. At least for your special settlers (like the traders). Like, give each special settler's living space a theme and pop down a few decorations in that theme to add some personality to the space. After all, people would flock to live in a heavily fortified concrete bunker settlement in this world, but they'd want it to feel homey and comfortable and reflect their personalities. They wouldn't want it to FEEL like a concrete bunker.

Something you might do with the cluster of wrecked ships is set up scavenging stations and containers (and maybe like Dumpsters) to make it look like the ships are being salvaged. It's a damned shame there's no option to construct boats like there is for rail cars and buses. Minutemen Navy should be a thing!

Because I play my own head-canon lore of Fallout 4... I like to use Spectactle Island as a Fortress Stronghold thats built to take all the inhabitants of the Commonwealth Minutemen-aligned Settlements in, in case of emergency. I like to take inspiration from the classic Fallout Vaults, and so try to build a "large mountain" complex thats concrete fortified on the outside, Vault-Tec on the inside, and unassuming from a distance. In my head-canon... once the Mechsuit invaders arrive, and the violence picks up with the Institute, the Minutemen move to relocate everyone they can to Spectactle Island. Yeah, it means some people have to abandon their homes for awhile, but the alternative is being caught in the crossfire between 2 lunatic factions going to war with eachother. I also set up enough jobs around, that (in my head-canon) people working shops in other settlements do shifts at the Fortress while they're there. I Also put 8-12 Artillery Cannons around, build Defence Towers of Missile Launchers around the Island, and place Laser Defence turrets around all Vault Door entrences. I probably have 5 complexes total, with the Central one being atop the Radio Tower on the island, where the Overseer's Office is located. ...I have tried repeatedly to get the "Power Sector" to power the whole Island, but it doesn't seem to like hop-scotching, so I have to have a Reactor in each sector of the Island.

Solid build. I like how you add arcades in a lot of your places. It's a nice touch. The concrete isn't to my taste in my game, but you've (repeatedly) made a good case for why you build with it. And I keep coming back to your channel, so...

You asked for suggestions, so here's one. Consider moving your trader counters inside your indoor shops from the back walls to nearer the shop doors. That'll make them more convenient for you to use (if you ever do). It'll also keep your shop interiors from looking quite so bare.

Dude your crushing it! Thanks x's two; first( for making me feel less weird for still playing this game.) It probably will never be hailed as much as new Vegas. But the role play was there. It was through settlement building. And second ( while I play on Xbox, you've given me a whole new aspect... not to mention reason to revisit and rebuild.) Thanks man!

I have noticed in a lot of your settlements that I don’t see any lighting in the small bedrooms. Have you considered a small bedside table with a lamp, which is something that seems practical. Also I always add at least a dresser or standing locker in bedrooms because I would think settlers wouldn’t want everything they own locked in a trunk. I know you like very minimal builds but these items I think add a minimum of comfort and usefulness for settlers. Thanks for your content.

I really enjoyed this build. I just opened up Spectacle Island and am trying to do something with it. You gave me a few great ideas. I will research and see if I can find a tutorial on your lighthouse build. I was especially interested in that. I also like using concrete. I think about hurricanes and tornadoes and I naturally assume concrete would hold up the best. Thank you for sharing.

Man!!! I wanna show you my Spetacle Island too! But i dont make videos... I wall the whole island! And build a lot of concret houses, includes a museum, hotel (all npcs), arena battle, a gym, and every store! Have lights, have living rooms, anyway... I don't mean to brag, but I enjoyed what I did.

I love one of my muck abouts I did with this spot, by accident. I did use mods for extra.. stuff. Of the many things I placed, put down an alien ship on the top of one of the hills to look crashed. (Ended up using a full build mod that turned the island into a military base). Came back to it and saw the terrain had been flattened, but the ship was still at the same level it had been before, so it looked like it was hovering in place… Put a dead Brahmin underneath it for extra fun.

I built about 100 ghoul traps connected to a single switch, so each time I come back to the island there’s a huge fight against the ghouls we trap and everyone is warned by a siren connected to an xor circuit

Why not fire for the lighthouse instead of lamps?

The mortar is on a rail and can thus rotate. Looks nice though.

I know this was a year ago, but how do you connect all your power without it looking like a mess and still use the same generator? You may discuss it in the video, but I'm not able to listen at the moment. I'll watch more once I can play the sound.

my problem with Spectacle island is its terrain. too much up and down so you cant really build a singular big build and also creating footpaths is very difficult specially without mods. thank god for place everywhere mod

Spectacle Island Feels like an reward for crossing the deadly and short see path but without the quest. Since all water related stuff got cut due to time crunch. Shame.

Although I love spectacle island and far harbor for the matter, but makes no sense in fallout world, how another do settlers get to the island? Not like boats are running regularly same as the caravans, doubt the brahman are getting on the boats to far harbor 😂
