Well who knew it would be that easy !! Amazing pattern , I didn’t have the honeycomb, but the zigzag on small spacing worked perfectly !! Took me maybe 30 min after picking out the material and the correct needle for that material . Used my quilting mat to cut it with a rotary blade so much faster , then quick sew, iron and hem and tada !!! Thanks again for the great video :)

I HAVE LOW VISION. WHEN DEMONSTRATORS USE BLACK FABRICS, ALL DETAILS VANISH. IF LIGHTER, OR COLORED FABRICS ARE USED, IT IS POSSIBLE TO SEE DETAIL. P.S. WHITE ON WHITE IS ALSO BAD, FOR THIS SUBSET OF SEAMSTRESSES.

This is brilliant thank you so much for the pattern and video. If I wanted the sleeves to be wider (more like a kimono) would you just not cut the shaping into the sleeve? Keep it as a rectangle? Thanks again
I would think that would be a completely different pattern. You could cut part of the sleeve off and make up your own sleeve extension. I would do a muslin toile of it first to test it!
I followed instructions to the dot and there’s no way I can alter or change this to make it fit and hang right. Even took it to a friend who’s very adept at sewing and she, too, was baffled. I’m really bummed b/c I bought 1.5 yards of $30/yd fabric! 😢
Oh no, what kind/type of fabric did you get? Wondering if your fabric is to crisp and not hanging right. The shrug drapes differently with each fabric. @@FutureFashionDesigners It’s tulle with tiny and sparse sequins scattered. I’ve ripped it all out, scratching my head to see if there’s some way I can salvage it. The fabric does have a bit of “body” to it. I’m a size 8 and it didn’t even begin to cover my boobs. Couldnt even call it an “encroachment”.
@@lauralanebender7738 the pattern is not meant to cover your boobs. It is meant to drape from the shoulders down around under your arms. You can see from the way it fits on me it does not come toward the center at all. In the video at around the 3 minutes mark, I show you how it looks off and then show you how it goes on and drapes on the body. It's a simple rectangle shape. Be sure to cut it on the fold as directed. then just two seams for the "armhole" and then the hems. I'm wondering if you are thinking this was suppose to be more of a bolero that would meet at your center front. But it is not, it's sorta like a shawl with armholes. Please call me if you need.
Thank you so much for your reply. Maybe a stretchy jersey would’ve been a better fabric choice. Hopefully I can find a pattern or idea to transform it into something useful. I was just wanting something to cover my arms-and it did-but it sorta bunched up in the back and didnt hang or drape gracefully. Again, I appreciate your help and great ‘customer service’.

Hi, it's a pretty simple pattern I just traced and made into a PDF. You could cut it at the center and spread it out however many inches you want. Probably best to do a quick mock up first. It fits a lg/xl well.
I need help? Can you help me? I want to make a bolero or shrug out of a man's XL linen shirt. Reason is I want to match my husband, I bought him the shirt with linen pants, I found myself a linen sleeveless simple ankle length dress, and I want something over that will be 3/4 length but match his shirt, thus I boughtb an identical shirt. Hi, I'd suggest first making a sample of the shrug pattern out of muslin and seeing where you can cut and add seams to create the length of the pattern. A sample will help you see how the pattern looks on. Also, using the center front button facings along the shrug neckline could be fun and maybe use the cuffs in the arm area of the shrug. Or,t cut your shirt short, rehem , do some shaping, and turn it into a bolero. There are so many shirt styles, not sure what you have, hope I helped with some ideas for you.
I can't, for the life of me, lay out the pattern pieces in the correct order. Is it possible to provide a drawing indicating the order in which to line them up please, please, please? So the length is about 1 and 1/2 yards (from sleeve cuff to sleeve cuff)? Then from neck to bottom is about how many inches? Looks about 28 inches? Thank you for your video :)
You will love the shrug😊 I don't have the pattern with me right now but that sounds about right. There is a pattern link in the description below. Pretty easy to put together. Makes it much easier. I love my simple black one :) I'm at a convention right now had it rolled up in my bag and had to keep taking it out because the temperature would get cold and hot. it's so easily portable!
