SEVEN NAMES OF GOD
"HARI, PARAMATMA, ALLAH, AHURMAZDA, GOD, YAZDAN, HU”
100 years ago in 1924 Meher Baba composed the “Seven Names of God” prayer, and had the Mandali recite it regularly.
Later on 15 June 1927, the new version of Seven Names of God, which was similar to the original composed by Beloved Baba in 1924, was given to the ashram boys to chant every day.
In the morning, one boy would first recite the names of God alone, and then all the boys would join in together, chanting the prayer for 15 minutes or half an hour. The prayer would be recited for five minutes before and after classes, all the boys standing with folded hands and facing the sun.
On July 1940, on the Blue Bus tour, Meher Baba said to the women Mandali, “Tomorrow, all of you write down the 7 Names of God and learn them by heart in seven days. All these names are one and that all religions of the world are like 'beads on one string', Baba honoring all the Avatars.
Baba said: “Sing it from the heart. Try your utmost. You will help me by doing your best.”
