I honestly think if they made kaori live, it would have taken away from the anime. The fact that the audience wants Kaori back means they told the story perfectly. The audience actually feels the sadness that Kousei and the others feel. If Kaori lived, it would have just made the ending feel like a generic "and then they lived happily ever after" ending.
The smile i used to wear before i watch this anime ... have changed .. A lot ... I think i cant take it all in ,The pain , The feels , the Sadness .... this is a very different kind of pain, and i wished i shouldnt have feel.. im very thankful because it makes me realize,That love is a very Special thing :D ....

One thing that motivated me was the hope that one day I'd visit these exact locations and imagine seeing kaori there, I'll visit the hospital room, the school music room, the "towa" hall, the trees, the bridge, the park bench, her bakery and I'll eat canele there. And the dome on which she stands in the park. This motivates me to work and get a job and get some money and just go to Japan and I'll see what happens next.
