I had that thought too. They would have had no idea what was waiting for them at the end of their journey, :( We'll never know just how relieved and happy they were to realise the place they were going to was this,

I think that they could feel the good vibes; animals know much more than we give them credit for. Of course they didn't know just how glorious it would be, but they knew they were being treated with kindness.

These elephants have probably been sold to different owners throughout their lives and each new owner asserts their dominance in horrible ways as soon as they take possession. They had no way of knowing who their new 'owner' would be. Most have probably been resigned to their fate. Search the story of Raju, the elephant who was sold over 20 times to successively cruel men. @@shaleyvale272 What is your point? These elephants were taken young and used nearly to death. They are old, some blind, most injured beyond repair and they cannot just be plunked down in the wilds. They are free to roam these large sanctuaries to have the only freedom they have ever known. No chains, medical care and food. They are where they will live best.
