The Autumn Gala season is upon us once again, and one of the biggest events of the year is the Severn Valley's Autumn Steam Gala. Famed for its constant running from Friday morning to Sunday evening, it is one of the musts for many enthusiasts each year. This year saw four guest locos joining the home fleet to run the gala services, three of which were replacements for other original guest locos! The replacement for SR King Arthur Class No 777 'Sir Lamiel' was one of the big draws for people attended, coming in the form of LMS Coronation Class No 42633 'Duchess of Sutherland', with its trains being packed the whole of Saturday. A second replacement was SR Schools Class No 925 'Cheltenham', standing in for fellow Mid Hants resident SR Lord Nelson Class No 850 'Lord Nelson'. The final replacement guest was GWR Hall Class No 4936 'Kinlet Hall', standing in for still under repair BR Standard Britannia Class No 70000 'Britannia' which had been announced as a guest as early as last year! The only guest not to be replaced was Metropolitan Railway E Class No 1, along with Met Coach No 353. As usual the railway ran an intense service of full line passenger services, complimented by local passenger and goods services, one of which included one much smaller guest in the form of Talyllyn Railway No 3 'Sir Haydn', which was placed on a flat wagon and ran up and down the line during the event.
