Overview of the seven summits challenge including location, climbing difficulty, cost, and summit success rate. The seven summits in ascending order are - Kosciuszko (Australia), Vinson (Antarctica), Elbrus (Europe), Kilimanjaro (Africa), Denali (North America), Aconcagua (South America), Everest (Asia).

Mount Kosi in Australia for real? Now it is geographically accepted that the continental plate of Australia also includes Tasmania and the island of Papua New Guinea, which makes mount Puncak Jaya in West Papua the highest peak of Oceania, and one of the seven summits.

People are just looking for ways to make the tallest peaks the accepted ones for each continent. Oceania is not a continent. Australia is. Just because Kosciuszko is not that tall doesn’t mean it isn’t the tallest on the continent.

K2 is apart of the seven second summits along with Ojos Del Salado,Mount Logan,Dykh-Tau,Mount Kenya,Mount Tyree & Mandala Peak.

Those mountains are highly technical I would recommend you tackle some 6000m peaks first and then cho oyu before you try summiting everest however I wish you luck on your journey👍

Nice video! However, Asia's tallest mountain is actually Carstenz Pyramid (Puncak Jaya) located in Indonesia. It measures 4,884 m and is only reachable via helicopter or a very dangerous trek through the rainforest, where you might get shot with arrows (no joke) from the local tribes who aren't very keen on tourists.

@@GoodtoKnowYT He is half right. The actual seven summits includes Puncak Jaya because Kosi is barely a mountain and Puncak is considered part of the Australian continent not Asia as he wrote

That continent can have three different highest summits, depending on how you define it. The highest mountain on continental Australia is Kosciusko and you can get a ski lift to within 5 km of the top. The highest mountain on the Australian continental plate is Carstenz, it is technical, but tropical jungles and a shaky political situation also give it unique difficulties. The highest mountain in Australasia is New Zealand's Mt Cook, which is a high and pointy alpine peak which is very difficult to climb. But if someone has climbed the highest on the other 6 continents, I think they can choose which one of these they will climb to complete their Seven Summits.

Depends which 'list' you're following: Messner is Carstensz Pyramid, Bass is Kosciuszko. I agree that the real 7 summits should omit Kosciusko and only include Carstensz Pyramid. However, many climbers will do both to avoid the contentiousness between the two - similar with Mont Blanc and Elbrus.

that's part of the seven second summits, the second highest peak of each continent, the seven summits themselves don't really mean the 7 highest peaks, just the highest peak per continent
