These U.K. conservatives calling into this radio show don't even know that the U.K. is far more socialist than the United States. We would have to completely change many things in this country to even come close. Two things that we definitely need here are national healthcare and assistance to pay for childcare. I wonder if the callers would give up their health coverage in favor of paying extremely high monthly insurance payments and then pay an additional co-pay fee at every doctor's appointment and even worse if you need hospital care.

The host is an absolute beauty. Treats with respect, but requires callers explain themselves. One thing I’ve learned lately that really stuck - when someone says something especially atrocious like ‘they’re taking black jobs’…you have to ask them, ‘can you describe what makes up a black job?’ It puts them into a whole thing.

It's ironic because they complain about the price of prescription medications and when I tell them that the president is trying to get universal Healthcare to help with that, they suddenly change their tune and say they don't want that because it's a socialist program. First, he claims that one manufacturer, Harley Davidson, is moving production out of America because of the tariff battle Trump has announced, then almost straight away he claims that multiple manufacturers are moving out because of it whilst providing no other examples to justify this claim. We’re not even one minute into this and he’s already contradicted and discredited himself.

The list continues with: Morgan Stanley, IBM, Lowe's, General Electric/GE, PG&E, Batesville Casket Company, Mondelez International (Oreo Cookies), AT&T Call Center jobs, Verizon Call Center jobs, Microsoft closed a plant they opened in 2015 in Oregon, Rexnord closed it's Indiana plant, QVC moved HR, IT, finance, and legal role jobs, Illinois Tool Works, and even tech worker's jobs from UCSF. Wasn't aware he had to list them all.... The fact of the matter is that under Trump, foreign outsourcing skyrocketed while the number of US manufacturing jobs fell whereas under Obama, US manufacturers cut back on outsourcing and manufacturing jobs rose substantially.

Same. I'm registered as a Republican and have been voting primarily for Democrats. (Right now abortion access is one of my biggest concerns.) I'm staying registered as a Republican so I can vote in their presidential primary. I think that's the party that most needs my vote in the primaries. I'll probably be out-voted by the people I am surrounded by. I don't understand how *anyone*, especially conservatives and Christians, can vote for Trump. If the voters actually knew anything about the political spectrum between "left" and "right", they'd know that even the Democrats barely fall left of centre on that spectrum. Bernie Sanders is just left of centre. Republicans are already far right, so the balance is not achieved, and given the fact that Trump is and always has been an authoritarian type of leader, people who weren't ignorant would have known that. But they chose to ignore all of the flaws and negatives, because they didn't want Hillary, and she ran a terrible campaign.
This is my first time listening to James Obrien. This was awesome. I love hearing people talk about how much they stand for family values then say they support the guy who cheated on all 3 of his wives, claimed he would date his own daughter, but the black guy who has been married to the same woman, had no scandal while in office is the anti-family guy. Those same people that say the woman doesn't have a choice over their own bodies are scary. Rapists can now pick their baby's momma's and have rights over it.
