Thanks for the tutorial. Have to watch it again as i am new to Mikrotik. Creating trunks is done in a very different way than on a cisco switch/router. #lekkerbezig

Thank you for the tutorial. It's very helpful, because the whole MikroTik bridge concept is confusing - when to configure the interface and when to configure a port on the bridge. Also OOB management port is missing. There is a management port but it's part of the data plane.

Welcome to my first video. Please leave a comment to let me know how I did and if you'd like to see more tutorials. Also feel free to suggest a topic for a new video.

Video is actually one of the rare which show VLAN between different vendors but that video should be at least 3rd after 1st and 2nd where you explain network configuration, why you choose 31 as native VLAN, are there some incompatibilites between vendors, differences between native VLANs and peculiarities in Mikrotik and Cisco equipment (VLAN defaults, if any).

@Bob NS, Thanks for your comment. I agree with your analysis and will add a network configuration video to my list of videos to create. Vlan 31 is my native vlan because I migrated the interface from an access port to a trunk and I did not want to loose Layer 2 connectivity during the reconfiguration from access port to trunk. The choice for vlan 31 is simply because that was the vlan I was in and not because of an incompatibility between Mikrotik and Cisco. Great question, thanks!

Nice video tutorials. I have a topology where i have a hotspot with mikrotik router. Not sure of this topology I want to have a cisco router connected to my ISP then to cisco layer 3 switch and do a no switchport on the switch to connect my microtik router to handle strictly wireless access points to broadcast SSIDs for internet connectivity. Cisco router is connected to ISP and working on port fa0/1 Switch connected to cisco router on fa0/0 Microtik connected to switch on fa2/0/34 as a trunk allowing vlan 10 and 40(native) All access points connected to vlan 10 try ping to 8.8.8.8 not resolving Whats your suggestions......

Thank you for your comment. Without knowing more about your setup I cannot be sure but one thing that comes to mind is NAT. When your Cisco router is connected to the ISP make sure it does the NAT not only for its' own directly connected IP subnet(s) but also for the subnet(s) that are local to the Mikrotik. Also make sure the routing is in place between the Cisco and Mikrotik so that the Cisco knows how to route the traffic once the NAT translation is done. An alternative to making the Cisco do NAT for all your subnets can be to have the Mikrotik do NAT for all of its' subnets behind its' interface leading to fa2/0/34 on the Cisco. But as I said I cannot be sure without knowing more. Feel free to drop me a DM and we can discuss this more if my suggestions did not help.
