It was brilliant! A lot of the lightning seemed like cloud-to-cloud, though. I saw only one actual bolt. There was a very strange clap at around 22.30 or 22.45 (UK summer time): a sort of low-pitched, resonant groan, like thunder echoing in a canyon or between skyscrapers. Never heard anything like it -and I have witnessed a LOT of strong storms. Anyone else hear it?
I tracked this storm on my app and saw how many lightening strikes there were. In Nottingham we had the light show in the sky but no sound or rain. Amazing to watch. I was mesmerised 🤩
We were staying at the travel lodge across from the airport runways, my hubby wanted to go stand in the flat park across the road to take lightning pics, not a chance was I doing that. Most intense storm I have ever seen.
It had been quite a warm humid day once the morning mist had lifted - and a very hot day in the south of England. The MetOffice had warned of potential thunderstorms due to instability in the atmosphere
This was more than thunder and lightning, it's looked like it was An Electro magnetic storm! Very strange indeed! When do storms linger for Hours on end? Never!
