I feel like I've waited such a long time for this reveal 😂😂 I love your Galena dresses and wow, for free patterns they really are beautiful. I can see why you feel they are a little fancy even though the fabric itself isn't an upmarket material. The blue looks gorgeous on you but honestly, the white looks amazing as well. You could easily wear that to a spring wedding or a baby shower. They may not be the everyday wear dresses you hoped for but gosh they're pretty. Honestly, re Addy, let her wear the dresses as play dresses. Kids have so many 'good clothes' and so few places to wear them, what does it hurt?

love you and addie’s dresses. I have a 6 year old who loves to play in all her clothes. I would tell her she couldnt play in her nice dresses. Then I realized she didnt get much use out of her nice dresses, only wearing them once or twice. So now I just let her play and be fancy while she plays. I can always make her a dress if she needs one. I also made the galena. your plans video for it had me sold, so I made mine with short sleeves and I did the faux button placket. My 1st button placket ever and it was easy and it looks great!!! Thanks for the inspiration❤

I made the Galena last week in a size 8 for my granddaughter. I made the short sleeve with the band on the cuff. She hasn't tried it on yet because they are on vacation. It came out really cute! I did have a little trouble with the neck band because I'm used to a regular band instead of the way they have you do it as a bias band. Your dresses came out great! Addie is adorable. Have you seen the movie, "Paper Moon"? Tatum O'Neal's character was named Addie. She was 9 at the time! I enjoy your channel.

Lovely dresses. If I can say anything, I would suggest that (for the price you paid for the fabric) you let your baby play in the pretty! She will grow out of it fast enough. 😊

Tiffany to make Addie's dresses last more than one season. You can put in a two or three inch hem which you can let down as she grows. I have seen this method in vintage sewing books.

Oh my goodness Tiffany. How adorable are kids in gumboots. I just love how cute she is in that little dress😍. I love both of your dresses. What fabrics do you use? My last dress scared me off. I am so confused as to what fabric is suitable for a knit dress. My last dress was too heavy and had elastain in the fabric. I find knit fabrics are expensive in Australia so I'm too scared to experiment.
Hello, Katrina, thank you so much for taking the time to watch and for such a lovely comment, it means so much to me! For these particular dresses, I used a DBP that I bought from my local Walmart. It’s something of a mystery material as they come rolled into bundles and give no fabric content. It’s definitely a more drapey DBP, not constrictive like other fabric stores’ DBP has been in my experience. I understand your reluctance to spend that kind of money on test garments as I’ve heard that fabric prices there in Australia are outrageous, it’s so frustrating that there can’t be standardized pricing worldwide. That DBP from Walmart is definitely a favorite of mine for dresses, a Rib Knit is another one of my favorite knit fabrics to use for dresses, lightweight jersey would also be a good choice. I tend to look for more light, drapey knits as opposed to the heavier ones. Heavy knits like Ponte and Liverpool are great for bottoms like pants or skirts or more structured things like blazers but for flowy dresses, I would choose something more lightweight. Love the matchy matchy! I think it's a great dress on you and you're being a bit hard on yourself needing a flounce or gather at the waist. The flappers never had a gather at the waist. It's just a different silhouette. That said, I'd never look good as a flapper even with all the beads.

Your mommy and me dresses are so beautiful!! Question; did you use the clear elastic on your waist bands too? So happy to hear that you love your galena top, I thought it was gorgeous when I saw you in it on Instagram 🥰 Thanks for your great question! I did indeed use clear elastic on my blue dress. I thought the skirt might drag the bodice down some so I went ahead with using the elastic on the blue version. For my white, I did not use it on my dress. Mainly because I used it on Addys white one and felt like the white fabric was showing the elastic through the material some so I didn’t want that to happen on my dress. I honestly haven’t noticed a ton of difference between the blue and white dresses as far as drooping goes but I also have not washed and worn the dresses a ton yet.
