Kidult is basically the embodiment of comfort, (basically the whole henggarae album) (hug is too, but I’m focusing this comment on kidult) it talks about all the adults in the world that hides their sadness, and hardships in life through smiling, laughing and bottling up their feelings, that it’s ok to cry, it’s ok to let yourself let it all out, and that they, seventeen, is always there for you, that you can cry together with them as you go through your journey in life, like kidults.

Kidult can actually be interpreted in anyways you want. But according to their leaders commentary, scoups pointed out that they wanted to give comfor that is straight and doesn't beat around the bush. That even though sometimes we are the adults that we are, we can still feel immature and that's okay. because sometimes we are forced to be the adults that we are in this world that tells you to be the grown up. " Laughing like an adult, crying like a child " " let love our hidden sadness " is my fave lines.

I also didn't get Kidult when I first read the translation too but it hit and hurt really different when I listened to it more and I realized what it meant 🥺 I kept asking who they are talking to when they say 'you/your' in the song. I thought it was a love song addresed to another person but I realized that they were addressing it to the little kid inside of them (this made it hit hard and suddenly the song meant more to me) "You and me, who are going in the opposite direction. The distance between us doesn't narrow so easily." Day by day, we start to lose our innocence as we grow up and we start to have the mentality that as an adult we always have to be mature and headstrong to face the challenges of the world. "Altough everything is cold, I'm not lonely because I have you." Here the 'you' means the little child/younger self and it's so 🥺 Basically, listen to the song again but replace every 'you/your' with little child/younger self, and you'll get it and it will hit different. It's a love song to our younger selves, basically. "To you in which everyday is more brilliant than sadness, it's okay, your world is precious, so precious just as you are right now. Stay here with me." It's basically telling us that it's fine to act like a kid we once were if times get rough. It's fine to cry and be immature sometimes. "Paint this world, which has become dark, with a pure white heart." Let's face this corrupted world with a heart of an innocent child. "Let's love even our hidden saddness" 🥺😭 Sorry that was long but I cannot stress how much I love the lyrics of this song and combine it with how it was sang, full of desperation and gentleness 🥺 I cannot articulate well but yeah I hope you got what I mean. I just want everyone to appreciate this song 🥺💗 It's a masterpiece!

The first time I listened to Hug, i didn't even understand anything but I teared up. And then when i checked out the lyrics i was straight up bawling. So yea I feel it when I see how hard Hug hit you. Hope you're doing well, Nick, you've worked hard.

Omg, hope you feel comforted with HUG. Smile Flower is kinda personal because it's Woozi telling the members, his precious brothers, about his worries and assurances... While HUG is for anyone and everyone who needs to feel comfort and consolation. For those having a tough time or a bad day. Or just simply exhausted... It is a song for you and I that's why the feels get deeper to us.

For me, my favorite line in Kidult was Vernon’s “paint the world with a pure white heart” : we have that moment in life when someone tells us to “grow up” or when we realize we had to “grow up”. And for some of us, we have no choice but to do so even though we’re not ready. As a kid, we have the innocence, dreams, and hope with a pure heart. As an adult, you see a little more of the world and you start to not only “grow up” and “matured” but you start to lose that innocence and optimism. Kidult is like telling me to not lose that kid like features I once had. That it’s ok to cry, to get hurt, to complain which is considered to some as “childlike” when you’re an adult. But just because you’re an adult, it doesn’t mean that you have to lose that innocent/ child like feature and we should accept both sides of us - the Kidult we are.

KIDULT hits so hard! It's impossible not to feel emotional listening to it. It was like you, an adult, talking with the child within you. That in your life, you still need him. You want to go together. I don't know about the song Inner Child but just with the title, I think you kinda get it?

Maybe because the translation for Kidult is a little bit confusing. But Kidult literally is a fusion of two words "kid" and "adult". The song says, with difficulties in life, we can laugh it off like an adult but it's okay to cry like a kid too. The song says, it's okay to be such because we are precious in this world, we are important, we are the same with them and they see themselves in us because they go through the same thing. That's why there's a line, 'stay here with me' (you know, not resorting to any bad way of leaving the world), it means, we can go through this together. Conclusion, it's okay to be a Kidult, it's alright to be a kid sometimes even when you are an adult already. Scoups wrote this while he was on hiatus because of anxiety. He wrote this and shared it to us because there are a lot of fans who converse with him on Weverse talking about their problems and asking him how to overcome it (since he is the leader of svt, so a lot want to learn how he's able to handle all the responsibility) He wants to send this message to all people going through difficult times, hoping they'll feel better.

Seventeen don't just sing, dance and rap.. their music is way beyond that. I remember them saying before that award titles don't mean much to them. What's important is the relationship they have with us, Carats. And that's really a precious thing. They touched hearts , they always want to connect through music. Wow this came sooner than expected. I was laughing and crying with you while watching your reaction. I see a lot of Carats already explained Kidult and everything they said were spot on. It's basically about being an adult but admitting that we all have that kid inside of us that comes out in times of vulnerability. About how we are expected to act as the adults that we are but still have fears and insecurities and accepting them and knowing that those are part of us no matter what our age is.
