The Phoebe jumpsuit in a two-pieces-version made out of the black fabric with stars sounds like a great idea! This challenge is so great, really wonderful to see, thank you 🎉
Monstera leaves in the Phoebe jumpsuit would be gorgeous for summer and holidays, sandals during the day with a denim jacket and night time with heels and a bit of bling
I'm so pleased that Sew Frugal is back. If I were you, I would make the Peppermint trousers in the plain blue fabric, ideal to wear with your colourful tops. x 😁
I love your idea of the phoebe in 2 pieces, more versatile, and probably easier to fit. I love my cargo pants! All those pockets, if I'm shopping I can carry my bank card, my phone, my reading glasses and be hands free. And when I'm walking the dogs, great for carrying the poop bags and treats. The last jumpsuit you showed would be so beautiful to wear to a summer wedding. Thanks for hosting a fun challenge along with Sam. I have a few plans and hopefully time to get them made.
Cute Tshirt & patterns; always on the lookout for a quick shirt pattern. Watching from the US on a rainy afternoon so that blue fabric truly brightened my day!
What a great challenge and great choices you have. The Phoebe Freebie (aka elegant pants with bib) in the viscose animal-print leaves is what I can't get out of my brain since watching your video. I'm sure whatever you make will be a knockout, Antonia
In this order: Phoebe in black/green floral, then Peppermint in the blue, cargo in the black!! Love your choices and thanks for making SewFrugal23 happen!
Yay for sewfrugal23! Great challenge Ruan. How lovely of Donna to offer another free pattern❤ Loving all of the jumpsuits, but I do think the black twill will be great with the cargo pants, but maybe for winter, rather than going into summer. So maybe the lovely green leaf fabric with the wide leg trousers from Peppermint patterns. Gosh so many options😬 I look forward to seeing what you make up and thanks to you and lovely Sam for running this fab challenge, just amazing ❤
My vote is for the Phoebe jumpsuit.. in the 2 pieces with the star fabric/black background.. I can see you wearing this throughout the summer.. and perhaps during some vacations..😊
I love the idea of the frugal sewing so much. This Luna jumpsuit is gorgeous and I am not a jumpsuit person (...because, you know... pit stop). Hope this year I will be able to post my make in time!
Thank you Ruan, your inspiration patterns are enticing. The peppermint pants pattern is calling me! I love the green fabric, would make a lovely jumpsuit.😊
Lovely ideas, I think you should go with the cargo pants then you can say you’ve ticked trousers off of your to do list that you wanted to make this year. Xxx
I love all your choices, a fantastic free variety. I have a subscription for in the folds and I have made a toile of the trousers and they fit really well without having to do a lot of alterations. This is their main pair of trousers, however once you master the fit, they have lots of different variations of style using the same pattern and doing some simple adaptations- so it may be worth your while making these as you will potentially get more out of this free pattern. Whatever you choose, I’m sure it will look amazing.
I love your pattern choices! Thank you forintroducing me to the Phoebe pattern ~ I would have passed it up if you hadn't shown all the amazing options. I think it would be smashing in the green leafy/animal print, all "Fresh off the runway," in that chic casual way. Lovely stash you have there, those stars on the black background are calling my name.
Haven’t even got to the end of the video and I’ve already downloaded 2 patterns. My youngest teen has been asking for cargo pants/jeans and you appear with the perfect pattern!
Love the palm print fabric a d think the mood jumpsuit would work in the viscose. Or the Phoebe jumpsuit would look great in the viscose. 😍Great video Ruan.
Oooo the cargo pants and the Phoebe jumpsuit I need!!! 😍😍 what amazing free patterns!! Thank you for the inspiration 🙌 can’t wait to see what you make!! X
Got to be either the wide legged pants or cargo pants in the monster leaves fabric they would be amazing if you could get both pants out of the fabric. Thank you for kicking off Sewfrugal 2023 I am doing it this year whoop whoop.
Hi Ruan, looking forward to the Sew Frugal challenge again😃 Thanks for the great ideas . I was thinking of pants or jumpsuit myself as I always make tops or dresses! think the wide leg pants would be super on you and really like the idea of the cargo pants! I am interested in the Alejandra jumpsuit pattern as I really like your Megan Nielsen one and like you said it looks very similar.
So excited the challenge is on. I think the dark twill cargo pants would be fab. Especially if you use a contrast thread to highlight the front and back pockets. If I were you I'd just leave off the thigh pockets so they won't go out of style in a season. Make the feebie top in the starry fabric and wear them together ❤
I think you should get on the wide leg trousers train and make the cargo pants or the last ones (if you can't get behind the cargos) in the softer fabric as that would be more casual and flowy.
Thanks for this wonderful challenge, as well as your plans video! Love the Phoebe jumpsuit in the black/emerald fabric … or maybe the wide leg pants in the navy fabric??
Ha ha, just reading through some comments, and read that the peppermint ide leg trousers are cropped-when I made them they fit me perfectly in length 🤣🤣 I'm 5ft 4" though some would argue I'm shorter. It's a great pattern and I think the first fabric you showed would be perfect for them. I love love love the green fabric you showed and think that would be amazing in the Alihandra jumpsuit
I loved hearing your potential plans Ruan! Lots of very nice options, good luck deciding which one to go for. The fabrics for the jumpsuit options are all very pretty, I especially liked the green one with the monstera. I'll look forward to seeing what you make! x
I'm usually not a jumpsuit person but I love the idea of shorts versions for summer. I grabbed a notepad 📒 whilst watching this video and started writing down your recommendations. I'll probably just title my notes Sewfrugal 2023 and start keeping track of all the great recommendations coming to us this year during the challenge. 💕 I don't think I'm participating this year but I love learning about new free patterns.
Whooop whooop loving that #sewfrugal is back. Love all your plans Ruan, that Pheobe Freebie pattern is amazing. But you’ve got to go with those amazing cargo pants. Can’t wait to see what you make and can’t wait to get involved too. Happy Sew Frugal month ❤
Yesssss! You know I love Sew Frugal 💛 Not even got to the end & NEED to say hoorah, my inner Natalie Imbruglia is very excited that the eponymous 90's cargo trews are back, I had an idea for some some sew frugal pants but all's I can say now is... "That's what's goin on, nothing's fine.... I'm torn" 🤣 You're welcome for the classic 90's earworm!!
I think you really suit the green fabric so a top would look great in that. Love your videos your just so natural and fun to watch. Looking forward to seeing your new sewing room ❤
Ive made the wide legged trousers several times. It’s a great pattern with great fit. I’d rather use the light blue fabric. But I’d love to see the cargo in the sturdy fabric. Good luck!
You are really what got this whole sewing spree going for me last year with your SewFrugal 22. I have loved watching you ever since. Your recent purchase of huge leaves print looks stunning. Can't wait to see what you make with that whether it's this month or another month. The Peppermint wide leg pattern looks cool too and will be fun to see if you agree it's an easier sew. xx
Amazing free patterns. I have never entered any challenges as only be sewing for about 7 months but really want to take part in this one Thanks Ruan you are so motivational 😊
Ooh you’ve just reminded me of my red linen peppermint pants - must get them out again for summer! ❤ I love that monsterra leaf fabric and it would look gorge as a jumpsuit x
The Liv pants are amazing. I struggle with getting trousers to fit me but these were a perfectly fit with very little adjustment. Think I will probably make a second pair for my sew frugal entry.
Hi Ruan thanks for the inspiration I have just got the Liv pants as they look amazing and I'm into making trousers atm 🙂 I loved your colbalt fabric which would look fab as a jumpsuit or the black fabric in cargo pants would also be amazing my 18 year old has a black pair that she wore out on the town last Saturday 🙂xx
OMG, has to be the cargo pant!!! 😍. Yes, we need to re live our time wearing cargo pants, don’t worry about the colour, I’m thinking of flowery ones 🫣😂. I’ve been looking for a cargo pant pattern, just need to get over my irrational fear of the zip fly and I’m all over this pattern thanks for sharing!!! 😊
Navy fabric and peppermint mag pants.. black back ground with big green leaves for any jumpsuit.. Oh My Goodness I love that.. Love your choice and always your videos. Have fun
I've made the peppermint wide leg pants twice and I really love them, just note there is (or used to be unless it's been fixed in the past 6 months) an instruction error to do with fly instruction labelling re fly and fly shield, , it's possible to work it out but it might be off putting if it's your first trouser fly. What I could see you in was a phoebe freebie jumpsuit in the green leaf fabric....
i love those cargo pants. i think they would look amazing on you. also, have you thought about colorblocking the mood jersey jumpsuit? what if the cowl top was in a fab print and the bottoms were a solid, or even do a print mix? i think that could look really chic plus enable you to use smaller cuts of fabric.
Finally getting a chance to catch up on my YT watching.... I am too late to vote, but I can't wait to see what you decide! I am glad to know the Peppermint wide leg pants are good for beginners at trouser making, I will have to remember that for when I am feeling brave enough to attempt it myself!
Great choice of patterns, thank you for the inspiration. I love all your fabrics but my preference for the trousers would be the black fabric and the cobalt blue for the jumpsuit. That will look stunning!
I’ve made the Peppermint wide leg pants, they fit me very well. Yes they are cropped, I’m 5’11” and added 4” so they aren’t too cropped on me, I just don’t care for cropped on me. I love this challenge! Great to start us off!❤
Love the look of the last pair of trousers with the blue fabric and the last jumpsuit in the monstera animal print. 😍 thanks Ruan, lovely free patterns.
Can’t believe this is back already, doesn’t seem long since last year’s! I think I’ll make a Helen’s Closet Orchard Dress since I need more floaty loose clothes for warm weather and otherwise I’ll forget until a heatwave and have nothing to wear 😂
Hey Ruan great that this challenge. Is back - thank you! I’m going to say a no from me on the cargo pants. I wore them back in my 20s super skinny with midriff showing but now I’m my mid 40s they would do nothing for me especially all the pockets on my wide thighs. I really do like your other options though and think wide leg pants will look awesome on you ❤
Ooo I love the first fabric in the wide leg - my fave would be the Liv Pants - these would be scrumptious in the linen!!! And they would go with everything in that colour Xx
I can highly recommend the Wile Leg Pants. Made them for sew frugal last year and they turned out great. Many thanks for hosting this challenge again. It is always so much fun!
I love the patterns you've chosen - in particular the jumpsuits. They are all gorgeous. I don't know how you will choose now that the last one is out of the running, they are all such great options.
Well I can see your dilemma!! Such lovely pattern and fabric picks. My vote goes for the wide leg pants for the trouser option in the twill from g&g as I think you'll get stacks of wear out of them. I also had that kit and it's still unmade!! Undecided on the jumpsuit but love the cobalt blue fabric with black splodges. Xx
