100% agreed! I really REALLY wish people would see THIS side of Kpop, the wholesome and healing one and the one that makes people laugh and feel happy, not the one about how dark or toxic the industry can be, the scandals, controversies and drama or how obsessive, unhinged and horrible some people can be and think that that is all that Kpop and their fans has to offer and generalising everything and everyone that has to do with it without even knowing anything about Kpop at all just because it has become normalised and popular to hate Kpop and anyone who enjoys it smh... Because NO, Kpop is NOT just for preteens girls, it's absolutely for everyone, no matter their age, gender, nationality, ethnicity or any other aspect of them. People who enjoy Kpop do NOT only care about how good looking the idols are and ignore everything else and the majority of fans also do NOT dehumanise or objectivity them or think they can date the idols or are friends with them. Kpop does absolutely NOT look and sound all the exact same. There are SO many different genres, styles and concepts with meaningful lyrics and storylines and so many incredibly talented and versatile artists in each group and each of them has their own traitmark style, concept and sound that makes them unique and them. It's not all just bubble gum pop with cute and bright concepts and fan service (not that there is ANYTHING wrong with that btw, it's just not the case for every single group and their music and I hats when people pretend like it is) And at last, the sheer racism, xenophobia, homophobia and misogyny that often stems from those people that hate Kpop is absolutely disgusting. Kpop is NOT bad because the majority of the songs are in Korean and performed by Asian artists. Male idols are NOT any less men because they wear make up, wear classically feminine clothing and hairstyles, have soft and cute personalites and love skinship and "feminine" hobbies and activities or if they have higher pitched voices and idols are NOT robots or plastic people, they are HUMANS with emotions, personalities and lives of their own. Sorry for that rant, but the amount of vile stuff I've seen people say about Kpop and every single idol and group and their fans is absolutely disgusting and I'm sick of it. It's one thing to dislike the music or not wanting to support the industry and how the idols are being treated and another to be this hateful and gross and bashing innocent people for simply enjoying themselves and having found themselves a hobby and interest that is also a safe space for many of them. Also, same here! I'm a fan of many groups and have been since the end of the 2nd and the start of the 3rd gen, but Seventeen is my ult group and they give me so much joy and inspire me every day and I REALLY wish more people would give them a chance and give them the appreciation, respect and recognition they deserve so much!
