All Hail Lumon! and All Hail Waystar Royco!! Music : Succession Intro Theme by Nicholas Britell #severance #succession #successionhbo #appletvplus #appletv #hbo
@@Pumpkinking64 Severence is about the plight of the workers and employees in the modern corporate world, it is almost dystopian in this sense and could be compared with say Orwell's 1984 about the absurdity with the way the norms are structured and work is organised. Succession on the other hand, shows the plight (though, many would disagree with this) of the people who run these huge corporations where employees are exploited. It humanises the people who could be considered tyrants and oppressors. It shows that even though they are rich and powerful, they are not in any way free from this vicious trap of capitalism and mundane work. The theme that is common in both shows though and what makes them complimentary is the idea of the MEANINGLESSNESS of what people do. The sheer non sense that they act out to earn money and stay in power is haunting (Severence), comedic and tragic (Succession) at the same time. For instance, The routine work of removing digits into dustbins in Severence is similar to the dialogue of Roman at the end: "It's all bullshit. We're all bullshit. It's fucking nothing."
@hitarthjoshi3198 I agree with everything you said. However, I still do not think these shows fit together well or are similar in tone at all. They just have similar subject matter. It would be like comparing King Lear to 1984. You could find similar themes, sure. But in my mind they are entirely different animals
Never watched "Severance" and noticed that Ben Stiller is the producer. Considering that Will Ferrell is a producer for Succession, kinda shows that these comedy actors are really cranking out the good stuff.
I may be pulling this out of my ass, but a lot of actors and writers claim that good comedy is harder to wrap your mind around than good drama. Probably not by much, but still harder. So it makes sense that after years of racking your brain coming up with comedy, dramatic writing will come easy to them.
I would never have guessed that my two favorite shows nowadays would be in these environments. Writers, producers, keep up the good shit and don't be afraid to surprise.
You'll realise how minutely detailed this is, when u'll notice the credits are arranged based on their titles, and that too alphabetically... just like succession
this is fantastic!! the succession intro isn't just about its style and music but also what kind of imagery and themes are displayed. your use of lumon's unique architecture and the corporate titans of this alternate universe blends the shows wonderfully.
Two masterpieces combined. Well done. Wonder how it’d be like if the cast for the 2 series was switched, mark for kendall, helly for shiv, irving for connor, and dylan for roman lol
ooh fun :) nicely edited too! It really looks like the intro (interesting to see the same lavish look at the buildings that's in the Succession intro but with all these bland hallways)
Probably would have made more sense to have those scenes from Lumen with the innies be the modern footage and those from the rest of the world beyond with the outies being the old home-recorded style footage, or the other way around, as more of a way of defining things.
That was amazing, but both shows doesnt rlly match, u know? Like, in severance doesnt have that feeling of a big enormous thing like in succession does, severance is a kind of suspense/horror. The part that rlly matched is when shows something big of the show like the company bulding, the owner statue, but the character? Doesnt rlly matches with the succession theme.
