Lori, I have scraps for days and this is a fab way for me to use them to make an adorable scrappy quilt! Scrappy is my fav! I have been quilting since 1990 and I think I love quilting more with each passing year! My sewing room is my happy place and I am addicted to fabric! LOL! You are one of my favorite fabric designers! I love your new Prim collection! I love the happy colors you use! Anyway, Thanks for sharing and blessings to you!

First one I ever made was in ‘92 in Florida. We were just visiting family and the neighbor was a quilter. She invited me over and we both made a quilt that day! Her, the expert - me, the nervous but willing newbie. I still have the quilt. She let me use all her Christmas scraps. Best day ever in my sewing life. I’ve been called a pro now a days but back then I was skeptical about making quilt tops, much less the whole quilt.

First let me start with saying how adorable the red Minnie Mouse Singer is, I just love it. I have been wanting to make a string quilt and your instructions are spot on for me, I just love how you keep the fabric strips organized. I did see string quilt that my great grandma made from wool scraps she must have had from making clothes, they would use wool because they lived in Colorado and would have had cold winters, my grandma had them on the beds in her trailer and we loved them because you never got cold and the weight felt good. Thank you for sharing your talents and your darling sewing space your videos are so calming to watch.

Love the tutorial and thanks again Lori. I have done this method with batting, but make sure it is 100% cotton batting. If you use polyester, even 80-20, the polyester distorts as it is shifting and melting when heated with a hot iron.

I'm so glad I found this video !!! Because one I like the idea of scrapy quilts. And how they are just put together. I just ordered all of your trim it quilt rulers. From amazon. I like the fact that the seam line is included in the ruler. No more adding a 1/4" on to cutting out squares. after watching and hearing that the interfacing sew in. Your brand, Which I have it's great, I realized. when listening to your video. Can be used as a batting for quilts. Making them shift less. Than warm & natural batting. I haven't used interfacing with warm & natural batting before. But wish I would have known about it. Before starting on this quilt I'm working on now. Thank you for this great video, I'm sure other quilters already know this fact. But I diden't so now future quilts will be less of a pain. When it comes to shifting. Thanks again Lori Marion Bartley

@@abitofsewing3750 If you can sew a straight line, you can quilt! I encourage you to start something ... you'll love it. I'd suggest a small first project - maybe 12" squares in a tic-tac-toe setting. And your local quilt shop owner would be more than happy to help you out. There are often beginner classes too. Have fun!!

I love your videos. This is the most fun block to make. A few years ago I started making string quilts in between working on wedding rings. The first one I made on muslin. It was queen sized and ended up so heavy. My son wanted a king size. So I got lightweight interfacing for my foundation. Even though the quilt is larger, it is much lighter weight! I have never made one without batting but my next one will be so I can use for a summer quilt since I live in the desert.
