Interestingly, ... I have a pair of St.Croix Avid Surf Caster rods 12’… Really, ... I'm interested to see what they come out with for conventional reels if at all… I've noticed there are only a few that cast old-school conventional gear, .… these days…. Everyone seems to use spinning reels and want nothing to do with conventional reels,... I learned to cast on multiplier reels and have used them ever since….. Always my go-to reel of choice and never a spinner…. As I am over 60, ... Spinning reels still look strange and alien to me, ... They just don't do it for me. I do own a few choice spinners but I never use them…. I'm not putting down spinners, ... I just prefer a multiplier, ... even for lightweight lures, .… BFS reels do cast very light lures very well…! Anyway..looking forward to seeing what's to come 👍😎👌

I can’t say I’ve ever really used one for surf fishing applications but I can’t tell you this reel feels like a tank and I hope it holds up like their rods do!

Uhh well that’s a bad standard to set st croix rods they break like toothpicks I baby mine I had 2 legend tournament walleye rods that broke each season with a literal pinkie’s worth of drag pressure they have you crack them on a table like an egg for warranty imo they are junk don’t hate if you like them I use a triumph but that’s only because that one actually kinda is fine I guess same setup as the 2 that broke just 200$ cheaper the tournament rods felt nice…. Until it broke… twice..

@@Jp-jj8br dang I am sorry to hear that. I’ve only truly owned one and it’s their inshore model. The rod works great for me but I use it for trout and as they are only here in the winter I don’t use it all year round.

Looking up Saint croix which is the same company they have the USA factory and factory store in the same location.

I completely understand that I think they have to figure out what niche they want to fill first Penn being their reliability and price shimano they are the lightest reels ever Diawa focuses on the price and has probably one of the best reels at $100.
