Thank you! That is by far the easiest way to do pockets,except for knit fabric. I haven't done that in a while...

Liked the video! You made it simple! However, you stood behind the table, to model the finished skirt, so I couldn’t see the finished skirt movement compared to the first skirt.😩 I really liked that there wasn’t constant talking and there wasn’t annoying music. Thank you! Very pleasant to watch and learn! PS your machine sounds like it needs some oil.

Thank you for watching! Hopefully you can see in the picture how the skirt made stands a little boxier than the black and white, which was definitely more fluid. I hope you enjoy making some! That is how my machine sounds- She gets oiled regularly when I clean her. Thank you for looking out for her though :)

How much fabric did you start with in yard terms?
@BeyondFabric
@BeyondFabric Год назад
For my length and for allowance for shrinkage when prewashing, I had 1.5 yards of fabric.

I downloaded the pocket pattern piece, but there was no measurement worksheet. Did I do something wrong???

You did not do anything wrong. It is now fixed and I will directly email you the combined document since you already downloaded it. :)

Are you referring to the bottom as the hip? And you got 28 for the waist but said 14 for the "hip". Should it be 15? If it's 28/2=14 the add 1??? I'm more confused now than ever. Also what is the steps 4 and 5 for? Why is it halfed yet again?
@BeyondFabric
@BeyondFabric 4 месяца назад
Sorry for any confusion. The worksheet is intended to go in order with the steps. So on the left of the worksheet you will see an example using specific measurements different than what was in the video. In the video- 21 was the waist, 28 was the fullest part of hip (which we call bottom). Following the worksheet you need to get your waist, hip and desired length(dl). Next determine how full you want this skirt. We used a multiplier of 1.5 for 1.5 fullness. Step 1- take your waist (top of skirt) and multiply it by your fullness multiplier. Then divide it by 2 because you will have a front piece and a back piece. Then add 1" to that measurement for seam allowance. Now you have your top number. Step 2- Take your fullest hip measurement and multiply it by your fullness multiplier. Then divide by 2 and add 1". Now that will be your bottom number. Step 3- Determine you desired length and add 1". Step 4- We will be working from the fold of your fabric so the left and right side are identical. Because of that when you fold your front piece fabric in half to mark from- you will need to take your number you ended up with in Step 1 and divide by 2 because we are working with half the fabric. The same with Step 5- you will need to take the final number from Step 2 and divide by 2. Get your numbers and then follow along with the video one step at a time. If you are still confused, you can always email me at sara.claxton@beyondfabricinc.com or call the store (912) 673-8662 and I can try a different approach to walk you through it. :)

You missed the details on fabric and how long
@BeyondFabric
@BeyondFabric Год назад
Thank you for your comment, but if you go to the beginning of the video we discuss fabric and how it changes the look of the skirt. We also discussed when cutting it out the length desired. There is a coordinating worksheet here: www.beyondfabricinc.com/shop/c/p/Easy-Skirt-with-Pocket-Worksheet-Pocket-Pattern-x59941910.htm Hope this helps! :)

Am I the inky one who heard her say 28 and 21 for waist? Now I'm Confused. To get the bottom width how do you measure. I understand the waist is waist measurement times 2 then plus one right?
@BeyondFabric
@BeyondFabric 4 месяца назад
21 is the waist measurement in the video and 28 is the fullest hip or bottom measurement- see other comment for clarification
