Welcome back, I’ve missed you 😊. thanks for the beautiful video. I have to admit I’m not sure why, but I got quite emotional at one stage. I think it’s because it’s such an idyllic location. You obviously care for each other and that’s a life I never lead but I wish I had looking forward to your next video, guys.
Thank you, Graham! 😊 It means so much to know you missed us and connected so deeply with the video. This cottage and setting feel incredibly special to us too, and we're so grateful to share it with you. Your words are truly touching, and we’re honored to bring a bit of that “idyllic” feeling to you through our journey. Looking forward to sharing the next one with you. Take care! 🏡❤️✨
Haha, yes, that’s our Benji! 😂❤ He’s already a regular at the pub, making friends and getting all the attention. Thanks for cheering him on, Clive! 👍🏴🏡🐾
How lucky the 3 of you are Loveing in such a wonderful cottage full of history long since passed and make new history together in the new place cottages are so special My husband and I and the cat and dog want to go from our beach cottage to our true country cottage. Best wishes Scotland is pretty nice I hear??? My 3rd gr8 grandfather was born there .
Thank you, Michael! 😊 We do feel incredibly lucky to be here, surrounded by so much history, and excited to make new memories in this cottage. Your dream of moving from a beach cottage to a country one sounds wonderful-there’s something so special about cottage life, isn’t there? And yes, Scotland is amazing, filled with beauty and charm at every turn. How fantastic to have such a strong Scottish connection through your family! Wishing you, your husband, and your furry friends all the best on your own journey to the countryside. 🏡🐾
I love how the BT engineer is saying "solid the luck ye git in atweenem. In that connects tae yer CPT up in will pit a CSP" and you're just nodding along saying "Right, right" lol.
Haha, you nailed it! 😂 The BT engineer might as well have been speaking a different language, but nodding along felt like the best approach! “Right, right” seems to be our go-to when we’re completely lost in translation. Thanks for the laugh-it’s all part of the adventure! 😄📞
@@TwoMenTheirDog It's like when I take my car to the garage and they say "The filanjy came aff yer sprocket init'll spunge yer plunket and bushes". I also just nod along and say "Right, right".
Thank you, Rosemary! 😊 We’re feeling so cozy and settled in, and you’re right-Benji’s already figured out the best spot in town! 😂 We’re absolutely loving our new home. Thanks for being part of our journey! 🏡🐾
Thank you, Carol Ann! 😊 We’re so happy to hear you’re enjoying the videos. The cottage is feeling nice and cosy, and Benji is absolutely in his element with all the long walks-he’s loving every minute of it! Thanks so much for watching. Love back to you! x 🏡🐾❤️
Just wanted to wish all 3 of yous all the very best in your new home 🏡,,,here's to a long, healthy and happy future 🎉 have you noticed a change for the better in Benjie,,, Take care, Tony here in the UK 🇬🇧
Thank you so much, Tony! 😊 Your kind wishes mean a lot to us! We’re definitely hoping for a long, happy future here. And yes, Benji seems to be absolutely thriving-he’s more energetic and happy with all the space and new adventures! Sending our best from Scotland! 🏡🎉🐾
Thank you so much, Eileen! 😊 We feel incredibly lucky with the beautiful landscape around us, and the cottage truly has so much potential. So glad you enjoyed the video-plenty more to come as we bring this place to life! 🏡✨
Hooray! The drippy table made it!! Sheep in one field, dead people in the other. Does it get any better?!?! And the coal scuttle fits right perfect. And Benji the Pub Dog. Life is good. Love and hugs from me in New Mexico USA.
Great update, you are both looking very happy and with Benji already knowing where he gets treats, I'm sure he's loving it already. It's amazing how different people treat their neighbours in small villages, you become part of a community, not at all like the suburbs. Take care and enjoy settling in. ❤️
Thanks! 😊 We’re definitely feeling happy and settled, and Benji’s already mastered the art of finding his treat spot-he’s loving it! You’re so right about village life; it’s wonderful how welcoming and close-knit the community is, so different from the suburbs. We’re feeling really grateful to be part of it. Thanks for the kind words, and we’re looking forward to enjoying every moment here! ❤️
Thank you, Fiona! 😊 We’re so excited to share our design and renovation plans with you as they take shape. And you’re absolutely right-Benji zeroed in on the treat spot immediately! 😂 He’s already making himself at home. Thanks for watching and for your lovely comment! 🏡🐾✨
My partner and I live in a cottage in Carlops. I remember when we got BT to come and install a line. It was in for a day, when I went outside to cut the ivy growing up the walls and cut straight through the line.
Haha, oh no, Wayne! 😂 That sounds like exactly the sort of thing we’d manage to do! We’re trying to be careful with all the installations, but I can definitely see us having a moment like that. Thanks for the laugh-and greetings from our cottage to yours in Carlops! 🏡🌿
Thank you so much, Diana! 😊 Your kind words mean a lot, and I’m so glad our videos bring a bit of joy your way. Sending smiles back to you from Scotland! xxx 🏡😊
If you knock thru to the unfinished attic, turn it into a room you could use the Center room as a hallway between the two rooms at either end of the attic. You could then remove one of the two staircases leaving only the one leading to the center section and get back more space downstairs and possibly have room for an upstairs bathroom in the centre section.
Thank you, Lorraine! 😊 That’s a fantastic idea! Knocking through to connect the attic spaces and creating a central hallway would open up so many options, especially with only one staircase. It would definitely free up space downstairs and, as you mentioned, could even make room for an upstairs bathroom. We’ll keep this idea in mind as we explore possibilities-appreciate the creative thinking! 🏡✨
Just watched the video until or till the end and just super happy you’re both happy and benji is also happy so glad for you you don’t need to reply to me just so happy you’re very obviously happy relaxed
Thank you so much, Tinkerbell! 😊 We really appreciate your kind words and all the support. It means the world to know that our happiness shines through-it’s definitely a joyful new chapter for all three of us. Thanks for watching along with us! 🏡🐾❤️
Thank you so much, Ellie! 😊 We’re thrilled to have you along with us on this journey. It’s amazing to hear it’s your dream too, and hopefully, one day, it’ll be a reality for you as well. Until then, we’re glad we can share a bit of it with you! 🏡✨
Love to see you getting settled in your lovely new home - Benjy is such a happy boy. I know you’ll get lots of input for renovating, but given they may be quite extensive, I would definitely recommend an architect. You definitely want to get it right the first time. Looking forward to seeing what you decide.
Love it lads, from beautiful Bali, I do miss the UK countryside, just not the freaking cold, enjoy your beautiful sanctuary, cannot keep the smile off Benji;s face he loves it. look forward to all the instalments cheers
Thank you so much, Rosemary! 😊 Sending warm wishes all the way to beautiful Bali! We’re definitely soaking up the charm of the UK countryside (cold and all, haha!), and Benji’s happiness is just contagious-he’s loving every moment here! So glad you’re following along with us. Cheers to more cosy updates ahead! 🏡🐾✨
I can tell by your ruddy cheeks that you are really enjoying the countryside and the walks with Benjie. I love how beautiful the views are and that fire is so inviting. I'm sure as winter approaches you will certainly enjoy settling in by the fire maybe with a drink or two. Enjoy your new home boys!!!
Thank you, Eric! 😊 You’re absolutely right-our rosy cheeks are a giveaway that we’re loving every bit of the fresh countryside air and our walks with Benji! The views here are incredible, and that cosy fire has quickly become our favorite spot as the weather cools down. We’re definitely looking forward to more evenings by the fire with a drink in hand! Cheers to a cosy winter ahead! 🏡🔥🥂
Thank you, Maria! 😊 We feel incredibly lucky to be living this life in such a beautiful place. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and we’re glad to have you along with us. Thanks for the lovely comment! x 🏡✨
Your happiness is palpable and I look forward to watching you unwind and start living on country time! Benji is living his best life in the country, off leash and already knows the way to the pub! ❤
Thank you so much! 😊 We’re definitely feeling the joy of country life, and it’s amazing to know that happiness shines through! Benji is absolutely in his element, trotting around off-leash and, of course, making himself a regular at the pub already. 😂 Here’s to unwinding and embracing “country time” together! ❤ 🏡🐾
It's nice to see you in the cottage, guys. Benji seems to like it quite nicely. How exciting that you're getting fiber installed. It will be so nice to have access to the internet, etc. The garden is looking lovely. It does take time to get settled in. I think it is coming together quite nicely so far. It's good to take your time. Thank you for sharing. I really enjoy your videos. Take care. ❤
Thank you, Auntie! 😊 We’re so glad you’re enjoying the journey with us. Benji is absolutely loving the cottage life, and yes, having fiber installed is going to be a game-changer-so much easier to stay connected! The garden is a work in progress, but it’s coming together bit by bit, and we’re happy to take our time making it all feel like home. Thanks for the kind words and for watching. Take care! ❤🏡🌿
Thank you, Tina. ❤️ We know exactly how heartbreaking it is to lose a furry family member. We lost our 15-year-old Labrador, Sam, a few years back, and we thought we’d never get another-it’s so painful when they go. But time really does help, and eventually, the house felt too quiet without a dog. That’s when Benji came into our lives. Sending lots of love your way, and may the wonderful memories of Boo bring you comfort. 🐾❤️
Thank you, Dan! 😊 Greetings back to you in the US! We’re so glad you’re enjoying the videos. And yes, Benji’s pub adventures are quickly becoming legendary-he’s making himself right at home there, haha! 🍻🐾
Welcome to Scotland. Loads you can do with an old cottage. Use a good architect and take your time. We just done ours on the west coast looking out onto Arran. 😁👍
Thank you, John! 😊 It’s amazing to be here, and we’re excited about all the potential this cottage holds. Taking our time and working with a good architect is definitely the plan. Your place on the west coast with views of Arran sounds absolutely stunning-what a dream! 😁👍🏡
I just love your video's, such a lovely countryside I just want to walk those hills with you guys and Benji. Hey you guys have really got a gem there, really nice😊❤
Thank you so much, Steve! 😊 We’re so glad you’re enjoying the videos and the beautiful countryside-there’s nothing like those peaceful hill walks with Benji! It really does feel like we’ve found a gem here, and we’re thrilled to share it with you. ❤🏞️🐾
You’re all so settled and happy, hard to believe it’s only been 2 weeks! Really enjoying watching your videos, looking forward to seeing what you do in the future. Benji is a sweetheart, imagine him being a regular at the pub. 😂 I used to have a little cottage, the winters were amazing, I loved being all cosy and warm inside watching the snow fall, well, until I had to dig the car out to get to work😂 Sandra xx
Thank you so much, Sandra! 😊 We’re definitely settling in quicker than we thought, and it’s wonderful to hear you’re enjoying the videos! Benji is already loving his new routine, and yes, we can totally imagine him becoming a pub regular, haha! Your memories of winter in a cottage sound so cosy (minus the digging the car out part! 😂). Looking forward to sharing all the seasons here with you. xx 🏡❄️🐾
Absolutely! 👍 We’re taking our time to get a feel for the place and see what really works for us before diving into any big changes. It’s all part of making it truly ours. Thanks for the advice! 😊
Hola, Mark! 😊 Thanks for tuning in all the way from Ecuador! We’re thrilled you think the cottage is cozy, and yes-Benji and his panda are quite the duo! 🐾🐼 Appreciate the kind words!
Thank you! 😊 Yes, we’re still in the midst of unpacking, and you’re right-there’s something oddly satisfying about finding a spot for everything. It’s starting to feel more like home with each box we tackle! Thanks for the well wishes! 🏡📦✨
Maybe you could cathedral ceiling your master bedroom if you wanted to open that space, and didn’t need that attic space for anything else? Anyway, all the best in your new home. Kind Wishes from New Zealand.
Thank you so much! 😊 A cathedral ceiling in the master bedroom would be a beautiful way to open up that space if we decide we don’t need the attic for storage. Definitely something to consider! Sending our best from Scotland to New Zealand, and thanks for the kind wishes! 🏡✨
I’ve only just started to watch your vlog, but I’m loving it. Love your gorgeous cottage and can’t wait to watch your next vlog. Thank you for sharing with us 😊
Thank you so much! 😊 We’re thrilled you’ve joined us on this journey and are loving the cottage already. Can’t wait to share more with you in the next vlog-thanks for being here with us! 🏡✨
It would make a great office. You could actually build a wall dividing the the room into two rooms. The back half for storage, the front half could be an office.
Thank you! 😊 That’s a brilliant idea! Dividing the space could definitely make it more functional, with storage at the back and an office up front. We’ll definitely keep this in mind as we work out the layout. Appreciate the suggestion! 🏡✨
Aw guys I love love love your new home, it's just so lovely and I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do to the place. I moved two years ago and I still have boxes that are unpacked lol you just wonder where it's all come from! I love watching Benji, it's my favourite dog breed and he's a beauty. I just wish my situation was different so I could have one. Great video guys, take it easy and I will look forward to your next vlog ❤ ❤
Thank you so much, Sean! 😊 We’re thrilled you’re enjoying the new home right along with us! It’s funny how those boxes can hang around, isn’t it? We’re already wondering where it all came from, too! Benji is soaking up all the love, and we’re so grateful to have him with us. Hopefully, one day you’ll have the chance to bring a furry friend into your life as well. Thanks for watching, and we can’t wait to share the next vlog with you! ❤️🐾🏡

I have been waiting to see how things have gone so delighted to see you here guys. Love the plants on the spiral staircase. They make such a difference to the area. Benji is a hoot with his toys. Love seeing him. Hope you bought a wheelbarrow of any sort at the DIY shop. Doesn’t matter if you have boxes all over. Give yourself time to just get settled. We still have a garage full of stuff and moved two years ago in December!!🙈 see you soon guys.🍁
Thank you, Jill! 😊 We’re so glad you’re enjoying the updates and loving the little plant setup on the spiral staircase-it really does add a nice touch! Benji keeps us entertained with his toys; he’s truly at home here. Haha, we didn’t pick up a wheelbarrow on this trip, but it’s definitely on the list! And thank you for the reminder to take our time; it’s nice to know we’re not alone in the “boxes everywhere” stage. Sounds like your garage still holds a few treasures from your own move! 😂 Looking forward to sharing more soon. 🍁🏡🐾
Thank you so much! 😊 We’re thrilled you’re enjoying the production quality, and we’re so glad to finally be settling in. It’s a pleasure to share the journey with you! 🏡🎬✨
Hello! So happy to see you guys at home, the lovely country cottage. Benji sitting by the fireplace -- Love it . The birds feeding at the bird-station so happy and free! Beautiful walks, the forest looked magic. The living room looked so cozy with the two of you by the fireplace with a drink, very romantic ♥♥. The staircase looked very nice with the plants but maybe you will come out with another idea that suits your taste. Lovely to see Adam smiling and giving his opinion and also less stressed out. Johnny you always so cheerful and agreeable . We love the way you speak -- beautiful accent. We always wait for your next vlogs and at the same time wish all the best for the 3 of you. Love makes everything better. Love and best regards from the 3 of us. 🏠🐶♥♥
Thank you so much for the beautiful message and all the warm wishes! 😊 We’re delighted that you’re enjoying the cosy moments here, from Benji by the fire to the bird station filled with happy visitors. The forest walks really do feel like a bit of magic, and we’re grateful to be able to share it all with you. Your kind words about our accents and the little details, like the plants on the staircase, mean a lot. We may eventually find a staircase design that fits even better, but for now, it’s lovely to add touches that make it feel like home. Adam’s smiles and opinions are coming out more and more, and you’re right-love truly does make everything better. Thank you for being here with us and for all your support. Sending lots of love and best wishes from the three of us to you! 🏡🐶❤️ xx
Thank you, Mary! 😊 We’re absolutely loving it here, and don’t worry-we’re always mindful of the sheep in the fields nearby. If there’s cattle around, we keep Benji on a lead to make sure everyone stays safe. Appreciate the reminder, and thank you for following along with us! 🐑🐾🏡
Thank you, Dave! 😊 We’re so glad it’s starting to feel homely already. You’re absolutely right-there’s plenty to keep us busy for a long time, but we’re excited for the journey! Can’t wait to share more with you in future videos. 🏡✨
Haha, you’re absolutely right, Catherine! 😂 If Benji could talk, he’d probably be giving us a hard time for not moving here sooner! We’re so glad you’re enjoying the videos, and thank you for being part of the journey with us! 🐾❤️🏡
Lovely to wake up to your updated video, cottage looks so cosy, views are stunning and sounds like you are in a fantastic community love it how Benji went to the pub lol. Living in Australia I do miss the cosy cottages and character houses. Looking forward to all your updates and following the progress well done 👏
Thank you, Denise! 😊 We’re so glad our video brought a bit of cosy cottage charm to your morning! It really is a beautiful spot with such a warm community-Benji’s little pub visits are already becoming legendary, haha! Sending a bit of UK cottage cosiness all the way to Australia, and we can’t wait to share more updates with you. Thanks for following along! 👏🏡🐾✨
So happy for you, good to see Benji has his priorities straight 🍻 Your local council should have an Engineer available to come out and advise you on what can/can't be done structurally with load bearing walls before you make any decisions. Looking forward to the next update xx
Thank you, Joanne! 😊 Benji definitely has his priorities sorted-he’s already a local at the pub! 🍻 Thanks for the tip on the council engineer. Getting professional advice on the structural aspects is a great idea, especially with those load-bearing walls. We’ll look into it before making any big decisions. Can’t wait to share more updates with you! xx 🏡✨
So good to see you settling in and feeling at home. How fabulous does your chesterfield look with the matching colour wood of the fire surround and the same tones in the stone wall, it's cosyness personified!! Loved seeing all the plants around especially in the porch and around the cottage too, a great way to clean the air when you regularly have an open fire ( get toasting crumpets..). With regard to the structural changes, before thinking of an architect I'd contact a structural engineer who can tell you whats possible and also the legal requirements if you wanted to converrt the roof space over the master bedroom, though it does look like the previous owners were starting something.. But, even before that, talk to people in the Pub and sound out who the local builder is, chances are they'll have the best knowledge and experience of working on those cottages and you could probably bypass an architect alltogether, If the Farmer has lived there all his life he'll be a fountain of knowledge for knowing who has carried out building works or renovations on all the local properties in the past and who does a great job and who to avoid, You're part of a welcoming community, bed yourselves in with them by showing that you trust them to have the best knowledge in the area. Nice 5 bar traditional gates would look lovely with the garden and cottage to prevent Benji from becomming the local Biccyholic down at the Pub 🤣
Thank you, Bear! 😊 You’ve got such a great eye for detail-our Chesterfield does fit right in with the tones of the fire surround and stone wall, doesn’t it? It really brings a cosy feel to the space. We’re loving the plants around the cottage too, especially in the porch, and you’re spot on-they do wonders for the air, especially with an open fire (and we do love our crunpets 😅). Your advice on structural changes is fantastic! Starting with a structural engineer makes total sense to understand what’s feasible. And talking to locals, especially at the pub, is such a good idea; there’s bound to be a wealth of knowledge right here in the community. We might even get the name of a local builder who knows these cottages well-nothing beats firsthand recommendations! And yes, a traditional 5-bar gate sounds perfect for keeping Benji from his biccy escapades down at the pub. 🤣 Thanks again for the thoughtful advice and the support! 🏡✨
Thank you so much, Kathy! 😊 We’re so happy you found our channel and enjoyed the video. And yes, Benji is absolutely spoiled with love-he’s our little superstar! 🐾❤️
My husband and I watch and are really enjoying your journey. He’s a builder and suggested you bring the staircase to end at the raised platform . You would lose that space but it’s narrow anyway and gain your wall back. Just a suggestion as it might not be possible 😊
Thank you, Julie (and husband)! 😊 We’re so glad you’re both enjoying our journey! That’s a fantastic suggestion about ending the staircase at the raised platform-definitely something we’ll look into. Gaining that wall space back could make a real difference, even if it means sacrificing a bit of the platform. Really appreciate the insight! 🏡✨
Great point, Clay! 😊 Extra storage is always a bonus, and keeping the loft for seasonal items sounds practical. We’re definitely considering using it as is for now-there’s something to be said for a bit of hidden storage! Thanks for the suggestion! 🏡📦✨
I am happy to see that you love your new home and that you are happy. With a bit of time, you will make this cottage a real corner of paradise. If Rupert, my english bulldog, was willing to cross the Ocean (we live in Montréal, Québec), we could stop and say hello ; I don't know if Rupert woud follow Benji to the pub. Dogs are really good companion, aren't they ?
Thank you, Jean-Marc! 😊 We’re truly loving our new home and can’t wait to turn it into our little corner of paradise. If only Rupert could make the journey-he’d be more than welcome to join us! I imagine he and Benji would get along famously, though I wonder if he’d be as quick to follow Benji down to the pub! 😂 Dogs really are the best companions, and we’re so grateful for ours. Sending warm greetings from Scotland to Montréal! 🐾🏡❤️
I think the plants on the stairs look great , I love your new home and Benji seems so happy and chilled back . Just take your time with a drink to fit everything in its place . Love Sharyn and Rosie 🇳🇿
Thank you so much, Sharyn (and Rosie)! 😊 We’re glad you like the plants on the stairs-they add a nice touch, don’t they? Benji is settling in wonderfully and seems so relaxed here. We’re definitely taking our time and enjoying a cosy drink while we make it all fit together bit by bit. Sending love back to you both from Scotland! 🏡🍃🐾
Thank you so much, Marilyn! 😊 We’re thrilled you enjoyed the episodes and are following along with us! Lots more to come, and we can’t wait to share all the transformations with you. Stay tuned! 🏡✨
Greetings from Ontario, Canada. Loving your channel. Scotland is beautiful. Your cottage is lovely. Looking forward to each video. Benji is sweet. Cheers.
Thank you so much, Monika! 😊 Greetings from Scotland to beautiful Ontario! We’re so happy you’re enjoying the channel and following our cottage journey. Benji’s loving all the attention, too! Cheers, and can’t wait to share more with you! 🏡🐾🍃
Thank you, Lisa! 😊 So glad you’re enjoying the place-and I’m happy to introduce you to some UK slang! “Waffling” is one of my favorites for when we’re chatting a bit too much. 😂 It’s fun to share these little expressions across the pond! 🏡
Great video and so many things are the same way we living together , my husband is also always in the garden if it is Spring, Summer or the Fall and works after is daily professor job until it is getting dark.....i am more of the inside of our house and make the walks with Barney and Elly. Benji is very lucky to walk in that beautiful surroundings of hills and Forrest and walk without a lease ! So many plans and i did like the idea of removing that staircase and go for the Singer one and make some entrance upstairs, because that staircase in the Living room is not ideal. And even making plans is such a nice way to let your fantasy go and making all kind of option and possibility coming true, and some day it will all happen, step by step. We did the same when we moved into our house and it is taken some years to realize all the plans that we have, sometimes it was time, other times money and sometimes we did have no energy to do some jobs. But in the end we are still making steps for a Home that is done. Love the question if Adam was happy and like he said that the neighbors are so nice and making contact and taken interest in the people in the village, and those things are much more important then anythings else ! Love the video and hope to see so much more of you and your Cottage ! See you on the next episode !
Thank you so much, Mr. Huismeester! 😊 It’s amazing to hear how much our journey resonates with yours. I love that your husband is always busy in the garden, no matter the season, while you enjoy the cosy side indoors and walk with Barney and Elly-such a lovely balance! Benji is definitely spoiled with these beautiful surroundings; he’s loving the off-leash freedom in the hills and forest. The idea of replacing that staircase with a Singer-style one has been on our minds, and we couldn’t agree more about letting ideas simmer and seeing what’s possible over time. Like you said, it’s a mix of time, budget, and energy, but every step brings us closer to making it feel truly ours. And yes, having such friendly neighbors has really been the highlight-we feel so welcomed! Thank you for watching and sharing your story. We’re so glad to have you along for the journey, and can’t wait to see you in the next episode! 🏡✨
Well, that was a lot of fun! It's such a tranquil setting, and your garden is beautiful. I can only imagine how colorful it will be with spring blooms. It's heartwarming to have friendly neighbors. That's wonderful! Benji - living his best life, and slipping off to the pub to unwind with a snack. 😊 Thanks for the update!
Thank you, Wendy! 😊 So glad you enjoyed the update! We’re loving the peaceful setting and can’t wait to see the garden come to life with all the spring blooms. And yes, having such friendly neighbors has been a true blessing! Benji is definitely living his best life, especially with those cheeky pub visits. 😂 Thanks for following along with us! 🏡🌸🐾
I know you have so much to do but I think it is just wonderful,so many birds in the garden, wow, love the way Benji supervises, in fact just love it all, have a great week.
Thank you, Dale! 😊 You’re right-there’s plenty to keep us busy, but we’re loving every bit of it! The garden birds have been such a treat, and Benji takes his supervising duties very seriously, haha. So glad you’re enjoying it all with us. Hope you have a fantastic week too! 🐾🌿✨
Hi Guys, Geoff from Arizona again! Looks like you’re settling in well. Funny you should mention about removing the sitting room spiral and knocking through upstairs to access the room via the kitchen spiral stairs - I was going to write to suggest the same thing! I did have another idea though (not related to the spiral). Have you thought about moving the small staircase in the middle of the room leading up to the bedroom across to the far left of the room (removing the decorative handrail to perhaps re-purpose it as a neat headboard)? You would then be able to create a floor-to-ceiling built-in unit on that upper level (disguising the lower wall), to include a discreet TV cabinet with doors, a whiskey nook, integrated bookcase, and a place for one of your cute lamps etc.. I could envisage lots of cool tongue-and-groove woodwork, Farrow and Ball heritage paint to add character! Sorry for the essay - I got carried away!!! All the best to you both and Benji too, of course!
Hi Geoff! 👋 It’s great to hear from you again, all the way from Arizona! You’re spot on with your ideas-we’re definitely considering removing the sitting room spiral and accessing that area through the kitchen staircase. And moving the small staircase to the far left of the room is a fantastic suggestion. We love the idea of repurposing the decorative handrail as a headboard-it’s creative and would fit the cottage vibe perfectly! Your vision for a floor-to-ceiling built-in unit sounds incredible! A discreet TV cabinet, whisky nook, bookcase, and space for one of our lamps...it’s like you’re reading our minds! The tongue-and-groove woodwork with some heritage paint would bring so much character. Thanks for the inspiration-we love hearing ideas like yours. Benji sends his regards too! 🐾 Cheers! 🏡✨
Thanks, James! 😊 That’s a great suggestion-a Ramsey loft ladder could be a practical swap for the spiral staircase and save some space too. Definitely something for us to consider as we plan things out. Appreciate the idea! 🏡✨
I feel you need a large dormer window in the attic. Can you stand up in it? Maybe raise the roof a bit. Then make extra rooms. Depends on how much you wish to spend!
Thanks for the suggestion, Flo! 😊 A large dormer window could definitely make a huge difference in the attic, and we could gain some valuable headroom too. Raising the roof a bit would open up even more options for extra rooms! You’re right-budget will play a big part, but it’s such an exciting idea to consider. Thanks for the inspiration! 🏡✨
Hey guys so happy for you it looks so amazing and regarding the fridge I used to live in Spain I have a Spanish daughter who cannot resist touching stuff in shops she is 34 always the same so a high end shop sold smeg fridges and basically I can tell you handles sorry not sure if spelling is correct came off not the quality you expect you were saved by the bell so to speak very happy for you x
Hey Tinkerbell! 😊 Thank you so much for the kind words-it’s amazing to hear you’re as excited for us as we are! And that’s a great story about the Smeg fridge! Sounds like we dodged a bullet there. It’s funny how some things just aren’t quite the quality you’d expect. Thanks for sharing, and sending lots of love to you and your Spanish daughter! x 🏡✨
Thank you, Karla! 😊 We absolutely love our fireplace-it adds so much cosiness to the cottage, especially on these chilly evenings. Perfect for relaxing by the fire! 🔥🏡✨
Thank you so much! 😊 It’s wonderful to be here, and we couldn’t agree more-there’s nothing like coming home and feeling that sense of pride and joy! How lovely that your cottage is similar; we’re cottage neighbors in spirit! Ayrshire is beautiful-sending love from our little corner of Scotland to yours! 🏡😍 x
Aww, thank you, Lisa! 😊 Benji is definitely a big softie, and I can imagine him next to your little Benny-it would be quite the size difference! Bet Benny is just as sweet! 🐾❤️
That was well worth waiting for, another beautiful video from my three favourite boys. I don’t know what your reno budget is but it’s usually worth hiring an architect who has experience with similar homes. If too costly, I’d make a cathedral ceiling at least in the master bedroom. Hugs and kisses from your Sydney cat friend ❤️😻
Thank you so much, Boofiecat! 😊 We’re thrilled you enjoyed the video-it means the world to be among your favorites! Your advice on hiring an architect is spot on, especially one with experience in cottages like ours. And a cathedral ceiling in the master bedroom sounds amazing! We’ll see what the budget allows, but we love dreaming big! Sending hugs and kisses back to you and your kitty from all of us! ❤️😻🏡
Thank you, Beverly! 😊 Welcome to the journey-it’s wonderful to have you with us! We’re excited to share this new chapter with you and can’t wait to show you more of our cottage life. ❤ 🏡
That did make me laugh Benji taking himself to the pub, he knows the best place to be 🤣and he looks like he really is happy out on his walks and by the fire. I think you will need an architect rather than a builder to discuss your plans with if it affects the structure of your home and it sounds like it would, plus he/she might give you alternative ideas and will comply with any legal requirements. Things to think about but your ideas sound good and would give you so much more space in the living room. Have a great week!
Haha, glad Benji gave you a laugh! 😂 He definitely knows how to pick his spots-the pub, the walks, and of course, cosying up by the fire! You’re absolutely right about needing an architect if we decide to make any structural changes. Getting professional input would definitely help us explore options and make sure everything’s up to code. Lots to think about, but it’s exciting! Thanks for the great advice, and hope you have a fantastic week too! 🐾🏡😊
Lovely cottage. The lounge spiral staircase needs to go, a traditional staircase would be much safer for the dog plus getting furniture up stairs. The best place for the double bed is where the fireplace is but I am sure you will both figure it out. Looking forward to the next vlog
Thank you, Sandra! 😊 We completely agree about the lounge spiral staircase-it’s definitely not the most practical option, especially for Benji and moving furniture. A traditional staircase would be a great improvement. And good suggestion on the bed placement by the fireplace; it could add a really cosy feel to the room. We’re still figuring things out, but it’s all part of the fun! Looking forward to sharing more in the next vlog! 🏡✨
Can I run an idea? I’ve had past you you might think it’s rubbish but here goes that’s empty loft room you have if you could put and sorry I don’t know the proper name for them. It’s like a large window that you can open fully out and it converts into a little balcony, that would solve the problem of the fire escape that could be your 😅 office, that you were going to have as your office could be not into the other room and it be one big workshop which then you wouldn’t need the white spiral staircase ❤
Thanks so much for the suggestion, Ron! 😊 We love the idea! Adding a large window that opens into a small balcony could indeed solve the fire escape issue and make the loft room more versatile-perfect for an office space! And converting the current office into a larger workshop sounds brilliant, especially if it means we can remove the white spiral staircase and gain some extra space. Definitely not rubbish at all-this gives us a lot to think about! ❤
Absolutely, Caj! 😊 We’re taking our time and letting ideas come to us as we settle in. Waiting it out definitely helps us see all the possibilities before making any big changes. Thanks for the wise advice! ❤ xxx
Thanks guys lovely video, as regards your loft space. I was very impressed how well insulated it was but I don’t think you would get planning permission to use it as a room as it is present as there is no fire escape., Your lounge looked okay, but don’t worry guys about you still need to unpack things and can’t find anything. Rome wasn’t built in the day give it time get settled in., I’m delighted your forming plans of what you would like to do but again and I’m sure you will take your time. Make sure that is the right thing that you want to do. You’ve got years to get it done hopefully that could be your forever home.😊😊😊😊
Thanks so much, Ron! 😊 We really appreciate your thoughtful advice and encouragement. You’re absolutely right about the loft space-it's well insulated, but we’d definitely need to look into planning permissions and safety requirements like a fire escape if we were ever to use it as a proper room. And thank you for the reassurance about unpacking! We’re taking it slow and making sure each step feels right for us. It’s definitely a place we’d love to make our forever home, so we’ll enjoy every part of the journey. Cheers for following along with us! 😊🏡✨
That didn't take long, they didn't hesitate at all. I love watching them bath, here in our area you see them all having turns in any puddle big enough down our driveway. My cats are too interested for me to try to attract them to the garden.👍
It’s amazing how quickly the birds warmed up to the new feeder-they didn’t hesitate at all! Watching them enjoy the garden has been such a treat. I can imagine it must be lovely to see them taking turns in the puddles by your driveway! Totally understand about the cats, though-better safe than sorry! 🐦🐱👍
Hey guys congratulations on your cottage it's beautiful! Can't wait to see what your going to do with it. Loving seeing Benji loving the move too he's gorgeous. My partner says he's hoping you extend the attic spaces as its crying out for more space up there. John and Chris x
Thank you so much, John and Chris! 😊 We’re thrilled you’re enjoying the journey with us, and Benji’s loving every second of it too-he’s settled right in! Extending the attic is definitely on our minds; there’s so much potential up there! Can’t wait to see where it all takes us. Thanks for the encouragement! 🏡🐾 x
What a wonderful place to live. Congratulations 🎉 I so enjoy your videos. Can't wait to follow your journey. You are adorable. Do they have a service in the church? Do they ring the bells?❤🐶🍾
Thank you so much, España! 😊 We’re thrilled you’re enjoying the videos and following along on this journey with us-it truly feels like a dream come true here! The church building nearby is actually a museum now, so no services or bells, but it still adds such a charming touch to the village’s character. Thanks for all the love and support! ❤🐶🍾🎉
Congrats, Adam and Johnny. A lot has been unpacked and arranged for a cozy home. Looks good. That discourse about the structure (which began at digital, also known as digi, 30 min.: 15 sec.) was fascinating to hear. My sentiment strongly aligns with Adam's caution (digi. 33:30) to "Take The Time to get it right the first time." A second personal preference requires to pencil sketch every phase of the rebuild to DISCIPLINE the mind to walk thru each step of the renovation by sections of the hall, wall, electric outlets, window dormer, door, and room. You must be able to see what you intend. No guessing or estimating is allowed. And finally, those pencil sketches must be translated onto graph (squares) sheets to record the actual measurements in inches to envision the physical space realistically of every hallway, wall, electric outlet, window dormer, door, and room. Those measurements will demand the alteration of your imagination. The bonus of the draft measurements will be that it will be the control log (a bookkeeping term), the infrastructure for the costs of your Materials List. The costs will demand a measured pace of the installments of the rebuild. Be sure to empty out that bike room for the storage of the building materials. And you'll need the back, glass mud room for storage of all the required metal hardware.
Thank you, Adam! 😊 We really appreciate your thoughtful advice-pencil sketching each phase and using graph paper to detail measurements sounds like a smart approach. Adam’s words about taking the time to get it right definitely resonate with us, and your suggestion for discipline in planning will help ensure we don’t miss any steps. Transforming our ideas into detailed sketches will no doubt be eye-opening, keeping us both practical and realistic. We’ll keep in mind your tips for organized storage of materials too. The bike room and mudroom will definitely come in handy as we start gathering supplies. Thank you for your support and valuable insight-your experience truly adds a lot to our journey! 🏡✨
What a lovely home you have. What make us your Fridge Freezer? it’s just the size I’m looking for and with the freezer at the bottom with drawers. Looking forward to seeing what changes you make in your new home .
Thank you so much, Vanessa! 😊 We’re really enjoying making the cottage feel like home. Our fridge freezer is the CDA Florence in Barley-it has the perfect setup with the fridge on top and freezer drawers at the bottom. Looking forward to sharing more of the changes we make as we settle in! 🏡✨
We’re pleasantly surprised by the attic’s condition too-definitely feels like it has potential with a bit of work. We’re excited to see what we can make of it! 👍
Thank you so much! 🎉 We’re so glad the cosy vibes are reaching you! There’s nothing like Benji by the fire to warm things up. 😊 We’re excited to share more as our plans come together-stay tuned! ❤ xx
Haha, good eye, Amy! 😄 There’s a small public road out front that leads to a few other cottages, so it was probably just one of the neighbors passing by. Village life at its best! 🏡😊
Stunning. What a glorious countryside - multi-faceted views each day! The cottage is now home, well except for Benji (that would be the Pub!) Taking time to contemplate what you want to do and make the cottage your own takes time - I look forward to every decision and renovation! ~ David
Thank you, David! 😊 You’re absolutely right-the countryside is breathtaking, with something new to appreciate every day. And yes, for Benji, “home” seems to be wherever there’s a pub and a biscuit! 😂 We’re definitely taking our time to make thoughtful decisions, and it means a lot to know you’re following along with us on this journey. Can’t wait to share each step with you! 🏡✨
Been so excited for you! Loving watching Adam laugh and smile for the first time😁 loving the cottage and cannot wait to see what you do to it. Just a little point. Don’t be in a hurry to do work. Live in the cottage for a year and understand how it works for you. You have great taste though and I’m sure it is going to be amazing👍
Thank you so much, Shelley! 😊 We’re thrilled that you’re enjoying the journey with us, and it’s wonderful to hear you’re loving Adam’s smiles and laughter-it’s such a joy to capture those moments! You’re absolutely right about taking our time. We’re in no rush and want to really get a feel for the cottage before making any big changes. Thanks for the encouragement and for your confidence in our vision! 👍 Can't wait to share more with you! 🏡✨
My eyes also noticed that comment in the preface for this vlog that Adam is a bird watcher. I'm a tad familiar with the activity. After the white crepe myrtle (one in front of my home office and one in front of the picture window of the living room) grew to my neck size 17 inches (not in height ... ha), a gray cup holder (bought at Auto Zone) was screwed to the trunk. A small lucent plastic cup (only 3 inches tall from McDonalds) fit as a water jug. Three wooden poles (used to help saplings withstand the wind) were planted (in a triangle) into the square lawn only in front of the water jug. Then thin strips of wood were attached to the pole with twine to provide perches for the different sizes of birds. In 1 hour, all the wood poles and floating stairsteps were covered as a forest green. Who knew that in this CA climate of triple digit heat (average of 110 degrees) that the birds would visit frequently each day? For 30 years of my bookkeeping career, i would refill the cup at 6 pm. On the weekends, the drinking cups were refilled at 10, 3, & 6 during my own beverage breaks ... ha. Thus, my ears were rewarded each day by the flute orchestra of sparrows, beautiful blue jays, and flocks of tiny finches in every color. My eyes even saw the mating tango of the bluejays on the sidewalk as i quietly observed the dance behind my white metal security door. And after each spring, i became a grandpa as the annual flock of children were shown the mini pond nestled against the 2 trunks by their parents. Another benefit is that the chirpers kept my lawn clean each day of crawling critters and insects that emerged from my border hedges of Japanese Boxwood. The serenity was magical.
Thank you for sharing that beautiful story, Adam! 😊 Your setup sounds like an absolute haven for the birds-what a thoughtful and creative way to bring nature right into your home space. The image of those sparrows, blue jays, and finches forming a “flute orchestra” is just magical! I can imagine how rewarding it must have been to witness their daily rituals and even a bit of the blue jays’ “mating tango”-a true privilege to watch such moments unfold. It’s wonderful to know that your bird-watching has brought so much joy and serenity into your life, and it’s inspiring us as we set up our own little corner for the birds here. Thank you for the lovely insight-it adds even more meaning to Adam’s newfound bird-watching adventure! 🐦🎶🌿
Thank you, Judy! 😊 We’re so glad you enjoyed the video! We’re excited to keep sharing the journey as we bring the cottage to life. Can’t wait to show you all the transformations to come! 🏡✨
The move looks every bit worth the effort. Great imagery and ambience. You lads have a knack for it. What is the tank between the coal and wood storage?
Thank you, @waywed! 😊 We’re so glad the move and the cosy vibes are coming through in the video. That tank you spotted between the coal and wood storage is actually our oil tank for heating the cottage. Keeps things nice and warm during these cooler months! 🏡🔥
Hi Adam and Johnny glad you are settling into the cottage and Benji has made friends at the local pub 😀, love the countryside views does it snow there ? Lucky to have the upstairs space am sure you will get the access sorted better , those lounge spiral stairs are only good for plants 😀x
Hi, Dorothy! 😊 Thank you for the warm welcome! We’re loving the countryside, and yes, Benji seems to be making quite the impression at the pub, haha! It does snow here, so we’re looking forward to experiencing a snowy cottage winter. You’re absolutely right about those spiral stairs-they do seem to be better suited for plants at the moment! Sorting out proper access to the upstairs space is on the list. Thanks for watching, and we’re so glad to have you with us! x 🏡❄️🌿
Thank you so much, Gina! 😊 We’re thrilled to have found our home, and it means a lot that you’re enjoying the vlogs. Thanks for following along with us on this adventure! 🏡✨
