I am an experienced quilter, but still, Donna’s tips are helpful. I love her cheerful demeanor and decisiveness. I have watched nearly every video of hers. Her’s are the BEST RU-vid tutorials.
yOU ARE AMAZING. yOU MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY. i LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR VIDEOS EVERY DAY i AM A NEW QUILTER i HAVE a friend who helps me. I am so happy to see how you put all the fabrics together and so many tips everyday. I wish you had a Jordans Fabric here in Columbus Ohio. Thank you for all your tips.
I agree that knowing how to measure for seam allowance on pinked edges. Don’t forget not all manufacturers measure from the same place. Just knowing where to lay your straight edged cuts is a relief that my blocks will fit together the way it should. The 2-1/2” is inside the strip. It’s either top to top, OR valley to valley. The jellyroll can use the top of the hill, or the bottom of the valley. It will be consistent for all strips so you can use the same “sight line” for sewing each strip.
Donna you are an excellent teacher and as everyone else has said you are a joy to watch. You’ve become my favorite to watch and thank you for all your hard work so we can continue to learn and be “happy as we are quilting”!
Sou do Brasil e acompanho seus trabalhos, são maravilhosos apesar de não conhecer sua língua já aprendi muitas já aprendi pra mim tá difícil que aqui tá difícil para adquirir o quite para pacohork,
I have started a wish list of patterns and this is on it. I have a few orders in right now for fabrics and patterns from you. I don’t think I could get them all done in my lifetime but it’s fun to dream ! Thanks for all you do ! LOVE your videos !
Really beautiful, thanks Donna. Your choices of colours and accent+border fabrics really make this design sing. Another one to add to my "Quilts I must make" list. Thanks again! ~Diana from Toronto
When I saw the picture of the initial quilt I saw that it would make a great Purple Pansy Quilt just changing up the colors..... would be my choice Too many options and ideas not enough time and never enough money to buy fabulous fabrics Thanks for your videos I very much enjoy your tutorials and how you streamline production
OMG Donna....this quilt is amazing! It reminds me of Arabian nights! I wish I lived on the other side of the continent so I could visit your shop and take a class. Thank you!
This! This is going to be my next one so I’ve watched several times already. I have to watch one more time I think. Right now I’m working on 5 star except mine is goin to be 10 stars!
This is one of your best tutorials yet! Love how you go slow with the instructions, but show EVERYTHING and the video isn't overly long. Although I could really just sit and watch you all day. You give so many great tips and details to make new quilters and those of us who just jumped into quilting with no real instruction be able to do a truly beautiful quilt each and every time. Even teaching us some color theory along the way. You are absolutely THE BEST teacher I have seen, on or off the internet! Thank you, thank you for all you and Matt do. It is easy to see why you are such a success. God bless your whole family. I know the kids are involved and help a lot. You raised them well.
I totally agree. Jordan Fabrics produce some of the best tutorials. My first quilt was one of Donna's patterns. I agonized over which pattern to try because I had Dandie Annie and I wanted to make just the right quilt. Donna was just the ticket.
@@WollongongSkyWatch .. I started with a simple baby quilt style but made it in a small wall hanging size. Just that much will make you feel confident to try one of these.. all with her easy instructions! 👍💗
Love watching your videos, your a great teacher. So thank you for that. I thinking of starting to quilt. I need more time pff. What you make is so beautyful. Hope to start one day. I keep watching 👍❤❤😉
Petra Beeke I hope you do try quilting. You will love it, but fair warning; it is addicting. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing your quilt coming together under your own hand. Don’t worry about perfection! Just do it. Good luck to you, Petra!
Love all of your videos and especially the detailed tips on working with pre-cuts. Started a quilt several years ago with a jelly roll but had no idea why the blocks were wonky. Now I now how to check size of strips before I start sewing. And how to watch the edges when I do sew the strips. Thank you so much.
You have inspired me to quilt again! Placed an order with you guys today. Thanks so much for the great videos and the quality of your work. You are an amazing teacher.
Donna: I have never been disappointed in a tutorial. I love the way you explain things. Thanks. Also, I noticed a Cozy Quilts pattern called "Leftovers" when you were choosing the "Lotus Blossom" pattern. Please consider adding "Leftovers" to you list of quilts to construct. I think the pattern caught my eye because purple may have been an accent color. Purple is my most favorite color. :-)
Holy smokes...that lotus quilt is terrific...especially cause you used the kaffe fabrics....always a first choice for me!.....I think I’ll have to do an order....lol..n I just got a package from you yesterday!....I’m in trouble!.....thanks for a great tute!...🌻🐝
This one turned out so nice. I would love to see this done in grey-scale, from a soft silver/dove grey through to a medium/dark charcoal, I reckon that'll look a bit fab... :)) ...one day I'll have the space (and let's face it, the cash) to be able to do one of these beautiful quilts...
Wouldn’t it be fun to go into your own private fabric store and pick out anything you want and just go sew it up! That’s the beauty of owning A fabric store, you’re lucky.
Love, Love, Love all your tutorials. You explain everything in detail and take your time so us folk can take notes, but please, please, cut your threads. It drives me mad Haaaaa!!!! Still love ya tutorials though, threads and all.
I love that one too, they did a video on it, it's a panel, I'm not sure if a link will show up here, but you can click on their name under the video, it will take you to another page, then click on 'videos' , look for 'Brush Strokes' they just posted it about a month ago, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vtc9RFKYMTc.html
Mary Whalen another video she did gave a good tip...regardless of the manufacturer be sure to measure your strip width because sometimes the strip when pinked will include out to the tips of the pinked edge instead of from “the valley” of that edge. I now pay more attention to the difference when choosing/looking at jelly rolls or cut strip sets.
Some you have to measure from the outside. Measure the precut before stitching. I got one where they only measured 2 1/4" instead of 2 1/2" and that WAS an outside measurement. Not all are alike. Not even all Moda.
You are such an amazing teacher!! You show everything yet don’t waste any time in accomplishing the finished product. You choice of colours is always impeccable & you speak & your directions are so clear. Just love your videos & have watched them all. Well done. 😍😍😊
Donna, Thanks to u I have started to use a long straight edge when I iron my strips. It made all the difference. Your quilting tips have taken me from beginner to an intermediate. Thank you. Please keep teaching.
Lovely! I hope my LQS has this pattern so I can quickly get my hands on this one! If not, I hope you have it in stock. Thanks so much for taking the time to teach us. Love the dog ears quick tip!! Thanks again as always
If you go to Cozy Quilt Designs for the pattern you can buy it as a download and get it right away. You might have to call them to request the download. They sent me the wrong pattern one time and I called them. They sent me the correct pattern as a download.
Hello Donna, just happened to stumble upon your videos. What a pleasant surprise! I’m a long time quilter, but have been discovering other crafts of late. Your videos have made me want to get back to sewing quilts again. Was wondering if you machine quilt tops for others? Well, I’m back to watching you and wondering where all my sewing stuff is! Lol!
I just enjoy your tutorials. I'm just beginning to try my hand at quilting. I have seen since a teenager. I'm now 72 and hope it's not to late. Thanks for the great learning experiences and for all your free quilt designs you offer.
Donna, do you have the exact purple grunge that you used in this quilt in your store? Do you carry the large scissors you use to cut the dog ears off? I would love to have a pair of them. I would like to have 10 yards of the grunge. Also two jelly rolls of the Kay Facet that you used in this quilt?? Thank you I love to watch you make your quilts. It’s relaxing, informative thanks to you and Matt and your son for all you do for all of us.❤️
I used Grunge Purple here: jordanfabrics.com/products/moda-grunge-30150-295-purple-by-the-yard and the jelly rolls here: jordanfabrics.com/products/free-spirit-kaffe-fassett-pre-cuts-40-piece-jelly-roll-island We use Kai scissors, but don't yet carry them for sale
