Ive Seen Them 7 Times.. The Last Time Gotta Meet Them All, And Me N The Singer Sat At The Bar And Had 2 Beers.. talked for about 45 mns straight. Every single 1 of them were so so nice.. no rock star b.s. at all... so humble and way down to earth, and next to Ronnie James Dio and mid 80's queensryche they sounded 100% as recorded live but at levels you can feel.. makes yr cloths vibrate and yr intestines too n its fkin great! They sound so so dam good live and thats beyond rare! Real talent, real musicians! I cant say enough good things about them. Im a fam for life because not only do they kick major ass live their so nice and really love their fans and they prove it!
The lead singer is African American and it's the story of his life... Sevendust is my favorite band, have been around for 25 plus years, and have a wonderful catalog of music...
What a lot of people don't know is that Sevendust was actually a band called Crawlspace before the name change. Look up where they did a song called "My Ruin" for the soundtrack for Mortal Kombat.
I've loved this group since I first heard them in 1997. Thanks so much Angela for as you stated, "Keeping an open mind". Doing so allows you to experience a new group, song or genre that may surprise you and pleasantly open your eyes to a whole new world.
Hahah I'm right there with ya going from 80's music to Sevendust, bravo on enjoying many different genre's! Seasons and then Waffle are my favorite Sevendust albums, can always listen to those from beginning to finish, just absolutely loaded with great songs.
The rain falls on everyone. Good bad or otherwise. Do not give up this band and others helped save my life. Music helps calm the savage animal; when you spend long hours alone sometimes it is the music, which helps you rest and recharge. I owned this cd for a long time, but my music collection was stolen when I got deployed. I had spent ten years collecting this mix of music I liked. Well at least I am still alive. Take care of yourself, it will getter better if you work hard. I do not know if it helps, but I try to find one thing to be grateful for each day no matter what and I try not to take kindness for granted. Have a wonderful day, and I hope things get better for you.
Wonderful reaction! Loved the way you "danced off" at the ending! Respect to your insight and feelings for the songs lyrics. There is so much more to you, DayOne, than we see! =;-D
They were doing a meet and greet way back around 2002 or '03, and I dropped in to show them support. LaJon the front man is the coolest dude you could ever meet. Even shorter than me, lol, at 5"5". I bought him a beer and we chatted for a bit. We weren't doin' nothin' wrong.
Good reaction, Angela. What you said pretty well applies to me... I don't generally like the super hard and heavy.. and there IS something to overcome for me to be open to it. But in the context of your channel, here, I did listen to it, and agree, it's pretty good. That's one reason I like your channel, sometimes it's nostalgia for great old stuff I know, but sometimes it's time to just dig into something new, and listen with fresh ears along with you. Good job. 🙂
I love Sevendust so much I'm always looking for anyone reacting to them. I have all their albums and they have NEVER put out a bad song. This is one of their early songs, and it's pretty heavy. By contrast you should react to a softer song, the Live in Denver song: Wait. It is so emotional for Lajon he has to wipe away tears, it's powerful stuff. Also there are tons of great songs by them like: Praise, Live Again, Follow, Karma, Forever, Ugly, Dirty, Risen, Not Original, Love, Criminal, Separate, Sleeper... so many!!!
They went with the title "black" because it sounds metal, but the song is literally about being Black in the Deep South. The singer is Black. I'm not Black but the line "You say you want to be like me- Well boy, let me tell you, you didn't know what I've seen" hit me like a ton of bricks when I was 13 and we had all these whiteboy rich kids around who thought they were hard.
Great commentary. I wonder the same thing. Sometimes life goes to hell, no matter how hard we try to stay cool. This band sold-out tho, unfortunately. And as the result, very underrated, and unseen .
Sevendust is truly one of the most underrated bands.. Lajon Witherspoon is such a great singer/songwriter. Try "Licking Cream" featuring Skin from Skunk anansie it is a super cool sound. link -----> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BXk5w91chgI.html
Dear Angela would you please consider doing the song Black by Pearl Jam the MTV Unplugged version. It is a totally different song with the same name and might make you cry in a good way. Big Hugs 😁 thank you.
The lead singer is black, and the song is called "Black" because it's an expression - from his point of view - of what it's been for him to live in America while being black, especially in the deep south. To be blamed and accused of things you have nothing to do with, to feel the self-doubt of being thought of as inferior and "less than." All that.
The association of heavy metal with satanism started at the very beginning and I don't think it was entirely intentional. The story goes that in 1968 the guitarist and bassist for a Birmingham (UK) based jazz band were watching a horror movie and suddenly realized that no one had ever made music expressly to scare people. So they reorganized the band, started writing new material, and basically created a new genre of rock. And to underscore their new direction they renamed the band after the movie that gave them the inspiration: Black Sabbath. Now just imagine how that name must have sounded to anyone who didn't know that story. The music we know as heavy metal basically began as "horror music", and because it was characterized by loud, distorted guitars, evil-sounding melodies and riffs, and dark lyrical themes, the door was already wide open for it to be interpreted as satanic by those inclined to. And in the decades since then there has been no shortage of bands willing to use explicitly satanic imagery and iconography in their lyrics and album art. Much of the devil worship might be genuine, but I'm convinced that most of it is just meant to get attention and boost sales by simultaneously appealing to disaffected teenagers and shocking their parents. Ah, good times. Now that I've written this, I'm thinking you should do a reaction video of the song Black Sabbath from the album Black Sabbath by the band Black Sabbath.
